Even the cover of this album has its story. It's not a montage, it's the actual picture of a buddhist monk self-immolating to protest the murder of buddhists in Vietnam. That picture won a Pulitzer.
And the monk prolly achieved Nirvana ! It doesn't get any more crude or graphic than this. USA get out of everywhere !
The monk burning is named Quang Duc and he never uttered a sound as he burned. After he passed, they cremated him again but his heart wouldn't burn to ashes. It's now revered as a holy symbol.
All sounds made by guitar, bass, & drums [the weird ones by guitarist Tom Morello]. You should watch him do it live, it's something to see.
Tom 'fuck you guitar, you are a keyboard now' morello.
I saw that dude play with his teeth at the Machine Shop with Night Watch Men. It was magical.
That's impressive! I will have to check out some videos of them performing live.
@@Houldey "And you'll be a turntable too, you bastard !"
@@mollyesanborn If you can, please watch him perform The Ghost of Tom Joad with Bruce Springsteen at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. It’s unreal good.
The album is near perfect I don’t think that’s really debatable it’s one of those timeless 10/10 albums.
It’s close 9/10
communism is timeless
Damn right
Best album of the 90’s.
@@hegajoecamel tool would like a word with you sir.
Maynard's vocals are on Know your Enemy. Wake Up is the song at the very end of the Matrix (I can see the DVD on your shelf so I know you've seen it). As far as their other albums go, Evil Empire and Battle of Los Angeles are equally as aggressive and icon. All 3 are amazing albums. Renegades is a cover album but has some really good tracks and some different interpretations of some classic songs
Ahh I thought there was a strong Tool vibe to Know Your Enemy! That explains it, haha. And your comment made the Wake Up/Matrix connection click in my mind too, can't believe I didn't remember that track when I was reacting to it. I've seen The Matrix quite a few times so I have no idea how I missed that. But this album was great, I'm definitely excited to hear more of their stuff!
I believe “Calm Like A Bomb” was in one of the Matrix films as well. That’s from their third album.
The mixing/mastering on this album is impeccable. Truly one of the best sounding rock albums ever. I would encourage you to listen to their song Darkness of Greed before you move on to their next album. That song only appeared on the soundtrack for the movie The Crow but it's from the same era as their 1st album and it's a great song that a lot of people don't know about.
As you discovered, the band was mixing rap and rock together. The guitarist Tom Morello is essentially acting as a DJ and making all the weird sounds you're hearing. The bass player Tim Commerford is top notch and one of the few people on the planet who could incite a festival mosh pit with just his bass. Brad Wilk is a great drummer and he used to set up his kit backwards on stage so the crowd had a better view of him playing (and he would look into a mirror to see the crowd). Zack de la Rocha is a great MC and if you enjoy his work in RATM you should check out his more recent work with Run The Jewels ('Close Your Eyes And Count To F*ck' is a good place to start).
It's so crazy that it's just the four of them doing everything, the range of this album sonically is really impressive. And I'll definitely give Darkness Of Greed a listen, thanks for the heads up.
@@mollyesanborn Tom Morello and Tool's guitarist Adam Jones were buddies in high school. Maynard provided the middle vocals and scream during "Know Your Enemy".
Yes! I think the tech advances over the past 20 years, opened up recording to more and more artists to produce on their own. However, the skill of mixing/mastering seems to be slowly getting rediscovered by young new artists. I’m excited to hear what’s coming
i am in the minority, but i found Evil Empire much better sounding with more punch. RATM sounds too quiet to me.
@@jackcravford8744 Evil Empire also sounds great and it is definitely louder. The downside of that is you lose some dynamics in the mix. If you’re unfamiliar with the topic, googling “mastering loudness wars” might be of interest. Also, the podcast Twenty Thousand Hertz did a great episode about it.
This album was a mix of Metal and Hip hop. One of the Best Albums I've ever listened to. There's no band like Rage against the machine.
I turned this on to my small town friends . Rage took off.
Stuck Mojo, One Minute Silence and (Hed)pe also do the metal and hip hop style very well.
@@themetalpig7613 yea but they aren’t rage.
Urban Dance Squad, the band that is rumored to have inspired RATM, also comes close imho. Persona Non Grata is a masterpiece in it´s own right, although that album came after RATMs Debut so it might´ve been influenced by RATM in turn aswell!
@@OGT4204it’s a way to shorten “rage against the machine” by just saying rage
'Killing in the name of' is one of those tracks where the crowd is going absolutely bonkers at concerts.
