Degesu turning evil at the last moment felt so forced, none of his actions and personality led me to believe he "wanted to be the demon king" And after last episode where the whole gang was getting bombarded with lasers, meaning the weapons are somehow a dangerous threat, the "Ginyu force wannabes" getting defeated so quick felt very anticlimactic, yeah they were shown over and over to not be much of a major threat but them being absolutely destroyed by Vegeta made me question why they are there in the first place.
Possible that it was a tactical misdirection, bringing Dendai away from his boss and trying to stall. He knew the Z Fighters would eventually defeat him and sense Dendai. And with him captured, no reason for them to stick around. And the fake Ginyu force was clearly just to pad out time with a gag group. They're almost a mini filler arc in every interaction they have in the story. We didn't need to watch them introduce themselves to Goma, didn't need to have a long scene of them shopping, and we knew from the previous end credits that the focus wasn't gonna be on them so that hinted their fight would be relatively quick... Which it would have been if they didn't repeat their introduction stances.
Agreed, I like Daima, but this last episode specific just felt like a filler episode where they just wanted to quickly get rid of some plot stuff and fill time doing nothing. I feel like half the episode was literally people slowly walking to places.
After watching this episode, it's now clear to me that Daima is an RPG. It has all of the narrative elements of your old school role-playing games from old videogame consoles.
@BlackFlash09 u just now see it? The last ep was like a direct queue from fire emblem and other SRPGs (the king's reinforcements were literally in green too which usually means support units)
I'll go even further fam, I think the reason this story is so disconnected and weird is because its SUPPOSED to be an RPG, I always found it odd how DBZ Kakarot had Daima DLC ready to go SO SOON. It's because Daima was being produced as the same time as the dlc and they relegated most of the plot of it to the game. I think Kakarot is where you will see the REAL Daima, that dives more into the lore and characters.
Thanks for not spoiling much with the thumbnail, because I had completely forgot to watch it when browsing RUclips and seen your video pop up. So I watched the latest Daima and came back to watch this.
It would’ve been much funnier if Vegeta blasted the knockoff Ginyu Force in mid-introduction and they just kept walking on. The show just acknowledging them as nobodies would’ve done been hilarious in itself over hyping them up.
My favourite gag in this episode was probably Degesu shaming Supreme Kai for what he does as a Supreme Kai,and Goku just going ‘Yeah, what do you do?’ Say what you will, but it’s 100% in Goku’s nature to just forget about most of the stuff his friends do outside of fighting.
My literal FIRST THOUGHT after seeing Gomah transform was "He stole Garlic Jr's flow word for word bar for bar" lol Also Degesu being evil was pointless, him staying an ally to Gomah or something would have been exactly the same
First time we saw the lady glind trade the hat for Hybis' belt, I genuinely thought it was Degasu in disguise, so I was really surprised to see she was a different character. She's really cute, even if she *was* Degasu XD
To be fair episode 15 doesn't even suggest it was a different character, and with Magic it very believable he disguise himself that way, honestly would have been funnier
For the Gendarmerie Force, how things played out with them was pretty much how I expected it to be. They were introduced fairly late in the series, and considering how many episodes were left I figured they'd be defeated very quickly in a comic relief scene. My only real issue is just that the heroes (Vegeta, specifically) defeated them so easily when the army of generic Gendarmerie actually gave the heroes a considerable amount of trouble last episode, and the Force are supposedly this super elite squad of Gendarmerie.
To be fair, an elite force doesn't exactly have to be stronger than the army. They just have to be individually stronger than individual soldiers. They also took the fight 1 on 1 instead of 5 v 1 which did not help them put any pressure whatsoever. Like let's look Freeza Force, sure The Ginyu force is infinitely stronger than Freeza soldiers. But Ginyu force weren't the only Elites. Zarbon, Dodoria, Cui, Vegeta maybe even Nappa were also the elites of the Freeza force. And I feel like Dodoria, Cui and especially Nappa would not necessarily be more difficult to fight than a whole army of freeza soldiers.
@@RancorSnp also the main source of trouble from Gendarmerie army are the weapon which is quite effective against Goku and co if it hit. So elite squad is pretty irrelevant here since they can't shoot faster than dozens soldiers, airships, tanks.
