I don't know what I like more, her passion for teaching, the glow she has, her joyful demeanor, her smile, or her beautiful eyes. This lady glows because she loves what she does. Came to get extra SnagIt tips because I'm also a SnagIt Addict but got much more than what I came for. Great Genealogy Ideas! I'm on Ancestry, 23&Me, MyHeritage, GedMatch, and FamilyTreeDNA. She gave me a plethora of ideas. Definitely subscribing. Thank you Bill for sharing this jewel of a woman with us.
Oh my goodness… I almost didn’t watch this video. I have well over 500 newspaper articles on my great grandmother and have been trying to compile in a book. I’ve started so many times using different methods, transcribing, saving images, etc. but they have all been so time consuming and became a chore. I am so super excited right now. I see this as a solution and can’t wait to get started! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
I'm so glad you watched, and your project sounds wonderful! I hope you'll consider sharing the video with others, and thank you so m much for your comments.
The Grab Text is fabulous. I use it for Zoom participant list that I Grab Text and paste into an Excel file to keep track of attendance. I also use it for file lists in Windows Explorer like you demonstrated. Thanks a million.
I have also used the clipping tool on my laptop but I can see lots of uses for this - especially since I'm working on writing up a family history for my Dad.
I just to used this fantiscaed prodouct when it was first developed at CompUSA when I was an instructor and Manager of CompUSA Training Centers in my document of Training classes for the instructors. Trying to get it upgraded right now to just it in my genealogy research.
As a long term 20+ years Snagit user I’ve seen a lot of changes in the program, some good & some bad. I would never give up my usage. 100% the best program along with a quality photo editor the possibilities are endless. Too bad it doesn’t work on Apple products like it does on Microsoft.
This was a super episode. I have Snagit but I use Windows snipping tool constantly because it's so easy. That will change now because of your video. I love the info about cutting out portions of a snip we don't require (eg census) and being able to stitch portions together. I have a whole bunch of those that I will be redoing. I didn't realize you could do panoramic in a downward direction. Duh! I'm looking forward to follow-up Snagit videos. You have a great way of teaching this stuff to make it understandable. I have Snagit 2019. Can I upgrade through your link? Thank you for putting this episode together. The folks at Snagit will be pleased. Regards, Pam in British Columbia
Hi Lisa - when performing a panoramic capture is there a way to do a smooth straight line scroll? I know I can tidy my clipping in the Snaggit editor, but I've often wondered if there's a way to "lock" (for lack of a better word) my scroll window so I don't "zig zag" as I scroll? Thanks!
I don't think it currently has the ability to lock it in place because panoramic allows you to go both up and down and to the side in the same clipping. I practiced a bit and pretty soon was able to get a pretty good consistent clean clipping.
Great video….I bought Snagit after watching this. Biggest problem with these instructions are that she doesn’t articulate what she does to get some of the editing screens, ie at around 28:05 she gets the template to hide the visible steps, but doesn’t explain what to click to get the same screen she does.
Thanks for clearing that up. Somehow, the transparency auto fill doesn’t seem to appear and I still end up with the TechSmith SnagIt watermark and the “add caption here” fields.
Was excited for this...but when I went to the site to purchase it the invoice said "Bills annually" so not a download and you're done as I thought she said. (Please correct me if I'm wrong). It has been a number of months since this video went up so maybe something changed?
They now offer the option for annual maintenance, but you don't have to do that. When you click our link exit out of the pop up window. You will see "checkout". On that page, under Maintenance, uncheck the box for automatic billing (the yearly billing would give you ongoing maintenance which gives you access to benefits like upgrades.) Then complete your purchase to download Snagit. Thank you for watching and for using out links!
Hey Lisa, great video. Do you think the text grab feature would be able to decipher hard to read handwriting from older documents or only printed text? Just a thought. Much love from Scotland. x 😊
At around 28:05 she says “I removed them” referring to the Steps of the combined images, but she doesn’t say how she removed them. Right now I’m stuck on having to combine images and those gaudy step icons are still visible

What a great idea!
I have tried to cut-and-paste a list of my hard drive folders to no avail many times. That in itself is worth the cost of this software! Thanks
You're so welcome, and thanks for watching and commenting!!
I have also used the clipping tool on my laptop but I can see lots of uses for this - especially since I'm working on writing up a family history for my Dad.
I've been using the 2015 version... just upgraded! Thank you!
Great video - I’d heard of SnagIt, but hasn’t realised just how powerful it is. Love the scroll-grab, and layout recomposition.
Really enjoyed this - am a longtime Snagit user but learned a few more things - thanks so much!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks Tessa!
So excited for this episode! Been using my computer snipping tool but this will be so much more useful. Can't wait to give this software a try

Thank you for this excellent video ... watching and learning from Ontario, Canada
Thank you, glad it was helpful!
Brilliant!!Thank you so much! I'm sure I need to update my old Mac...first, so I hope the code lasts a while.
Glad you enjoyed it! macOS System Requirements for Snagit: macOS Big Sur (11), Catalina (10.15), or Mojave (10.14)
Thanks for the review, I just purchased a license via your affiliation link. Thanks for the discount. :-)
My pleasure and thanks for the support! Keep an eye out here for follow up tutorials on Snagit. Enjoy!

How does scrolling work for you now? I have been having issues with scrolling in all browsers for the last 6 months. Do you have this issue?

Hi Marie, At this point in time no, it can't decipher handwriting. However, who knows what the future holds? Thanks for watching!
@@GenealogyGems Thank you. x 😊

Boy, these are a lot of comments to get to the instructions.
I'm just watching this video a year and a half later, and it looks like Snagit now has an *annual* fee for "maintenance" and upgrades.
When you add it to your cart, then review the cart, you can uncheck the annual maintenance option.