'Killing in the name'
The 'of' isn't there.
@@David-yp9ou ok
I was front row when they opened for U2 at Qualcom in 97?8....BLEW ME AWAY...
Oh absolutely! I'm sure seeing that performed live would be CRAZY.
@@phriedokra6158 Lucky guy! Not a big U2 fan but I imagine that was some gig!
This album literally changed the way I viewed rock. I remember hearing "freedom" for the first time and my 13 year old brain just being totally unable to process what I was hearing and becoming obssessed.. It remains in my top 20 songs of all time to this day. This album is a masterpiece.
Hard, politically and socially conscious Funk.
Zach is the voice of the revolution.
The lead music is all Tom morello on his guitar.
Rage on Behalf of the Machine are sell outs. Touring for cash and not putting out anything new since like 2001. Dissing Capitalism and selling $70 hoodies. Tom acting like everyone is beneath him. A microcosm of the sickness infecting the leftist movement. Very said to see.
The most political band of all time. When you look back on the lyrics it is really something to see how far ahead Zack was at the time. Timeless legends. All of them. Also, after Zack left the band the rest of the members went on to form the super group audioslave along side Chris Cornell from sound garden. You should check out their debut self titled next!
What I always loved about Audioslave is it really pulled out Cornell's spiritual, introspective and political side. It wasn't missing from Soundgarden ("Boot Camp" or "Jesus Christ Pose"), but there were also songs about having a dog as a child ("Never Named") or getting super high on acid ("Fourth of July"). Audioslave allowed Morello, Commerford & Wilk to maintain the "this matters" energy of Rage Against the Machine while doing something different that didn't infringe on de la Rocha. "Cochise", "Like a Stone", "Be Yourself", "Exploder", "Shadow on the Sun", "Moth". All excellent tracks.
Ahead of its time and (sadly) relevant up to this day. Very unique stylewise, I cant think of too many bands who come close to their style. Absolute banger of an album, not just with its sound, but also with the topics it tackles.
Very true, and it's sad how many right wingers have gotten into the band lately without even realizing that every lyric is criticizing them
One of the best albums from the early to mid 90s (and there were a LOT). So unique, angry, and true. This came out when I was in college, and really struck a chord with us. The sad thing is this album still rings VERY true today. Class warfare, political injustice, racial injustice, everything is just as bad (if not worse) now as it was back then.
Rage are one of those bands where every album hits. You definitely won't be disappointed checking out the next three.
Can't wait to hear them!
This came out when I was in college. I was very politically minded and latched onto it immediately when I heard it. I was into the riot grrl bands, the more politically minded punk bands, and hip-hop but I was a metal kid. Only thing really came close at the time for me was Rollins Band but RATM kept things more straight forward lyrically and musically.
Edited, to include got suspended from programming playlists for awhile when I worked in radio because I cued up the uncensored version of 'Killing in the Name' before 10 pm. Not my fault wasn't clearly marked in the computer.
Fwiw, it's worth noting that this album really set the foundations for nu-metal. It's combination of funky grooviness, Zack de la Rocha's aggressive barks, raps and flows and Morello's sharp riffs and near-psychodelic guitar effects all really left the footprints for the bands to come in the late 90s and early 2000s.
Can't wait for you to check out Battle of Los Angeles!
Tom Morello has a wild story. Grew up in the Bronx, went to school with Adam Jones of Tool, graduated from Harvard, moved to LA where he hung out with the rest of Tool but he was so influenced by NYC Rap scene that he incorporated that sound into his guitar to create an incredibly original sound. Joined RAtM, then moved on and eventually played for Audioslave.
He grew up in libertyville illinois tho lol
He also worked as a stripper when he first moved to LA and worked in the office of some Senator from California
He did not grow up in the Bronx. He was born in Harlem but moved to Illinois when he was a toddler.
@@insaneclownhoty Man. I dont know why I always thought he grew up in NY lol
@@wheatthicks Ohhhh.... I see thx!
RATM, one of the best political bands to ever do it, with a great mix of punk, metal, funk and hip hop. vocals are Zack De La Rocha, guitar is Tom Morello, bass is Tim Commerford, and drums are Brad Wilk. This is the band eveyone wanted to be. Enjoy.
They really do blend everything together into a perfect package, don't they? Some aggression, some groovy elements, a little hip hop. Really great stuff.