My bro told me that he found this episode to be the most hilarious one yet. I was was with, we were laughing all throughout it. The Gendamerie Force was all a gag. They weren't meant to be taken seriously. At least that's how I had felt when I saw them chowing down and lounging around, then destroying a ceiling with their elite demon gun skills and silly posing. They're a subverted spoof of the Ginyu Force, because unlike Ginyu, they're good guys. It was a miss for most, but I certainly found them hilarious. I do agree that Degesu was disappointing. I kinda figured from last episode. He didn't get the eye, so he clearly wasn't capable. His plan was not thought out either. What was he going to do? Run away? Then what? The hat girl was more clever than him. Kinda funny if I think about it that way. most of the comical scenes (I liked) - Vegeta wiped the floor with the Gendamerie Force (expected and hilarious) - The chonky one gives Goku a bag of chips. he munches along the way, eventually annoying someone - Panzy running far behind the team (mostly just silly) - Degesu beaten by the goofy hat that Glorio threw - Goku forgot Shin's job - Dende was adorable (simply cute) - Gomah trying everything to get the eye out, has a toilet epiphany - trying to get the demoness to agree to put the eye on and her greed - Gomah transforming more than 5x his body size
I thought this was obvious. And when they offered the food to Goku it reinforced that and how they're not really so bad. It was set up from when they went to the food store and met the Majins. All of this was intentional
It hurts to see how non of the main villains have shown their power or capabilities or even magic. I don't understand why Daima makes magic sound important and even give us a backstory to glinds just to have both Arinsu and Degesu not use magic against Goku and the gang lol I really hope this changes for Arinsu in the upcoming episodes.
The Kempei Tokusentai was set up as a joke. Their whole deal was not taking things seriously and refusing to believe there's was someone out there strong enough to beat the Tamagamis. I think the flaw was too much setup for such a simple punchline.
Jiren's backstory is so generic that it in itself is a joke, so that doesn't make me like him any more as a character than any individual Gendarmerie Force member, or even Pteranodon. In fact, the only difference is Jiren's fight was seriously animated and Goku and them won, and the Gendarmerie fight was played up for laughs and Vegeta won. Same joke.
There was somewhere in the script an attempt to give depth to Nahare and Degasu dynamics because Nahare accused Degasu to being ambitious and always wanting power, and Degasu said in return their species is always wanting that, asking like what he was again and Nahare IS in the supreme kai role. I thought they were go into that that Degasu's point was made that in the end they all wanted a position of power in society, Goku even asks Nahare what does he really do and he replies something like "I maintain peace in the world!". The way they edited that made it look like it was supposed to be he resolving that conflict while being the better and noble one but it also felt jarring in a way that the conflict felt ambitious and rushed and then brushed off, but maybe they hinted that just like sayans have that urge to battle and it can lead to evil, so does the glinds in their urge for a position of power or status? Or maybe that but just in the Nahare family?
I wanna say Masako's take-aways from this episode rely a bit too much on the assumption that we'll just never see Degesu or the bootleg Ginyus again when not only did Toriyama constantly have the extremely weak joke characters save the day like with Yajirobe or Mr. Satan, but we also specifically see the bootleg Ginyus being good people who've got a relationship going with the DuuKuu brothers, and that shot of Degesu being walked out looked mighty ominous, not like the heroes just defeated a bad guy.
i think it's understandable since he's going purely off of retroactively what's been set up. and yes, joke characters saved the day in toriyama's stories. but i think it's the execution that matters! in the pilaf saga, pilaf was an established threat, a lighthearted one but present one, we spent a good amount of time seeing his patience wane as he grew and rose to higher power, ntm oolong characterization up to that point. degesu's heel turn was obviously planned from the beginning but the bulk of it comes, goes and unceremoniously ends in an episode with his name but tells us a little about him. and while i'm apparently the only one that liked the gendarmarie force, i still think the scene would've worked better if it were shorter. it's like Hercule's Anime Only students in the cell saga where it's just extending the same joke that worked fine with hercule spread and stretched across 3 people in a show with already slow pacing. i feel if vegeta just did away with them in one move after all that fanfare and buildup, would've punched up the entire thing while also saving time to give back to focus on degesu. just dragging out or foregone conclusion at a time when the characters are apparently trying to be urgent when you could've easily just done both and still had it be funny.
@theradionicrevival8068 Again, this all implies we just won't be seeing any of these characters again, and I say we should wait a few episodes before assuming that.
@@Peasham buddy we are, Masako says as much himself. this is an episode 16 review for those who want his fresh thoughts on episode 16. obviously his opinion will change when more info comes out lol. ion think it's crazy for a guy to give their intial thoughts to something they just watched. if you can point to me the part where masako said this is it and the series will never reveal anything more, i'd love to see it.
