The requests of the rus sian Duma were very simple, no western aligned militaries (nato) in Ukr. Theyve been lenient w nato expansion, but they said this was a red line since 2007, and they finally put their foot down. Neocons thought Rus was weak and they could bully it, causing regime change before moving on to China. Rus and China want to do business, but also want some control their regions as the powers of their regions, and they certainly don't want openly hostile Nato militaries operating on their borders w missile systems. The arrogant western elite have been riding the fumes of American supremecy and cannot accept its decline or a reduction of the empire. They are finally being beaten and expelled. Look at ukr, isr, mid east outposts.
But now reality sets in. The rent seeking, ultra privatized neolib economic model of the west cannot actually wage a modern war. When ur enemy has a gov policy not set for profit maximization, they can manufacture a missile for 2000 to your 2million. That's just economics.