Should be called rage for the machine lol. Sell outs
@@rayv0125 If you had something to say would you rather a couple of hundred people a month heard it in a bar of many millions heard it every day on the radio
@@rayv0125 if you want to spread a message with any sort of success you have to unfortunately use the systems in place to do it. Out of all the popular bands in America, rage is one of the few that really can't be labeled as sellouts
hell yeah! super stoked that you're checking out this album!
Yeah I'm glad I've finally heard Rage Against The Machine!
I think this is one of the best albums of all time. Every track is slammin'.
It's cool to see/hear your reactions to these older albums. Reminds me how excited and surprised at times I was hearing them for the first time. Keep up the good work. Look forward to seeing more of your videos. I'm definitely a fan.
I listen to this album almost everyday 🤘😎 It's so well made that it's surreal, every track is a bomb! Glad you reviewed this one Molly, great video! 😁
Thanks for watching! Yeah this album is amazing, I can totally see why so many people wanted me to check it out. Glad I've finally heard it!
1992 was a great year for music. Rage Against the Machines debut, Faith No More - Angel Dust and another one I would add on the list would be Alice In Chains - Dirt
me too
Tom Morello is one of all time great guitar player. His sounds are so unique (a lot of those sounds come from his guitar.) Also great with Audioslave.
He is fantastic!! I'll definitely have to give Audioslave a listen now.
@@mollyesanborn Chris Cornell fronts them!
Killing in the name is a fantastic song. It's one of my favorites. Just sad people seem to miss the message and inspiration behind it.
Great choice Molly, definitely One of my favorite albums of all time. The second One named "Evil Empire" is fantastic as well. Thanks for listening to my favorite bands as you do 😁❤️
Such an iconic album. Wake Up definitely my favourite. That was Maynard's vocals on Know your Enemy. Considering you have The Matrix in your DVDs, I'm surprised you didn't recognise Wake Up as it drops as the credits roll.
Personally I think they lost their way a bit on their 2nd album, but their 3rd feels like a proper evolution from this album.
Evil Empire ? I love that album
@@chrono050 me too!
nah, Evil Empire (their second album) is awesome af too
@@enyazogd5325 Personally I didn't like it. Tinny production, none of the fire and energy that their debut had. At least for me. They had issues with the 2nd album, it was rushed as I recall and it shows. Objectively it sounds different to their 1st and 3rd, which I wasn't a fan of. I think Wind Below was the only song I really liked.
@@themetalpig7613 You don't like Bulls on Parade, People of the sun or Vietnow?
loving your videos, you're the first and only Reaction channel i've ever actually wanted to watch. Keep up the good work :D
This album is pure history. Absolutely awesome.
6:54 holy crap, I've never noticed this, but you're absolutely right!!!
It really has The White Stripes gone metal written all over it...
It's the guitar tone, paired with a "simple" but hard hitting drum beat and a catchy, repetitive guitar riff that completely fills out the sound of the song.
Take the power back is just so groovy I love it! Great video.
what I love about rage is everything they do is so consistent and done with so much emotion, belief, and conviction. the way the guitar sounds, the guitar tone, rhythm, sound of the snare and toms, lyrics, how the lyrics are said, composition, sound dynamics, etc... everything is done with a very singular, intense focus. there's no deviation, no confusion about what they want and who they are. unapologetic and unmistakable
One of my favorite bands, this is a amazing debut album. Zack is a phenomenal vocalist and Tom Morello is arguably the most inventive and influential guitarist of the last 30 years. Really enjoyed your reaction to rage, can't wait to see what you're doing next. Hope all is going well. 🤘😊🙏
All those weird sounds are the awesomeness of Tom Morello's guitar 🤘 They were nu-metal before there was such a thing, led by one of the angriest and most passionate vocalists of my lifetime. I'm thrilled to see you covering RATM, who 'radicalized' a whole lot of us in the 90s💪 If you look more into them you'll see it's not an image, they are legit activists who believe everything they say and fight for. Revolutionaries in so many ways✊
glad you finally did this album! This is definitely my favorite album of all time.
Yeah it's a pretty awesome album!
Take the power back has some of my favorite ratm lyrics. "The present curriculum, I put my fist in em, eurocentric every last one of em."
"Europe ain't my rope to swing on."
Oooof absolutely fire
I honestly never understood those specific lyrics. I imagine they make more sense to Americans. From a European perspective, very little that goes on in the US seems "eurocentric", quite the opposite. And as far as politics go, overall political attitudes in Europe seem much closer to what RATM is advocating for than US politics.