@theradionicrevival8068 I mean I'm also talking about what you said, cuz y'all both are talking like we know the characters are gone from the show, cuz my initial thoughts were what I wrote out here. I'm not dogging on him, I'm just saying lol
@@Peasham i understand! just making it clear that's not what i think at all if that wasn't before. we don't know masako, so all we can have is his word. but me? i'm 100% aware there may be more to come and while i'm sure masako is, who knows, maybe you're right and he's so mad he puts down the series here because to him, it's as good as done lol, but since he said so. i like to believe he knows theres more to come and is just talking about first impressions here
toriyama's 1 dimensional writing is such a frustrating thing, because it really doesnt feel like its asking much for a _little_ more depth. we arent asking for complexe arcane lore that you can get lost in, we just want this evil character to have a personality and motive we havent seen a million times already. they didnt have to betray everything they had built up with degesu, but they did, and who knows what for. to wrap up a loose end before the show ends? was it the best they could do for the pacing? i really doubt its the latter because of how they handled pacing so far, and i really doubt its the former because of the ginyu force rip offs i already forgot the names of. the worst part is, i really think their concept would have worked as a quick gag, but this show really just loves to drag on in parts, and they chose the worst time to do it. they literally do not look like they were designed to be antagonists who were capable of holding up the protagonists for as long as they did, not without _some_ kind of joke to the scene beyond "haha, we are underestimating your strength, we are going to blow hot air about it until we get crushed in two seconds flat, muahahaha!!" i dont like how plain the pride troopers feel with them essentially all wearing the same clothes, and only about 3 of them being meaningful characters, but they at least had the benefit of being different alien races. not to mention, i feel like we SERIOUSLY reached the peak in terms of lame poses, i'd be impressed if we found worse. and i dont like opening my criticisms with _that_ much rudeness, but i just cant help it! it genuinely feels like those poses were selected to be as unimpressive as possible, but then heres the anime, giving each pose the same love and attention as the ginyu force's poses. which while also not very impressive, were at least more visually interesting, on TOP of the visual creativity from the diverse anatomies and colors of the ginyu force. meanwhile literally all five of this demon realm ginyu force's members may as well look like clones of eachother at different ages, fitness, and health. all of this comes together to where i'd be _shocked_ if someone genuinely thought it would be subversive to make these guys unimportant. the show _already_ established that theyre too weak to take on people who defeated tamagamis and majiin buu, if they were going to be plot relevant, it wasnt going to be by directly fighting goku, vegeta, and the others. if anything was subverted, it was my hope that i was gonna ultimately have fun with how the show utilized them, even if i wasnt a fan of their designs. but no, nothing. they did the totally expected thing, and lost. if toriyama and the writers were deadset on being _that_ predictable, then they could have at least kept the gag short and got the the show on the road, but instead they took up like, a third of the episode because.... i _wish_ i knew why.
Nah, this episode was fantastic!!! The ambient sound towards the end was some of the best of the whole show. Anyway, instant 10/10 when vegeta punched the guy with an eyepatch IN HIS GOOD EYE! That had me in stitches, some of the best characterisation through fighting ive seen in a long time
I personally really enjoyed this episode and I personally think that the buildup is leading to episode 20 being the finale, as has been rumored for some time now. On an unrelated note, did anyone notice that Gomah's transformation with the Third Eye was very similar to Scrappy-Doo's transformation with the Daemon Ritus?
It's entirely fair that you were disappointed, but sounds like you way overthought the plot for something Dragon Ball. Personally the Gendarmerie Force went about exactly as expected, maybe it would be fun if King Kadan had done it instead. Thought there might've been more to Degesu, but I enjoyed his attempt which of course also played into Gomah because he never told the girl where to go and that could only end one way. And Gomah fumbling about was entertaining to me. As well as thematic, how much more clear can you be that he's not worthy when a belt buckle can handle the eye better than he can
Yeah, expecting anything that uses the neurons in your brain from dragon ball content is stupid, thats level of thinking is SADLY exclusive to the db manga.
I think some surprises can happen, but more often than not they're either fairly superficial or more so dramatic irony. Everyone compares the Gendarmerie Force to the Ginyu Force for obvious reasons, but compare their introduction. Compare Vegeta having a panic attack at hearing five strong people were incoming vs the Gendarmerie Force getting caught slacking when all they needed to do was introduce themselves. The Ginyus are always presented as strong and professionally competent and as a joke also happen to be flamboyant. The Gendarmeries are played off as comedic and complacent the entire time, the results of nothing much happening in the 1st Demon World in millennia.
I love the music during the scene where the Majins and Arinsu appear with the Dragon Ball. It really sells the "mysterious powerful force" vibe the three would have from the eyes of Goku and the gang.
