I had a great dad growing. He taught me about dressing up. How to tuck a shirt, how to button it correctly, how to do a belt right etc He passed away when I was 25 and we never got the chance to dress up together while I was an adult. Fast forward 6 years later and here I am, getting coached by a legend in the game! Thanks for all you do Antonio. You've filled many voids my dad left, and for that Sir I am forever grateful! God bless you and your family!
Yep, I had my Grandfather, he was moreso into tailored suits, he would pick people by off rhe rack and tailored or custom, he would tell me a tailored suit can compete against a custom, but off the rack without a fitting is noticeable instantly were his words of advice...
My father did have the chance to teach me how to press my pants properly. I'll never forget what he taught me at 14, now I am 50. He's gone, but I can still hear his voice when I remember that my shin only gets one break in the crease.
Love the videos, been a fan for a long time. In the UK we call it "off the peg" for an off the rack buy and a "tailored suit" is one custom or made to measure. I am a big fan of suits and love my collection, I've always worn suits since starting my working career (20+ years now) I work in London City Square mile. Trust me fit is the most important thing. I could only afford 100 pound suits when I joined the workforce however the guys around me in 5k suits thought mine was tailored and expensive because mine fit perfect. I would spend 4 hours finding the perfect fit then adding accessories to accentuate the style and look. RMRS is amazing and your videos are so good. Thanks again.
@Real Men Real Style These vids, especially these longer ones, are supremely informative and inspiring. Can’t thank you enough for diligently and intelligently crafting them, and allowing many of us to nerd out over suits 👍👏
I'm a barber who wears a suit and tie to work daily as does the other barbers in my shop. I had a customer tell me the other day that he can never wear a suit because it gives him anxiety. Now I've heard it all.
Full black suit is always on point and highly recommended, especially if you live in a cold place. Sets you apart and shows a much darker and serious tone.
Antonio, the trick with off the rack is to get as close as you can in fit, then have it tailored. Don't go by color or brand, just find the best fitting item. It''ll give you more choices.
I've recently joined the Real Men Real Style Community online, and happy to report that I feel more confident about myself - instead of just dressing like a schlump, I am making the conscious decision to learn a thing or two before I invest any more money in clothes - and this community, and this channel - these are my pathway to success. Tonight I wanted to learn more about suits, because frankly my sizes have changed over the years, and all I've ever owned before were low-end rack suits that were bought without observing the "Fit Is King" rule of thumb.
I used to wear only french cuffs with gold or silver cufflinks, I love the turned back cuff. As life went on, I really got tired of the cufflinks clanking on desks, bartops, counters, etc. I took the jump and started ordering made to measure shirts with opera/cocktail cuffs, like in the old 007 movies. Most people don't even know what they are, lol, but I'm so much happier not having to deal with cufflinks and still having the turnback at the sleeve, particularly when my jacket is off...so much lighter. If you do this, make sure you give the shirtmaker accurately measured wrist circumference.
Thank you for getting this out. I'm just starting my suit journey at 37. These videos are helping guide me to my trail. I am very thankful you do this. Thank you, and keep stitched!
Love your work and content! I ride a motorcycle to commute almost daily. And being in a tropical country, it's pretty hot and wet here. While I wear full gear when riding, I often find myself dressed in quick drying fabric clothes that are usually used for sports or gym settings. If I were to dress up, what would be suitable? A shirt with tie, and probably a vest under the safety jacket? I'm not keen on giving up the safety jacket.
My best suit is custom made to measure online in donegal tweed. You can absolutely seek out great materials from reputable vendors. Nothing off the rack truly fits me even when tailored. Sure bespoke or true custom beats all, but m2m online has come a long way
The first suit that I ever bought was online. I got lucky, the fit was flawless!... However the material was not. I looked like I was wearing a shiny Halloween costume.
My favorite suit was purchased online from John Henric whom RMRS sponsored at one point. Great quality. The fit was really close upon arrival. Only needed a few minor adjustments.
Great remake and always excellent advice. I think in today's world a dark brown, especially with a birdseye weave, is perfectly acceptable in a business/city environment, it is down to the cut. My goto is exactly that a button-one dark brown birdseye.
#1 advice, if you live within any realistic distance of NYC, find when your favorite designer is doing their sample sale, go on day 3 or 4. You'll be able to get killer suits that are usually $3000, for under $750 each.
If you’re looking for a custom suit at a really great price, Indochino is where it’s at. I got my suit there. I had to get remeasured due to the first person not properly fitting me the first time, but I think when it comes back, my suit will look great.
I never buy clothes online, i only buy off rack in a clothes store. Where i live there is no tailors who can do a suit. But we have largest store in Sweden. I bought my suit about 20 years ago, i use it maybe once every second year. I am a hardhat and steeltoes guy.
Can you do a video on the different types of tie knots? Mainly, the tie knot Bill Skarsgard's character, The Gran Marquis, was wearing frequently in John Wick 4. That is a very nice knot. I want to learn how to tie that knot.
I realize everyone can’t afford bespoke, which is why you should go with custom. When you have the paints made they should have side adjusters or bottoms for spenders and a fishtail back. A well dressed gentleman does not wear a belt with a suit, which destroys the line of a suit. This is specially true for a three piece suit. If you a having a black formal suit made it should have either peak lapels or shawl lapels. No notched lapels. It should also have no flaps on the pockets, a single button and no vent. While it not necessary I love no back pockets, which creates a smother line for the pants.
I decided to go custom with suitsuppy because I am heavy built and off the rack doesnt work for me. its not an easy process mainly because I dont feel that they know how to make it fit properly for my body type. hopefully it will work out
I’ve been seeing a lot of suits with patch pockets lately. I didn’t even know that was a thing. I understand it’s a bit more casual, but is it still ok 9-5?