I can only imagine that an American's interpretation of the lyrics would more or less mentally replace "Europe" with "American white people", in which case the lyrics make a lot more sense. However, in such an interpretation Europe is also completely irrelevant in anything but a strictly historical sense.
Those two particular bits of lyrics are the one example I can think of where I really think they missed the mark. It sounds like something a republican would say. Given that it's RATM I'm _quite_ sure that was unintentional, and it probably comes down to cultural differences between the US and Europe.
@@Wishbone1977 the lyrics are about the world we live in , not about europe or us... in latin america ratm is fucking huge they lyric make a huge impact here.. just watch they concert in chile from 2010.
@@Wishbone1977 it's that history books and curriculums were written with a white European settler's perspective, and until recently, there have been little to no efforts to go into as much depth in black and brown history in schools. It's staggering, the sheer number of Americans who don't understand what actually happened on Thanksgiving, or that Columbus only "discovered" the American Indies, or think that the only history worth knowing about the civil rights movement in the 1960s is MLK's "I Have A Dream" speech and Rosa Parks refusing to sit in the back of the bus.
So much of American Imperialism and Neo-Colonialism is deliberately glossed over, (and subsequently our knowledge of it is so shallow), because they call into question the (false) idea of American Exceptionalism, which was the underlying belief running through our entire historical narrative.
Just found your channel. I love this band, seeing them next month. Loved your breakdown of the music! Strong work!
Ohhhhhhhhhhhh I am so excited for you. Keep going with this band. Evil Empire, their follow up, is my personal favorite. Glad you enjoyed!
this album fuckin rules, really love seeing your thoughts on this and it's kind of cool that you recognized a few tracks and it's unlike anything else before or since I think.
Lyrics are a MUST with Rage song reactions. I loved their music for 20 years, then when I started paying attention to the lyrics, I fell in love all over again.
They’re going on tour next month, highly recommend catching a show if you can!
How did you ignore the lyrics for 20 years??
@@xp8969 I didn’t ignore them, I got the gist. I just didn’t seek out to learn them so I feel like I was missing a lot.
@@Belly_Beane ahhh, I was beaten nearly to death by 6 cops a month before this album came out when I was only 15 years old so perhaps I was more motivated to research the things they were talking about, glad you started looking deeper into them
Glad you liked it! Rage has been one of my favorite bands since middle school, and they’re one of the bands that got me into metal. The next one, Evil Empire, is my personal favorite of the four. That one’s insane, get ready for it!
The ending of "Know Your Enemy" is so powerful, goosebumps indeed. I like making my own playlists of favourite tracks from bands, mixed back-to-back. That one had to be the closer for my Rage list. Couldn't be anything else.
This is by far their best album, definitely a classic.
This band was one of the first I really latched onto as a kid and this video is no exception to the rule that every time you react to an album that I’ve known about for a while, I get a new appreciation for said album. Every time. So thank you for that!
Thanks, I'm glad you're getting a new perspective on these albums from the videos! That's really cool to hear :)
Great reaction and review. I love your fresh perspective on this.
As completely fucking badass as this CD is, I think "Evil Empire" is just a little better. Didn't realize it at the time, but RATM's music probably played some part in making me the Leftist I ended up being. I started out being too enamored with just getting stoned and rocking out to the music, but if you really pay attention to the lyrics there's some really fucking powerful stories being told. Any time you hear them mention someone's name, Google it and it'll give some more context. If/when you react to it, looking forward to seeing your take on the song "Down Rodeo." In case you happen to read this, did you ever get around to watching "Manic?"
Just wait till you progress enough to realize that what they are actually preaching is the exact opposite of what they have sowed (fascism).
You into the Manic Street Preachers? If you're into leftist rock I'd highly recommend The Holy Bible.
@@Emmet_Moore Thanks for the suggestion. I'll check them out.
Great reaction to a great album!!! Nice little appearance by Maynard on Know Your Enemy!!
Since you're a fan of heavy groove, you would love Pantera. I would recommend Vulgar Display of Power first.
An album that also features Maynard from tool on one track, and Stephen Perkins of Jane's addiction on the the same track I think, fantastic debut, still kicks 30 years later! I've always loved groove in music, I kind of can't stand them as people, except Zack, but I'll always love the music....
You don’t know them as people, only what the medias told you.
2:34 I'm glad you admit that you have heard the song before i dont see other reaction people admitting that when its obvious
This and the next album, "Evil Empire" are my favorites from RATM. Can't wait to see you react to it!!