I feel like this episode is weird because I don't know what Degasu was trying to do. Since he went out of his way to get someone to get the belt but was trying to run away while holding Dende hostage. Like it might be he didn't believe the Third Eye thing, but then why send someone to follow through and get it at that point? It feels like he should have had met up with the girl to get the belt while taking Dende hostage then fleeing on an aircraft, but he didn't. Or have been so incredulous about it that he told her to give it to Gomah after she found it. It just makes the whole situation weird. Maybe to many coincidences happening all at once or something.
I disagree with you about the Gendarmerie force they were introduced as jokes from the start and never deviated from it i expected nothing less from them but to be a punchline
It would have worked better if they didn't show Goku & co struggle against goons and tanks in the previous episode. At that point just have the Gendarmerie Force be the reason they struggled
I actually kinda liked this episode. It's Toriyama's usual subversion game, but the subversion is that any sort of complex plot that could have arisen with Degasu and the third eye just kinda turned out to go as typically and straight forward as one might originally expect. A lot of the buildup around this world was to get viewers hyped up, only for it to mostly all just be a joke or a "oh, i was way overthinking this" kind of thing. I'm sure that probably sounds strange and i get why it'd be dissapointing with so many possibilities left on the table, but i really appreciate how just like, straight forward this episode was compared to the last ones. Felt more like the third demon world episodes in terms of pacing and story progression. The joke was that we overthought it, and i find that kind of funny.
I think the fact that everything up until now being weak is going to be a subversion of expectations so that they're surprised by whoever turns out as the strong one.
Why can't they simply just wish the glint trees back? If they can wish nameakians back when they have the ability to make dragon balls, heal people to full strength, and even materialize clothing, then a species thats real only purpose is to "forsee peace in the universe" than I'm pretty sure any set of dragon balls can bring back a tree or two.
The episode delays are Crunchyrolls doing not Toei. Even looking at the video games its clear that it was The English Side of Dragon Ball that wasn't prepared for Daima not The Japanese. In fact I think The English Voice for Goku (Mini) was decided after Daima had started airing.
The Gendarmerie Force went as most of us expected they were never meant to be a actual threat, King Gomah is the real danger now as he will probably be out of control with his new powers.
Yeah, we will see how seriously the show takes it, but based on what we have been shown would imply he is an actual threat now. Dabura needed to remove the third eye to be able to challenge Abura. Which means that with 3rd eye Abura would have significantly surpassed the Super Perfect Cell level, which is out power level measuring mechanic for Daima. So Potentially Gomah right now is actually on the level where the heroes have to take it seriously
I'm honestly enjoying DAIMA, I'm looking forward to these last 4 episodes and seeing how it ends and then playing it on Kakarot once the DLC drops ❤ But I've been curious about something for awhile (and please correct me on this), since DAIMA, SUPER (manga still ongoing) and SUPER HERO all take place right after Majin Buu's Defeat and before the End of Z... will things remain the same after Super wraps up and we go into the End of Z or will they tweak the story at that point?
I think the Gendemerie Force was only supposed to resemble the Ginyu Force in concept only. I don't think they were ever intended to be strong. Or perhaps they are as strong as the Ginyu Force, it's just that the main characters are so much stronger that even in their chibi forms, the Ginyu Force is nothing to them.
Not gonna lie, I'm a bit disappointed the girl wasn't actually Degesu in disguise. It's also interesting how Nahare might actually be seen as pretty unambitious by Glind standards, since Supreme Kais are basically the gardeners of the universes.
I really liked this episode, felt like a lot happened. The Gendarmarie Force continuing their trait of giving snacks to random children they meet was funny to me. I don't understand why you'd call them a lack-luster threat, they were never a threat to begin with.
I don't really see the comparison between Garlic Jr and Gomah. Sure they're similar in height and goals but their personalities are a lot different. Garlic Jr is honestly more brutal than Gomah. Garlic Jr uses power to his advantage and is ready to throw down when the time comes while Gomah relies entirely on his forces and henchmen and now that he has the power from the third eye he is confident to fight on his own. I also expected the Gendamerie Force to be wet noodles. The first time we see them they are just chowing down on snacks and don't even believe Gomah when he says that the children they've been fighting defeated Majin Buu. They even went to the store afterwards to buy more snacks. They were greatly underestimating their enemies. I had a feeling as soon as they stood in the way they were gonna get obliterated and that was in fact the case so that didn't disappoint me in the slightest.
My biggest takeaway is that Degesu's sudden fall and "I want to be the Demon King" was such an unnecessary heel turn that came out of nowhere. I'm not even sure it's Toriyama's writing. I'm wondering if this is the showrunners deciding "okay we gotta wrap this up" and just skipped a few pages.
