    How do you distinguish ACS from PNA on chest x-ray?

    • @DrMK7
      @DrMK7  3 месяца назад +1

      Both entities can manifest as pulmonary opacities on chest x-ray, necessitating a comprehensive clinical approach that incorporates history, physical examination, and potentially additional investigations.
      Challenges in Chest X-ray Differentiation:
      Overlapping Radiographic Features: Both ACS and pneumonia can cause airspace consolidation, appearing as white opacities that obscure underlying lung architecture on chest x-ray.
      Limited Specificity: Chest x-ray findings lack the specificity to definitively distinguish between the two conditions.
      Suggestive Radiographic Clues (Acknowledging Limitations):
      Distribution of Opacities: ACS may favor consolidation in the lower lobes, whereas pneumonia can involve any lobe. However, this is not a definitive distinction, and exceptions occur.
      Clinical Context: If a patient with a known history of sickle cell disease presents with new pulmonary opacities and respiratory symptoms, a high index of suspicion for ACS is warranted.
      I hope that helps

    Hi Doc do you give hydroxyurea for life and at what point can you start

    • @DrMK7
      @DrMK7  5 дней назад

      Considering these benefits, hydroxyurea therapy can be initiated in children as young as two years of age, following a comprehensive evaluation... and it is given lifelong in some cases with close monitoring... here is a video actually on hydroxurea that will help ruclips.net/video/sjenXCChVOU/видео.html