I'm really excited to hear Evil Empire!
your face says it all :) this album is SPICEY ! Great reaction as always
I'm seeing them live next month and would be perfectly happy if they played just this album front to back
HELL YEAH. I've loved your SOAD reactions so I was elated to see this pop up. Rage is one of my favorite bands, and probably always will be since their music is timeless thusfar (lyrically that's incredibly unfortunate). Wake Up, Know Your Enemy and recently Bullet in Your Head have been my favorites from the album, driving to this album is a riot (pun not intended).
Awesome , keep listening , all there albums are amazing.
Still waiting for White Zombie , but loving your choices
Love that you're familiar with a didgeridoo!! How cool...props from Australia!! Oh and you're a great speaker too. One of my fave all killer no filler albums of all time. They probs never reached the same heights as this album. Follow up albums had a bit of filler but some absolute killer tracks.
I love the 90s so much for all the crossovers of totally different music genres! Like in this case the hard, aggressive rock/metal mixed with rap and other elements, so good! I remember just buying this album without knowing anything about it(you could just do that in the 90s and almost every time you'd have gotten smth amazing) and was blown away by it! Every track is fantastic, with "Wake Up" being my favourite. Oh, and the "noises" or the instrument you wondered about in track 2 is just a normal electric guitar.
Can’t wait for you to do the next 2 albums, they get better and better
You'll LOVE the second album too! So thrilled you enjoy this album!!! ✊🏻
:oved it, I'm glad you listened, they really pumped people up back in the day
RAtM rule of thumb: when there's a sound you've never heard before... that's Tom Morello's guitar magic
one of the reasons i listen to RATM is because of the basslines, yet Tim Commerford is not given the recognition he deserves
A really interesting thing about this band is that it's all made with just guitar, drum and bass. No keyboards or sampling at all. Tom Morello is an incredibly innovative musician who found ways to make really interesting sounds with his guitar. I was absolutely obsessed with it when I started learning to play.
Morello treated that guitar like a dj sample deck, including a kill switch and scratching it. All those mental sounds are him on guitar. completely unique approach, one of the greats.
What is funny to me is you have "The Matrix" on the shelf to your right. Rage is at the ending of that movie where Keanu flies off after being in the phone booth. Song is called "Wake Up" which you reacted to in this video haha.
A lot of people don't really notice music in movies, actually that's often the point of a soundtrack, to just enhance the emotions behind the imagery and at the same time not distract from it.
Hell yeah! I love RATM! "Know your Enemy" is up there among my favourite songs ever. Gotta love a band that can be equal parts groovey and serious.
Yes, I really enjoy that groovy/serious quality too! Makes it entertaining but meaningful at the same time.
This album has excellent bass, never really listened until I added a subwoofer to my car. Now its on repeat.
Rage Against the Machine instantly became my favourite band when I first heard them at the age of 14, and remained that way for a good couple of years. The first songs I learned how to play on guitar were Rage songs, and they were important in getting me to question authority and preconceived ideologies. All three of their albums are fantastic, filled with killer riffs, tight grooves and wise words and gripping deliveries from one of the greatest vocalists ever. I'd say Evil Empire is my favourite out of the three, I hope you enjoyed this first one enough to give that a listen 🤘
I can see why you were so drawn to their sound as a band, just hearing one album from them I can tell that the four of them work really well together in terms of creating a really captivating, dynamic and powerful sound. I will definitely be checking out Evil Empire! I loved this debut from them and am really excited to hear more.
Taking me back to so many memories of high school with these! I LOVED the "Evil Empire" album in high school, and "Battle for Los Angeles" album in college. My god, I wish these guys would reunite; I would be VERY interested in what they'd have to say lyrically these days.
Thank you for reacting love that album you should listen to Evil Empire next
I asked on one of your videos if I could request an album, but I can't find the comment to see if you replied or not. Either way it's cool.
The album is Southern Discomfort by the band Rehab. The album is an absolute classic to all who have heard it.
Keep up the good work. Cheers!
Can't wait to see what you do next.
The Absolute best band I’ve seen live, the crowd energy is like no other! Saw them at Rock The Bells back in 2007, Co headlined by Wu Tang!
Rage was not really a nu-metal band, but was possibly one of the biggest influences on the genre. It was hip hop, but as a band. The guitarist was experimenting with using his guitar like a DJ would scratch a record, while the bass and drums held that precision groove. Decades later the three instrumentalists would join with MCs from Public Enemy and Cyprus Hill to make Prophets of Rage. In between, they would lean closer to rock when they joined with Chris Cornell from Soundgarden to make Audioslave. Crazy to think of the history this band has had.