This episode may seem a bit slow, or boring, but I think that is only because of the waiting. Once you go back and watch it after the season is over it won't be that bad. As far as the Gendarmerie Force goes .. I never thought they would be trouble. I kind of thought they would run away. The fact they got a grunt out of Vegeta was a shock to me. And as far a Degesu goes .. it isn't over yet.
Disagree with you on the Gendarmerie Force. From the moment in their introductory scene where they panicked at the notion that their foes defeated Buu, I felt like the expectation was set up from the start for them to be easily defeated by our heroes, not even really an obstacle. Hardly even counts as subversion when it was foreshadowed so heavily, imo (though it is still very Toriyama to present a group we're told are very strong by normal measure, but told and shown are pathetic compared to our ridiculously-strong protagonists; past examples of similar characters include that one guy who lost to Goku in the preliminaries of the World Martial Arts Tournament back in classic Dragon Ball, I forget his name, and Hercule/Mr. Satan himself).
The moment they nearly crapped their pants at the thought of enemies defeating Majin Buu. I knew these guys were going to get back and one slapped. Thinking maybe anything more than a joke fodder is the exact same thing people were thinking about the Minotaur at the beginning of the series.
The fusion bugs will probably be a gag just like half the other fusions in DB. I doubt it's really that important lol Also maybe Gomah will be defeated, and Arinsu will try to usurp the the throne, and then there would be this whole conflict, with Degesu, and Goku, and Shin, etc.
I was honestly a bit disappointed by this episode. Degesu was a real letdown with him now saying he was always going to betray Gomah out of nowhere with the stupid explanation "Glinds always aim high", not to mention he didn't even have a good fight or a fight at all. I also didn't like that they wasted the previous episode struggling against goons and tanks and then they now breeze through the Gendarmerie Force, at that point just have the Gendarmerie Force be actually strong together and be the reason they were blocked in the previous episode instead of goons and tanks... The rest of the episode was fine, although Gomah's new design is boring.
I can excuse the gendarmie force because it’s only 20 something episodes. Also if they were stronger it creates the plot hole of why not send them after the tamagamis the whole time instead
Speaking of lacking, where does MasakoX come from a videos ago in insisting Daima and Super are both canon? Just cause the Universe 7 thing was name-dropped in E2? Other than that they don't have blood I see no reason why we should consider them connected. The ending of this episode just cemented that position with the Jiren color pantone for Gomah. Adding the Gendarmerie Force to the recurring cast also seems like Toriyama further driving home this point: "ya know, if I do a knockoff Power Troopers there'll be no mistake they can't be in the same continuity, else someone would mention their similarities." My two cents anyway.
Ok i have watched alot of videos about Daima and the fusions they expect and i keep seeing that people have forgotting 1 thing about them Fusion Bugs... they can make up to 3 people fuse into 1, so why are people only saying, Goku and Vegeta fuse or Duu and Kuu Fuse and etc... why only 2 when they can use 3 people... i am hopeing for Goku, Vegeta and Piccolo Fusion, that sound powerfull to me, but hay what do you guy/gals think what are your 3 person fusion do you think might happen :P
I don't believe they specified 3 people being able to fuse. The art depicting the fusion kinda looks like 3 but i think that's just a depiction of them forming into one. Also it looks like there are only 2 bugs in one and not 3. I could be wrong though.
I have a wild theory that Daima is supposed to be an RPG. Isn't it odd how Kakarot announced a FULL OPEN WORLD DLC for Daima before the show even STARTED? I think Daima was always being planned to be played through Kakakrot. It's already basically set up as an rpg. The pace of the show feels so strange and disjointed. Characters never sit down and talk and banter like it rpg to build relationships. I don't hate Glorio and Panzi but i really REALLY just do not feel like i Know them AT ALL. We don't know anymore about them than episode 1. Why? Because your supposed to explore the demon world and the SEE the interactions between friends in an rpg setting, not an anime where has to be some kind of plot revelation every other episode. I honestly hope this is the case and they are not seriously expecting the average viewer to gasp when Glorios betrayal is revealed to the Z-team as if they have some deep connection or bond that was broken. It's the only way I can rationalize it, Daima the DLC came first and the anime is basically promotional material. It would make sense to me that Toriyama would be working on a Dragon Quest type RPG BASED on dragonball before his death as opposed to an entire seasonal anime.
idk i liked the fake ginyu force, was glad they all lived, and liked that they're not really evil the episode could have been better, don't get me wrong, but i'm glad we didn't waste a ton of time on a fight that ultimately is not going to have any stakes, even if they had been stronger
How would you all feel if the bugs are stolen by Glorio so he can fuse with Arinsu instead. I'm only saying this because Supreme Kai has his potara earrings so theres a chance Vegito could be the fusion the writers go with.
