The good thing about putting is that it’s life like if you’ve ever played real Golf you will realise how difficult putting on the green is, and I actually think that’s a good thing. If padding was easy then you’d be shooting 55 in no time and that would be pointless. I like the fact that the game has some quirks in the putting and is a difficult challenge. I see the positive in that.
I think putting is the best part of this game. I agree with the comment above that the camera needs to be able to be lowered further. I putt without the beads and the cameras are of no help when it comes to reading the greens. Great game overall.
@@McDole92 this happens in real life all the time. You see PROFESSIONAL golfers look confused sometimes when their putt breaks one way and they read the other way. In the game, I’ve learned to use the below/above to help with the initial read. If the ball is above your feet, it’ll start left. Below your feet, it’ll start right.
You can see while he’s putting he’s not even lined up correctly. Not to mention the line can be adjusted based on the speed you putt alongside the weather conditions which this games Engine takes great accountability of. As a golf dude who’s played over 15 years I love it, but it’ll be nice to implement a more hands on UI to help newcomers.
I much prefer EA over 2K. I just hope they give us even more courses in an update like Oakmont and Pinehurst #2. I know Winged Foot is very strict about licensing, which is why it has yet to appear in a golf game, but I would love to be able to play that one someday.

The one thing that is completely unacceptable in a 2023 $70 game is the lack of crossplay. Its clear the game is meant to be played in groups or with friends, how does a studio as big as EA Sports not have crossplay enabled.
Game play mechanics aren't to good to me. Don't like how you have to add a fade or draw to your shot instead of letting it happen naturally. Putting is a better on 2K which I prefer. Visual and sounds EA. But game play 2K is better. Not feeling it.
Your favorite thing is the sound of the driver slapping the ball 147 yards? Did you create your grandma as your playable character?? That’s a gap wedge distance for most the pros in the game… 😂🤣

I have my swing set to the fastest setting and it’s still slow as hell. Putting is frustrating too but I can overlook it because the game would be too easy without it. I’d love to sink a few more birdies though 😎 Other than those things, great game! I’ll be playing a lot this year

u guys don’t find it too choppy on console ? I find the presentation and career mode unbelievable. But I can’t get over the choppy gameplay. The sound of the ambient noise is fantastic. The sound of the club hitting the ball not so good in my opinion. I can’t wait to get bashed on here
You’ve said enough to put me off buying it. It feels like 2K golf and it’s poor too. Like every sports game, it’s impossible not to succeed. It doesn’t take long to be worth 100 million in FIFA but in reality these are extremely rare when you consider the failure rate. Far rather see a realistic career rather than play until you are the best.
Good review, very informative. I agree with most everything you said, but I haven't found the putting too hard. Although I do have it set to easy, so that might be why.
The crowd audio is coded with no swell from left to right and sounds like it's being played on a Sega Genesis, there is 0 aim, the settings tab disappears frequently forcing you to restart the game, the greens are glass, often times the putting line is opposite of where the break is and the character creation has 3 options. Terrible game and waste of money.
My biggest complaint is landing the ball in the heavy ruff/sand traps makes zero difference than hitting off the fairways. I will be in heavy ruff and blast the ball out no problem right to the green as if it was sitting pretty on the fairway. The penalty for heavy ruff/traps should be huge but i have found it no different. Very frustrating
What im trying to say is when the ball lands in the rough/sand trap it isnt any different than hitting off the fairway. If i end up in heavy rough i can still put the ball right at the flag. The penalty for being off the fairway should be more. I have all settings on hard except for putting so it doesn’t seem to make any difference
In a perfect world, i would have those golf courses with the 2K gameplay. EA made a big mistake thinking that 30FPS would work juste fine... NOT! The putting feels clunky. I do like the crowds ans ambiance.
The game is great! 😁😁😁 the only thing that is annoying is there is a slight lag when drawing back the club. (Actually the lag is even at the menu screen).
I don't like EA anything but after the last copy and paste 2K game, at the very least it might put a fire under their butt for the next iteration. Competition is good so long as EA allows it.
3:35 uhhhh.... You have absolutely no clue how to use the "put read" feature, do you??? Try reading the "help" section. You're using it very very very incorrectly.
It’s so robotic and too easy to just hit greens all the time. The damn menus are a mess too. Hit down on analog and it jumps down to the next menu option and changes the settings. Feels so robotic with the players
I’m on the fence with this one because I’ve always played everyone’s golf and just love the fun factor in that game. After watching this review I think I’m going to give this game a chance 🤞🏼
I'm playing the 10hr free trial...I wouldn't buy quite yet if I were you. It needs patches, unfortunately they are important one's. Putting ruins everything you did good. Par 5 you'll get on in 2 shots. You'll still bogey the hole with this putting
Great review, I found it too easy and even with the highest difficulty I almost had to try to have a bad shit. Hopefully this can be improved. Looks great though!
No it's not worth your money if you're looking for a serious golf game. If you like fifa you'll like this. Fifa is for those who don't like football games. This game is for golf fans who don't like golf games. EA have released yet another in a long line of sports games with broken and scripting. I only play career mode and the ai scoring is brutally broken. It's ludicrous. I've posted a bug report to ea and they've obviously ignored it. If you want a realistic golf game without farcical ai scoring then this game is a waste of money. If you want a game that looks great and you aren't bothered about realistic gameplay then you'll love this. The game could easily be brilliant but ea never fix the broken ai in their sports games. Sadly there's no decent and authentic golf game at present. Maybe one day we will actually get a realistic golf game. But it won't be from EA.
Lack of player customisation is a killer for me. When I play a career game I play as me every time. If I can't make a player that looks even a tiny bit like me. I don't play.

Putting has some issues but you aren't reading the putt line correctly. Once you master the line putting is incredibly easy.
