- They never expected to have a house fox. Ksenia found Sunny when he was just a kit. He was injured and alone, lying helplessly by a fox hole. Poor baby got attacked by farmers who think of foxes as pests. This tiny ball of floof stole Ksenia’s heart and she did everything in her power to help him. Now Sunny is a happy confident fox with a bunch of cat and dog best friends.

I've been rescuing 6 cubs in my garden after their mum disappeared!! I didnt take them in but have fed and watered them every day since -- i mean it was that or listen to them slowly starve to death -- so yes, it's important!!
There are 4 which survived and look a picture of health now, the mum eventually returned but I still top up their food every day with some lovely raw liver!
Very. I just rescued a baby kitten from the Hwy in town where I live. It's hard finding homes. There are so so many cats in the US already. But I didn't want the baby to be hit or eaten by a predator. He/she is THRIVING. Just gotta find someone to adopt the kitty now. ☺🙏

Sunny is unreleasable due to his damaged legs but he’s living his best life with his partner in crime, Nick. He’s absolutely adorable and his antics make each day special! 😊

keeping foxes at pets concerns me because when you take him out of the wild as a pup your taking food from other wild animals that needed to eat him to survive

Years ago a friend found a very young kit on the side of the road beside her dead mother. His dog had recently had a litter of puppies, so the baby silver fox became one of the pack. When old enough to be released, she decided home is where the heart is. She was never leashed or kept in, but she stayed the rest of her life. She was almost 20 when she died after a long, healthy, and happy life. They are beautiful and incredibly lovely little things.

We did a mechanical installation in rural Nova Scotia. A little guy, red fox, sat there for over 8 hours, just looking. Beautiful animals...thank you for helping Sunny...

I know what you are saying. Foxes generally wreck crops, dig holes that wrecks very expensive equipment, etc. . There is money involved, it is not cheap to plant crops and the equipment involved. There has to be a way for farmers and animals to get along. I don't know the answer.
@@hawks2252 well farmers in the past nearly exterminated wolves, which kept coyotes and fox populations in check. The answer is definitely not killing them, unless you want to be overrun with rats, mice, rabbits, etc.

BTW... the main damage foxes do is not crops but killing new-born lambs, they will also kill pregnant ewes who roll onto their backs and get stuck...a common occurrance..
Fox culling is done by shooting, trapping is cruel and inefficient (& illegal in a lot of countries).
Originally a city guy, I live in a rural area (17 years now) with farmers as neighbours and have come to understand the need for controlling the fox population...there is certainly no shortage of them still, around here (west of Ireland)
@@peterfitzpatrick7032 Trapping is legal in most U.S. states. In the U.S coyotes are a bigger problem than fox. Side note - did you get to the Isle of Man TT race? I need to stop by your country and check out that race.

Since Nick was a puppy and Sunny was a small kit, it was like they were litter mates. That's probably why they got along so well. I'm sure they helped each other.

I’ve learned recently through watching RUclips that foxes are extremely affectionate, playful and smart animals. I teared up and smiled watching the connection between these two ❤
They can be! However, an adult fox can also turn out to be very shy and avoid any interaction with humans what so ever. One should not assume that a small, young fox will display the same behaviour as an adult fox. SafeAFox rescues a lot of foxes from Furr Farms and from Owners that gave up their "pet" fox because they realised, the animal was too much to handle once it grew up or it didn't turn out to be as "cuddly" as it aged. Foxes really only accept affection on their terms and some Foxes, never do. They are animals with a comlex and wide range of behaviour.

So interesting ! There is a RUclipsr from England that I happened to stumble upon named “Debs” she has become this enormous sensation nationwide for having I believe 4 specific foxes both male & female that she named and they come and visit her everyday! She feeds them and has created such an amazing bond with them it’s beautiful 🥰.
They are a part of the K9 family so it makes sense that there's possibilities of a human/ fix friendship however they should be treated exactly the way we do coyotes and wolves, they are wild and can harm you. keep distance. It's not worth catching rabies or any other possible infection or losing a finger just to pet the floof
@@Pittymom To be fair as cute and tempting as that is, I find Debs actions very questionable. I understand her reasoning. Foxes are great animals! But there is a saying among those that rescue foxes. A well fed fox is a dead fox. There are simply too many risks involved. And wild animals, shouldn't be feed just like that.
@@CrniWuk If you watched any of Deb's videos you will understand those foxes have like 0 danger of that. They are skitterish as hell to literally ANYTHING but her, even cars/people a block+ away you cant even see on camera.
She can't even get their attention when literally anything is amiss anywhere in the neighborhood.
This is pretty typical fox behavior. They can bond to people but they will generally only bond to a single individual or small number and still be completely in on guard stranger mode to everyone else.

