      Glad to have a PC game again. Has that typical ea sports play control and feel. Not sure I like the randomness. But I'm highly disappointed there is no turn based multiplayer or a way to communicate with other players like a chatbox or voip. That being said I enjoy playing it. Definitely overpriced though when you consider its lacking so many features, modes and options from the old tw08 game.

    I'm enjoying the career mode but this game has a lot of missing pieces for a $70 price tag:
    - no replay
    - no driving range/putting green to practice
    - reads are usually off especially in putting. Irons picking and choosing when they want to be affected by wind is annoying too
    - would be nice to be able to fastforward CPU shots when playing modes that have multiple golfers
    - graphics are lacking considering this is a next gen (current gen now???) game

    Great video. I played 2K with a mouse, because a controller was so far out of my ability. Game even became very unpredictable using mouse. Timing was all over the place. Calibration did no good. Then along comes EA, and I'm a happy camper. Even using a controller. If EA comes out with a course designer program, and introduces 2v2, and 4v4 like 2K along with play order, they will have a home run. I suspect EA will come out with additional courses in the near future.

    • @Kilbride10
      @Kilbride10  Год назад

      Yes. I think the limited courses (compared to 2k) has been a widely voiced concern. While we are still only a month into the game cycle I would imagine it is of high priority to them to continue to expand the course list to prolong engagement

    I played my first round this morning... on Pebble Beach, nonetheless. I think they updated the game already to make it less frustrating. For example, there is an option now to give you any put under 3 feet. Coming from someone who played TW games from 2008 to 2012 and then RM in 2015, I feel at home already. The graphics are FANTASTIC. The game has a great golf atmosphere. It has been a very long time since I had that feeling. It feels truly great.
    My only grip so far is that it is a REQUIREMENT to setup an EA account otherwise you get into offline mode with NO SAVED progression. This is insane. EA is asking me to change my password, I just want to play a round of golf, for fuck sake...

    So far, I have only played the USGA event, and it didn’t occur, but I recall in TW 13 or 14 there would be crowd roars from other holes while you were playing and the game would say “ birdied 13 to go to -7”. It totally amped up the immersion, and I hope it’s either in events I haven’t hit or they add it as they continue to update the game.

      Ea certainly is improvement from 2k in that aspect however you are right, it seemed like such a focus a decade ago, you would imagine atmosphere would be improved in that time period however it seems to be the opposite. yeah 2k has far more variablity in shot outcomes. Their swing all around gets the edge for me, feels more realistic and the outcomes seem it too. EA isnt far off but a bit too arcadey and slow for my preference.

      Based on my discussions with pc players… it’s a pretty substantial. That being said, objectively tempo isn’t as critical on EA as it is on 2k for a successful result. The “feel” is much better on 2k imo and I would imagine if EA can improve on fps it will strongly help their cause in that area.

    Pros (as opposed to 2k23): Better graphics, much better commentary. I just love Lerner and Nobilo! Lots of real-life courses. Difficulty levels that can give a good golfer a challenge while not frustrating people like me.
    Cons: Glacial player progression. Pay-to-win system of "Pro Pass" that relies on paying them more $$$ for the best upgrades. Tournaments are a good idea but too easy for advanced players to ruin it. 2k is guilty of this too, but just for cosmetic stuff. No custom course designer. The thing about realistic tournament associations and the atmosphere of the big events, that really isn't important to me at all, since I don't follow golf as a sport.

    I bought EA PGA Tour early on. Not a fan. Downloaded PGA Tour 2k23 and I enjoy this game much more.
    I was a huge fan of Tiger Woods back in the day. EAs new game feels too slow. The store options are too limited. I actually find the gameplay harder and more frustrating even on the easiest setting. Pro golfer roster is also not as good (in my opinion).

    I am thinking of buying it because it is on sale until May 29 at a 40% discount. A friend of mine ordered the game pre-release and is disappointed in the game. He says you can only play multiplayer at Pro level with all aids turned on. He plays at Sim level. In addition there is no turn order in multiplayer so you will hardly see your playing partner. I haven't asked my friend yet but I am hoping you can play rounds without the galleries and commentary. In addition I assume basic options like turning off the comet trail are available. He did mention that update 3.0 improved the putting. He also says that the swing at the present time is too "mechanical" but I will be finding out shortly.

When around the green you should be able to use whatever club you want not just the wedges.

      Agreed. Both really lack quite a bit of customization. It’s shocking how limited you can customize your character in both games considering that who you are playing with 99 percent of the time, if not 100 percent of the time. Golf, as opposed to other spots is 100 percent focused on the individual so character customization seems that much more important. Curious to see which one will implement something in depth first

    Great summary. For me personally, what bothers me the most are the short game swing mechanics. The fact that the posture, stance, club face rotation etc does not change for a chip shot, flop shot, bunker shot etc from the regular swing is a huge draw back. Less important, but hopefully they fix are glitches with music, stars in challenges and some of the commentary. Also the over exaggerated celebrations are weird. The player celebrate a normal drive into the fairway as if they just made the winning put at a major. Otherwise, I love this game and really looking forward to the improvements and additional courses.

      All very good points and as for the short game. I find the animations/stances super bothersome too with how unrealistic it is. all things things that can and hopefully will be improved

      @@Kilbride10 do you think they would bring out an improvement to swing mechanics for this game? I have no idea how games are developed but I imagine it might be to big of a change to ask for

      @@steviewonder2492 I would think that visual updates are much more likely and practical than overhauling the mechanics. Both are definitely possible. Based on the multi year game cycle I am optimistic that they have dedicated development hours on improving the current game. 🤞

    The winner is EA Sports Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2009. The rest are just inferior.

    i find EA too much canned somehow, too much hollywood stuff too. to me it seems more aimed at the casual golfer.
    still good to have these courses in great graphics. but having played them all several times....uh uh back to 2k23, i have a backlog of
    several 100 !! yet to be played courses.

      Yes. That is 2ks biggest strength for sure. On top of that in recent months they appear to be adding more and more assets for their designer mode which in turn should only help increase the interest and creativity of designers. EAs biggest strength is having those official course licenses which will grab the attention of the casual player as they are likely unaware of the replicas in 2k

      @@Kilbride10 yup - waiting for all that 60fps - replays and stats. I do have to say that it visually looks stunning. But as far as gameplay for me? 2K 23 is still where it’s at. The multiple camera angles. The massive amount of stats and world stats. The endless amount of fantasy courses. The replayability is not even comparable. But that’s just me. Also when I get on my T-shot on 2K 23 I get nervous. For me it’s a big challenge on master mode which I love. But ETA? I must hit 98% of the fairways with my eyes closed on the hardest difficulty

      @@Kilbride10 Also I wanted to ask you. I played about eight hours of the 10 hour demo and I put it down. Waiting to see if the 60 frames per second and all the other things they add will help with my last two hours before making a decision. My question is this. On 2K 23 your second shot and the way it is on the terrain on a slight angle or a hill definitely makes a difference in the outcome of the shot. Do you find that it makes a huge difference in EA sports? Because I just can’t tell man

    • @Kilbride10
      @Kilbride10  Год назад +1

      @@midisong no it is drastically different. In 2k your lie alters the outcome of the shot significantly, and in my opinion, is a much more Accurate depiction of how a real life shot will play. In EA, any sidehill, uphill or downhill lie seems virtually nonexistent.