This might be the first time this show has actually disappointed me. Degasu’s evil turn felt forced and the Gendamarie force being effortlessly defeated felt so anticlimactic, especially after how great the previous episode’s action scenes were.
The speculation that was left, after episode 15, was more exciting than episode 16 was. I did enjoy the gags and fun, but Degesu just seemed really out of character, for what was established, for his character, already.
I see what you're saying but the Gemeradrie force (cant spell the name) just show how incompetent the demon king and his people are overall. They were never a threat outside of this evil eye belt

From the start until the first Tamigami fight Diama was some of the best Dragon Ball content I’ve ever seen, but after the second Tamigami fight the show has been really down hill. Each recent episode feels like it is just setting up for the endgame.

yeah, it really seemed like Degesu was acting on Gomah's best interests the entire time.
Degeau was evil anyways he didn't turn evil. Him wanting to be the Demon King was out of the blue though
I'm really hoping that when he said that he was lying to hide his true intentions, and he's still got something up his sleeve

Absolute Cinema
This is totally Toriyama coded

The woman repeatedly shoving the eye into his forehead cracked me up
You thought Garlic Jr., whereas I thought Jiren
He is wearing a Pride Trooper outfit to be honest.
Yeah, he did look like Jiren haha
you and me both lol
You're only saying that about his outfit not his character or fighting.
@ZEHAHAHA9697 yeah. Your point?
I didn't expect that force to do anything... They were terrified to hear they (Goku and Vegeta) defeated the Tomogami
Yeah... I admit too, I saw the Degasu stand off, and my only though was 'so when is someone gonna just high speed slap the gun out of his hand?'
And it also becomes a nod to Goku just not remembering that he has been hearing about universe 7 and other universes before Super
My literal FIRST THOUGHT after seeing Gomah transform was "He stole Garlic Jr's flow word for word bar for bar" lol
Also Degesu being evil was pointless, him staying an ally to Gomah or something would have been exactly the same
First time we saw the lady glind trade the hat for Hybis' belt, I genuinely thought it was Degasu in disguise, so I was really surprised to see she was a different character. She's really cute, even if she *was* Degasu XD
It's not a glind, just a regular demon girl like Panzy.
Kinda funny if I think about it that way.
most of the comical scenes (I liked)
- Vegeta wiped the floor with the Gendamerie Force (expected and hilarious)
- The chonky one gives Goku a bag of chips. he munches along the way, eventually annoying someone
- Panzy running far behind the team (mostly just silly)
- Degesu beaten by the goofy hat that Glorio threw
- Goku forgot Shin's job
- Dende was adorable (simply cute)
- Gomah trying everything to get the eye out, has a toilet epiphany
- trying to get the demoness to agree to put the eye on and her greed
- Gomah transforming more than 5x his body size
@@Peasham i understand! just making it clear that's not what i think at all if that wasn't before. we don't know masako, so all we can have is his word. but me? i'm 100% aware there may be more to come
and while i'm sure masako is, who knows, maybe you're right and he's so mad he puts down the series here because to him, it's as good as done lol, but since he said so. i like to believe he knows theres more to come and is just talking about first impressions here
Daima has been whimsical and hilarious. Without elaboration, it's been a joy to watch.
Your thumbnail is very questionable, MasakoX.
toriyama's 1 dimensional writing is such a frustrating thing, because it really doesnt feel like its asking much for a _little_ more depth. we arent asking for complexe arcane lore that you can get lost in, we just want this evil character to have a personality and motive we havent seen a million times already. they didnt have to betray everything they had built up with degesu, but they did, and who knows what for. to wrap up a loose end before the show ends? was it the best they could do for the pacing? i really doubt its the latter because of how they handled pacing so far, and i really doubt its the former because of the ginyu force rip offs i already forgot the names of.
the worst part is, i really think their concept would have worked as a quick gag, but this show really just loves to drag on in parts, and they chose the worst time to do it. they literally do not look like they were designed to be antagonists who were capable of holding up the protagonists for as long as they did, not without _some_ kind of joke to the scene beyond "haha, we are underestimating your strength, we are going to blow hot air about it until we get crushed in two seconds flat, muahahaha!!" i dont like how plain the pride troopers feel with them essentially all wearing the same clothes, and only about 3 of them being meaningful characters, but they at least had the benefit of being different alien races. not to mention, i feel like we SERIOUSLY reached the peak in terms of lame poses, i'd be impressed if we found worse. and i dont like opening my criticisms with _that_ much rudeness, but i just cant help it! it genuinely feels like those poses were selected to be as unimpressive as possible, but then heres the anime, giving each pose the same love and attention as the ginyu force's poses. which while also not very impressive, were at least more visually interesting, on TOP of the visual creativity from the diverse anatomies and colors of the ginyu force.