What do we have to say about that? I keep a beard, but as I age that is going whiter. It is roughly 18" long right now. Can we do an off-hand video about us guys who like to keep their hair on our faces that doesn't belong on our heads anymore?
Loving the content as always Antonio. But something odd i noticed, at 37mins 40 seconds your pocket square looks to be photoshopped. It has a thick dark black border and doesnt look real. I know its such a small detail but i have watched this section of the video over and over to try and work it out. Could anyone clarify? Haha, thanks in advance.
Looks like the video’s color saturation is set different than it is in the other sections. Plus his lapel is tucked behind the white pocket square, so it’s standing out.
I am really suprised about this statement, that just a few companys do blue suits. I live in europe but german companys like Hugo Boss should sell these blue suits also in the US or doesnt they?
Bespoke isn't too much money in China. When I lived there I got bespoke suits made for $80. I was able to pick out every fabric, lining, cut, fit, but it took a little while. That being said, if you want bespoke suits, you can get them cheaper by flying to China and getting them. Even in Thailand, which is much easier to do because they cater to tourists and speak English, I got made to measure suits for just over $200 that took just under a week. Too bad none of them fit me anymore. Ah ageing.
Whenever I see these type of videos, guys with a belly are addressed more than those with a well developed chest, shoulders, upper back, an athletic butt and thighs and a tapered waist. If you are seeing the results you desire from your fight and conditioning training, you are going to be a bit of a challenge for a tailor with an off the rack suit.
I had to check the release date on this when you are saying Obama got grief for his tan suit "recently," and then you talk about the Russian President and Putin. For a moment, I thought it was 2014 again 😂
When I dress up, I only wear 3 piece and have gotten lots of complements. It also looks better if you remove the jacket inside or if the weather heats up, you still are looking dapper in the vest. I think men should give it a try!

he's right, when I went in to get my custom suit, I knew exactly what I wanted, which fabrics and which style, it was very easy for the tailor
Gents... I am a member of Antonio's style community and it is awesome! It tells you that you are not alone in the style world LOL

The editor going crazy on this

Lmao that is indeed crazy. It’s like when people assume that formal clothing and shoes is by default uncomfortable.
Well...they are buying off the rack and the damned things don't fit. I look horrible when I buy those.
That's actually pretty common
What a wealth of information! I almost feel guilty watching for free. Thanks Antonio!
It was cool to see a younger version of Antonio describing the best suit's color in the video. A blast from the past.
I listen to my master, while painting cars 🚘 👨🎨

This video is being excellent! Love it! Thank you for sharing. Now…I just need a social life where I actually need a suit…
This is an outstanding video. Very informative for those of us who don’t wear suits. Semper Fi

Never buy a suit on-line. It's only until you try it on and feel the quality of the material will you know it's decent.

Great video, always happy to learn from you on how to look presentable.
Very informative video. Thank you, I learned a lot 🙏
This proves one thing. If you want a good suit you got to go to Mount Pilot
This is the best one stop video! Do you have one for shoes?
Antonio, which men's store do you show in your videos all the time? is it in Madison, Green Bay, or Milwaukee?

Do you guys think it's important to have light and dark colored suits (I have black, charcoal grey, nay blue.....but no light colored suit)?
You should get some light colored ones for the summer/spring so you won't be soo hot wearing darker fabrics in the hotter days.
@@Eayala17 Love this advice! My profile pic on here is really me - I feel light colors work with my skin better
Yikes! Tony, Tony....at 10.38 what were you thinking?! Olive green jacket with a purple tie and blue on white striped shirt? No, no ,no ! Bad boy!
I’ve been seeing a lot of suits with patch pockets lately. I didn’t even know that was a thing. I understand it’s a bit more casual, but is it still ok 9-5?
Great video, thank you. From New Zealand.
The definitive suit movie 😂
Great video, very detailed.
Does anyone buy their suits or blazers from Hackett London? I’ve made a few purchases on really nice blazers there in London.
I need to ask about the grooming. Some of us (read: me) do not care for the thinning as we age. I'm personally not getting plugs because they're just ugly as sin. So I shave my head.
One at a time, very well said.
So much good info
I am really suprised about this statement, that just a few companys do blue suits. I live in europe but german companys like Hugo Boss should sell these blue suits also in the US or doesnt they?
Is wool an appropriate choice for someone in a hot country?
Most suits have a lining on the inside. You can ask for a shorter/no lining and that'll make it a bit cooler
Much appreciated.
Dit gaat ook in de toekomst veranderen per klimaatontwerp

That being said, if you want bespoke suits, you can get them cheaper by flying to China and getting them. I want a suit that'll make The Nature Boy yell "Woooo!"
Or a suit that'll make Frank Sinatra look like a hobo!
Need lots of sparkles for that! "Wooo!"
Off the rack is out of the question for me. I have super long back and short legs. All jackets are way too short for me.

fortunately I haven't needed to wear a suit during this "one size smaller" era. The stressed front button and tight shoulders makes zero sense to me.

Suits are really overrated and it's time for them to go. At least they slowly got mostly phased out of the business world and for good reason
What was the reason? It couldn’t have been good. Polo shirts, chinos, and sneakers are an improvement? No.
