Thank you for sharing your swatching - especially for including that all the colours (from the two sets) are different, no repeats. Also, thank you for including how the different brands smudge with the fingers. That is really helpful for me to compare with what I already have. 😁
You are welcome :D happy it can help and is interesting to someone :). Which oil pastels do you you have? I still have to try the mungyo soft oil pastels I hear they are great :D
@@color-dive I have the Pentel 50 and van Gogh 60. I was looking for lightfastness, and the van Gogh were recommended to me for that and having the pigments on the label. Pentel are good, basic starters and blend well; they won't melt in your hands either. The van Gogh are softer and lay down more pigment more easily than the Pentels; but they only layer up to three or four layers. Because I wanted to add white highlights to something, I was looking for a softer white which wasn't super expensive (and preferably won't melt in my hands!) like Sennelier is. I think I have found what I need in the Paul Rubens - and I may go for the macaron set as it has a lot of lighter shades which will be really useful for blending. I was considering the Mungyos, but got slightly confused by the hard oil, soft chalk and soft oil sets - when I tried to look at one of the oil sets, I kept having all three come up in my search results which got very confusing very quickly... I'd be interested in seeing how they look on paper if you are planning on doing a video review/swatch/picture/whatever! 😁
Thank you, I should have listened to others when they said that haha, I learned it the hard way XD but I saw that I can still use the Mungyo that I have as an underlayer so at least I have some purpose for them ;)
I have Mungyo Gallery Artist's Soft Oil Pastels, I can guarantee it's good 😁 I also have the Faber-Castell one and had the same 'nope' experience, totally understand your feeling 😑 but I kinda like it though. Paul Rubens has recently released a new set called the Morandi, which is muted kind of colors. That seems to be the trend among the Chinese oil pastels I see on Aliexpress. They all have 3 series 'Basic', 'Macaron' 'and 'Morandi'. Interesting! I want to try Paul Rubens oil pastels but I saw another brand called Kuelox has Macaron set that is also water-soluble! I'm a sucker for water-soluble, so I plan to go for that one instead 😂

The Mungyo Gallery Extra Soft is better than the Mungyo brand you have. Thanks for the review, Paul Rubens is very nice!!

It's the Extra Soft Oil Pastels. Just clarifying because they also make soft 'chalky' style pastels.