Hi Sunny, you're so cute! 🦊 We adopted a baby fox too, he had severe lung problems, and could also never be released. IMPORTANT: Everyone, foxes are NOT like dogs or cats, so PLEASE take her advice towards the end.
We've been rescuing and rehabbing animals for years, and if you live in an area where there is wildlife like foxes, please consider taking some training in wildlife care ❤️🙏🏽
Courses are available in many areas, contact your closest wildlife rescue organization to find one near you. It's SO worth doing! Also often it's free when you volunteer time helping out with the things that don't require training, like cleaning and laundry and stuff like that.

Not everything is white or black. Foxes are really opportunistic, and kills chickens and rabbits from farms if they are able to. Of course, killing a mother and her puppies is an act of cruelty, and farmers should know best and just reinforce their security, with fences and humane traps, but foxes are a pest and thats a fact. No matter what, farmers should learn to live with foxes without violence, since humans must be the wiser part in a conflict like this one.
Around chicken farms they're pests alright. If they get in a henhouse they kill every chicken in there and eat one.
In urban areas though they are of great benefit because they hunt rats and are very good at it. I feed two every night and all my vermin problems are gone.

Fox's make excellent pets. They are happy, mischievous, energetic and glad to see those who care for them. I would love to have one.
Is heart warming to see the knidness towards the little fox and you can see he loves the connection and attention. Foxes are persucuted animals with medival sick evil cruel sensless fox hunting and cruelty still happenning in England. We are always campainng to ban it but they still kill them for fun or so called 'sport'.
Whereas in Australia they're considered vermin.It's nice to forget they're a predatory animal and ignore the damage they do to livestock and native fauna.

Nice story. Keep in mind that many wild animals do not ever gain a very strong attachment to humans. Most are too energetic, headstrong and aggressive to make good house pets.
My guess is because Sunny was so small, the wild in him was diminished. There were no other foxes to teach him he is a fox. He got a human Mommy, along with dog and cat sibling. Sunny will always have some wild in him, you can never fully train foxes, they are a pet that take a lot of dedication and work. I'm glad he found such a loving home.
You brought a tear to my eye and a fond memory of a wild fox named Foxy by my grandmother. When i was a little girl we would go after dinner to the driveways end and call out for Foxy. She would come running and get her meat scraps we had leftover from dinner and take then back to her den. The second night we did this she brought over one of her babies and dropped it by our feet. My grandmother told me she had brought her baby to show us hers just my grandmother had brought me with her. I was only 5. I can remember that like it was yesterday. Foxes are very intelligent and loving creatures. Good on you for saving that little baby. Thank you God Bless you!😊

I love foxes. A fox was the first thing I painted. It was a cartoon fox in hunting gear. I turned it into a Christmas card, with a small tree and a calendar with Christmas circled. I rescued my doxie Walter 10 years ago, from a mean old fart who didn’t feed him or walk him. Fortunately, I had just retired and kept him outside all day every day, walking in a nearby park, where he played with scores of other dogs. Our life together has been a very happy one, even though his dachshund genes carried a number wesknesses: hip dysplasia and degenerative disc disease, and about 4 cases of food poisoning. But he is in great health now and will celebrate his 12th burthday in October, God willing!

I love foxes so much, they have the perfect blend of a cat and dog in their gorgeous little faces!
It makes me sick that some people see these little beauties as vermin. Their entire lands have been taken over by selfish humans and they're forced to scavange and cross dangeous roads to survive. It's always been my dream to open a rescue sanctuary one day.
For the most part unless sick or diseased if you properly secure fowl and livestock they are great to have around fir vermin control

I live in the country, but not a farmer. Over the decades we’ve been living there, occasionally we were invaded by mice. About two years ago, we had noticed a group of visitors on our security cameras…silver foxes. It looked like a mother and three kits. Our mouse problem seemed to disappear when they showed up. They are welcome guests on my property anytime. We still see them from time to time.