If you want to know what instrument all those noise came from
It's called a
Tom Morello
Este álbum es Increíble no importa de donde seas si te gusta el rock tienes que haberlo escuchado 10/10 la reacción 🎊🎉👏
Hey if you like this, you may also like audioslave. Both bands share a guitarist, drummer and bass player. Difference this time is the singer is Chris Cornell of Soundgarden.
honestly I would recommend soundgarden first, either superunknown or badmotorfinger. then audioslave after
It's not Rage against the machine, but the switch between Chris Cornell from Zach Dela Roca( I think I'm saying his name right) just works. A must listen, though listen to soundgarden first (preferably badmotorfinger).

Yep Rage certainly has a better ring to it, I agree! Zack totally kills it across this whole album, his vocal delivery really packs a punch.

yes yes yes Molly thanks for your reaction to one of the best albums of all time 😎💯
Glad you enjoyed Rage. One of the best live shows I've ever seen, when they toured with Quicksand. The entire club was a mosh pit 🤘

im 60 and love RATM ...going to see them in the summer....this is like doing coke as a kid and having deep discussions about music...but never alone..
"huh? the land of the free? whoever told you that is your enemy!" gotta be one of the best and most evergreen lyrics written.
They're one of my favorite bands right now. Theraputic to scream along with lol😆 their sound is 🔥
Man this album made me fall in love with metal all over again. Hey Molly you should cosplay as their guitarist Tom Morello for the next Rage album review! If you're up for it of course! 😆🤘
What a great album! Glad you got around to some RATM. This is my favorite from them. The Whammy pedal from Digitech is HUGE on this album. Tom Morello really pushed the boundaries on modern guitar with this album. Lots of new sounds for the time.
The Digitech Whammy guitar pedal came out in 1989 and is a pitch bending effect for guitar that can go up two octave and down three octaves. (The first whammy only went down two octaves, I think). Tom Morello used the pedal for a lot of weird sounds on the album trying to emulate sounds that he heard around the city area and in hip hop music. Harmon (the company that Digitech operates out of) was sold to Cor-tek company (who makes Cort guitars) in 2022.
I love that you really enjoyed Wake Up while sitting a foot away from the DVD of The Matrix on your shelf. Wake Up plays as that movie ends and the credits start.
Another one of my favorites! I'll never forget blasting "Freedom" after HS graduation! Such a phenomenal mix of rock and hip hop, sung by a singer who, agree with him or not, is incredibly passionate and dedicated to what he's preaching! I love it!
So jealous you just got to hear it for the first time ever. When I heard it for the first time in the nineties it totally blew my mind.
Cant wait for more Rage review of Evil Empire!!
I like the Mudvayne comparison bass and groove wise. Definitely one of my favorite albums from them. Freedom might be my top Rage song.
Yeah... We need some more Mudvayne reviews for sure.
@@Around-the-fur__ at least the follow up to LD50. After that they really went downhill in the writing department aside from a couple songs.
It's unfortunately true... End of all things was good... And they had some good songs like "Fish out of water" and "Scarlet letters" later on.. but I agree
So excited to see them with Run the Jewels next month. This album is a masterpiece.
very cool the reaction!
i love how loud the bass is so much. they just have an incredible bassist
Another top shelf review! 👌
I think you need to listen to some Muse albums in the near future!
Very odd, original and amazing!
And you can hear some rage against the machine influences scattered throughout their catalog!
Keep up the good work!
id love to be able to listen to that album for the first time again!
OMG MOLLY! I’m so Stoked that you are listening to this Masterpiece! 🙂🤘🏼
"Wake up" is the ending track they used on the first Matrix movie. This album and the Battle of Los Angeles are my fave Rage albums.
Wake up was the ending credit song on the first Matrix. And Brass against the machine did a cover on the new Matrix.
After listening to Rage's discography, you should listen to the band Audioslave, the guitarist, drummer and bassist are the same of Rage but the vocalist is Chris Cornell (Soundgarden and Temple of The Dog). It is very different from Rage in many ways, from the theme of the lyrics to the sound itself, especially on the second and third albums.
And yes, those weird sounds are from the guitar
I will definitely have to do that! Audioslave has been on my list of bands to check out for a while now but I didn't realize it featured one of the members from RATM.
Not one member
They are all members of RATM
it only changes the vocalist
