Mega Man 8 - Sword Man's Stage

- Now for a bit of a weird stage... Sword Man's stage does something a fair bit different from most Mega Man stages... The focus for the first half of the stage is more about puzzles than anything else. Each of the first four robot master weapons are made use of to aide in a set of rooms to reach a switch to press. The weapon is not mandatory for some of them, but not all of them. After the four trial rooms comes a mini-boss that is extremely annoying when fought with just the buster, but is a complete joke when fought with Flash Bombs. The boss rarely moves so it gets hit over and over by the explosion, causing some pretty intense damage.
The second half of the stage is more of what one would expect in a Mega Man game. Lots of dangerous platforming and action and so forth. In this case, there is plenty of lava around, eager to kill Mega Man, and plenty of enemies around eager to knock him into the lava. Thus, you have to tread carefully through these rooms to make it to the boss without ending up rather well done.
Sword Man himself is a pretty quick fight. He only has a few moves, all of which are perfectly possible to see coming and avoid. Just memorize what he does and respond in kind and he should be done quite quickly even with just the buster.

I originally thought Sword Man said "I suck" when he was killed, but I just figured out he said "nice shot."

@@benmary6453 right, it is the same in how donkey Kong was supposed to be monkey 🐵 Kong. However, it isn’t Japanese English, there was a Japanese undub with different voice actors, you should take a look at it

I agree PKR. Swordsman doesn't sound that bad. hell, he might have one of the better voices in the game next to Roll and Bass
Really? I actually like Tengu Man's voice better than Sword Man. Though Bass's voice is definitely the best in the game.
Guys calm down, Wily didn't program his robot with accurate Grammar, he programmed it for FIGHTING

Nothing like watching someone getting through the stage with a Australian sounding Robot Master.
If you listen closely the part of the song at 0:49 sounds very similar to the MM3 weapon get track. I cant be the only one who hears it

One thing about Sword's Man is that he may speak like a gentlemen compare to other robots, but don't let that fool you! Because compare to other robots, you gotta aim for his head instead of his body.
When he said, ''I'll do my best'', it looks like he wasn't confident at all. Like he wasn't sure about winning.
Honestly, the Robot Master I feel sorry for and do not wish to kill or destroy is Sword Man in Mega Man 8, even if I never played it before.
I like sword man, in terms of being wily's an honorable fighter really using his won power and has a calm knightly voice/disposition when you listen.
Sword Man strikes me as the honourable type so it kind of pains me to see him killed here.....
It's an even harder punch in the gut if you've played Megaman X4, since Sword Man was voiced by the same guy who voiced Colonel.
The lightning-chain thing is so neat! Could be a nice skill to see in the X series

When you realize that swordmans attacks are basically battle chip in battle network. Fireslash? Firesword. He uses Lifesword lol and that stone thing from battle network 6
In X4 Colonel has the same voice, noly he kicks it up a notch.

I don't know if it's the same for the PS2 version, but fighting Sword Man on the GCN version of Anniversary Collection is like playing on Easy Mode due to all the slowdown when he does the spinning fire slash.
Also, fuck the first half of this stage. What a joyless chore.

I like this stage. I know some people don't like the "4+4" style of fighting the robot masters, but this stage doesn't work without it.

How does Sword Man set up the trials using the other robot masters' power? It sounds like something Dr. Wily is able to do, but not the other robot masters.

@ERICKERMR You can do it without the Thunder Claw, though I think you need to do a mid-air Mega Ball jump. Tornado Hold, unless there's an awesome trick I don't know about, is required.

@cristian gonzalez That's the rule for platforming games like Megaman. You can't touch your enemies, or else you'll take damage, that's common sense.

I guess the dubbers for both Megaman 8 and X4 recieved low pay for their jobs, That's why they sounded... well... unmotivated and crappy.
