Honestly it's not as bad as everyone makes it out to be. Performance wise, its better than the last gen overall. And it's a bit more practical. Of course, the CVT Trans isn't good for dedicated spirited driving, but the kind of person buying an Automatic WRX is one thats going to be a dedicated Daily Driver.
@ftffighter They must have recently greatly improved then...I've driven a civic with the cvt and thought it was trash If it were up to me cvt transmissions, and manual trans rev-hang would be banned.
Subaru needs to put that CVT into every car they make, full stop. The Crosstrek and Outback would greatly benefit from it. Imagine this car with Honda's V-6 and 10 speed transmission.
At least for the XT models. The FA24 already has roughly the same power as the Honda V6, and it could be making near CTR power with just a 93 Tune. A ZF trans would be better than Honda, that's the fastest shifting automatic outside of DCTs.
I have a base 2023 WRX with the 6 speed standard transmission. The WRX is Subaru's vehicle that should only come with a standard transmission if you ask me. I would not buy this car just for the reason it's an automatic. Although I will say Subaru's automatic's are great. I drove an automatic 2020 Crosstrek and it drives nice. I would not want to buy an automatic for my own vehicle though.
Well I guess you were the first to be wrong about that. lol The new Prius doesn't even blow the doors off the Civic/Integra, and the Prime model is still a whole second slower then the WRX GT.
No WRX should be driven by a CVT, not even the GT. Either the GT upgrades its power specs in replace of the defunct STI and get a manual transmission for those who want all of the goodies of the GT and do not want the CVT ever or the GT will be the weakest seller and they axe it and everything in the GT gets packages into the Limited Trim and you can get the manual; obviously minus the EyeSight System since Subaru says they can't link a manual transmission to Eyesight, yet Honda has Honda Sensing working with a manual transmission in the 11th gen Civic Sport hatchback with a manual, Civic Sport Touring hatchback with a manual, Civic Si sedan, and the FL5 Civic Type R, and Hyundai/Kia has Hyundai SmartSense and Kia Vehicle Stability Management works in the Elantra N-Line, Elantra N, and Forte GT all with the manual transmission too. Subaru's claim of EyeSight not working with a manual is BS because they refuse to do it and they know that Honda's and Hyundai's/Kia's systems work way better than Subaru's.
I would think a true enthusiast going for a manual would rather not have the extra weight and cost. Nanny features is for people can't drive and pay attention.

My greetings from Greece 🇬🇷!all the videos are excellent!❤
A very nice car.It is a shame they don't sell this in Europe!!
Thanks for the video
I can t stand CVT's but this is prob the best Ive seen. The simulated shifts almost seem like real automatic trans.
Hondas CVT that they put in the Civic Sport is way better.

So glad I was able to get a new discounted STI during covid summer 2020. Better hydraulic steering, Brembos, 310hp….
We all know the cvt is good, but is it fun?

It was a great ride😍,but I have a question. Why did you hit the gear handle about 5 times?🤔
Manual shift
That's what i call dogging out a car on a test drive...lol
9:33 lol what was that subaru
The sound of CVTs give me the worst anxiety lol
Omg, same. It just DRONES at the same engine speed, kill me.
True but better than any other CVT they make.
If you guy dont want a cvt, you guy can get another which doesn't use cvt
What have subaru done? It doesn't even look like a WRX any more 😔
Looks fine to me
Bro, it literally looks like bool sh*t
Yeah same looks so bad
I like it
Unfortunately, I’ll be the first to point out that the new Prius will blow the doors off this CVT GT.
Well I guess you were the first to be wrong about that. lol

CVT totally ruins this car..
Automatic????
CVT and a sports car don't mix
i hate CVT transmission
Guys remember if you don't want it don't buy it.
Oi
Heavy handed on everything you touch bro,you won’t be getting anywhere near my car.
you're worried about his slamming a door, what's it gonna do, hurt it's feelings? I bet your subaru doesn't ever get off the pavement lmao
This car is soulless and neutered compared to the Elantra N.
This car design totally failed