meanwhile literally all five of this demon realm ginyu force's members may as well look like clones of eachother at different ages, fitness, and health.
all of this comes together to where i'd be _shocked_ if someone genuinely thought it would be subversive to make these guys unimportant. the show _already_ established that theyre too weak to take on people who defeated tamagamis and majiin buu, if they were going to be plot relevant, it wasnt going to be by directly fighting goku, vegeta, and the others. if anything was subverted, it was my hope that i was gonna ultimately have fun with how the show utilized them, even if i wasnt a fan of their designs. but no, nothing. they did the totally expected thing, and lost. if toriyama and the writers were deadset on being _that_ predictable, then they could have at least kept the gag short and got the the show on the road, but instead they took up like, a third of the episode because.... i _wish_ i knew why.
As well as thematic, how much more clear can you be that he's not worthy when a belt buckle can handle the eye better than he can
agreed.
@@Sil3ntLynx exactly!
@@Sil3ntLynx They're more equivalent to the Murasaki Brothers from the Muscle Tower arc. Except Ninja Murasaki was actually funny.
I love the music during the scene where the Majins and Arinsu appear with the Dragon Ball. It really sells the "mysterious powerful force" vibe the three would have from the eyes of Goku and the gang.
At this point let Arinsu be the Demon Queen. She's clearly the most competent and qualified.
let Majin Kuu lead.
Supreme Demon King Majin Kuu is the way
I feel like this episode is weird because I don't know what Degasu was trying to do.
I prefer Ep 16 over Eps 14 and 15. But Ep 16 could have been a lot better if Degesu and the Gendarmarie Force weren't beaten so quickly.
I think Toriyama should've just made a Where are they Now special, taking place after the end of Z.
I disagree with you about the Gendarmerie force they were introduced as jokes from the start and never deviated from it i expected nothing less from them but to be a punchline
Gendarmerie force was biggest waste of time in this show
@@funhax7597 thats like calling the jokes in any comedy movie being "the biggest waste of time" in the movie. its total nonsense.
It would have worked better if they didn't show Goku & co struggle against goons and tanks in the previous episode. At that point just have the Gendarmerie Force be the reason they struggled
@mds_main they shouldnt have struggled against either or them.
@@saphcal
But if this series needed to have them struggle at least do it with the actual strong guys instead of random soldiers and a tank
"I miss Jiren because he was more interesting." -MasakoX
I think the fact that everything up until now being weak is going to be a subversion of expectations so that they're surprised by whoever turns out as the strong one.
I think if The Gendarmerie Sentai was introduced like this, in this episode, it would have been a bit more funny ;)
"Garlic Jr, is that you? Episode 16 review" dude nice bars
I liked the episode tbh. Can't wait For the next one
I'm honestly enjoying DAIMA, I'm looking forward to these last 4 episodes and seeing how it ends and then playing it on Kakarot once the DLC drops ❤
But I've been curious about something for awhile (and please correct me on this), since DAIMA, SUPER (manga still ongoing) and SUPER HERO all take place right after Majin Buu's Defeat and before the End of Z... will things remain the same after Super wraps up and we go into the End of Z or will they tweak the story at that point?
I think the Gendemerie Force was only supposed to resemble the Ginyu Force in concept only. I don't think they were ever intended to be strong. Or perhaps they are as strong as the Ginyu Force, it's just that the main characters are so much stronger that even in their chibi forms, the Ginyu Force is nothing to them.
If this turns out to be a flashback of another character telling a story or dreaming or playing an RPG or something, I'm going to be laughing so hard.
I was actually surprised by how quick it went compared to the last one. (Which given the longer intro I should have expected)
Like i knew they're going with the General Black parallel.... But it come of as a little short.
Gomah vs Duukuu..... That sounds really awesome.
a little short *giggle* like Commander Red?
I literally played that episode of DBZA after watching the newest diama ep to show my friend who’s never seen DBZA lol
All I can really say is I enjoyed the episode a lot
I did like how Goku and Piccolo just knew Vegeta would want dibs on the Gendarmerie Force.
I liked this episode alot the only thing that was kinda annoying was how quickly Degesu was foiled
The fact Gomah trying to scoop it out with a spoon at first had me wince.
I honestly was expecting vegetables to blast the gendamarie force as soon as they finished posing. Still loved what we got though
Getting close to that 750,000 subs
Just saw episode 15. That girl in the big hat who got the belt with the Evil Eye.....she sure looks a lot like Towa.
Disagree with you on the Gendarmerie Force. From the moment in their introductory scene where they panicked at the notion that their foes defeated Buu, I felt like the expectation was set up from the start for them to be easily defeated by our heroes, not even really an obstacle. Hardly even counts as subversion when it was foreshadowed so heavily, imo
(though it is still very Toriyama to present a group we're told are very strong by normal measure, but told and shown are pathetic compared to our ridiculously-strong protagonists; past examples of similar characters include that one guy who lost to Goku in the preliminaries of the World Martial Arts Tournament back in classic Dragon Ball, I forget his name, and Hercule/Mr.
Just realised they could have brought Gohan in with his Ultimate power having a magic link and be important in some way
Now this is a topic of What If
What if Dragon Ball Daima had a better plot?
Krillin getting flashbacks in that thumbnail....
Aaaah, the return of Garlic Jr. ... *WITH A VENGEANCE!!!*
The fusion bugs will probably be a gag just like half the other fusions in DB. I doubt it's really that important lol
Also maybe Gomah will be defeated, and Arinsu will try to usurp the the throne, and then there would be this whole conflict, with Degesu, and Goku, and Shin, etc.
This is the first episode i really felt the pacing issues everyones been talking about
I like how everyone on yt thought that girl was degasu 😂
Gomah has pretty much become Pride Trooper Janemba.
Id actually like the leader of the gendarmerie force to be a 2 DP character in sparking zero. Who uses his team mates as supers and ult
Adding the Gendarmerie Force to the recurring cast also seems like Toriyama further driving home this point: "ya know, if I do a knockoff Power Troopers there'll be no mistake they can't be in the same continuity, else someone would mention their similarities."
My two cents anyway.
@@artizzy2k2k well if the fuse bugs come in to play i guess we will see.
@LetPlayMaker10743 see we shall although a 3 people fusion would be cool
@@artizzy2k2k Indeed, Imagine the power of Goku and Vegeta like we seen with Gogeta and vegito but with piccolo's regeneration it would be Busted! XD
I always wondered why in the english version Pilaf and Garlic Jr had the exact same voice.
What if they use the plunger to pull out the eye out of Gomah, because it turns out they can't defeat him in the regular punchy way
idk i liked the fake ginyu force, was glad they all lived, and liked that they're not really evil
the episode could have been better, don't get me wrong, but i'm glad we didn't waste a ton of time on a fight that ultimately is not going to have any stakes, even if they had been stronger
How would you all feel if the bugs are stolen by Glorio so he can fuse with Arinsu instead. I'm only saying this because Supreme Kai has his potara earrings so theres a chance Vegito could be the fusion the writers go with.
Did anyone recognize any of the past demon kings silhouetted in episode 15?
I've been saying the saibajinn fusion with the bugs is coming since they said there was two seeds
This might be the first time this show has actually disappointed me. Degasu’s evil turn felt forced and the Gendamarie force being effortlessly defeated felt so anticlimactic, especially after how great the previous episode’s action scenes were.
Gomah: I want some Coke Toast
The duu kuu brothers dont need the fuse bugs to fuse
Yeah, but I’d watch the Gendamarie force do Baba’s tournament
The speculation that was left, after episode 15, was more exciting than episode 16 was. I did enjoy the gags and fun, but Degesu just seemed really out of character, for what was established, for his character, already.
Currently playing DQ3 HD2D and DQ11s and yes Daima is an RPG, specifically its Dragon Quest…Ball …Z
Great video.
Im still holding out for kuu and duu fusing
As long as we don’t get a reskin of General Blue.
That moment when you realize Super Saiyajin 3 Vegito will inally get a W.
I see what you're saying but the Gemeradrie force (cant spell the name) just show how incompetent the demon king and his people are overall. They were never a threat outside of this evil eye belt
Imagine someone making a fan game " The Legacy of Goku 4 demon world" GBA style. this would be a GREAT game.
I bet you gomah gives the fake ginyu force some powers next week
Its rare for dragon ball having super complex characters so don t be too shocked for degasu
Degesu was buying time

You're getting let down by your own expectations again. God dbz fans love doing this. EP 16 was hilarious for the most part me and my wife loved it.
From the start until the first Tamigami fight Diama was some of the best Dragon Ball content I’ve ever seen, but after the second Tamigami fight the show has been really down hill. Each recent episode feels like it is just setting up for the endgame.
Here's my prediction for the demon dragon wish, they wish for the glind trees to be brought back to life.
