- With the incredibly poor trout stockings taking place in Virginia, I decided to hit the creek bank in hopes of finding fish TWO weeks after stocking. Upon arrival, I quickly realized I had the creek to myself and the first hole I pulled up to was LOADED with trout! While it was loaded, the trout were very small and very difficult to catch. Location: Stocked Stream in Virginia
Here in NJ i have a section of the river (1 1/2 mile) that is a trout conservation area that is artificial lures only and the bushes along the river looks like xmas trees with all the powerbait balls
That’s sad… sportsmen ruin opportunities for other sportsmen. And then wonder why we are losing hunting/fishing privileges. Do you personally own this section?
I guess I should say, do you own the land surrounding this section of river?
@@CatchingLimits it is open to the public.It starts at a roadway and goes upstream for a mile and a half and is posted T.C.A which has a 2 fish 15 in limit then after that your allowed 5 fish 9in limit but it's like you said sad because they can respect the the area
@@gregchilders7643 ah gotcha. It’s awesome that y’all have places like that in PA. Hopefully fishermen don’t ruin a place like that for you! If there were more game wardens, there would be better control/enforcement of laws…
@@CatchingLimits it's NJ .Unfortunately the wardens are very few but they do respond to complaints cause one time there was a angler who was camping out over a log and was catching stock trout .he limited out but wouldn't move and was hooking the fish deep and just letting them go and I was downstream watching trout come by belly up .I mentioned to him that he should move on and let other people fish there and he said I can fish here as long as I want .I called warden and he came the next stocking date and witnessed the guy doing the same thing and fined him for waton waste of fish

Im surprised they let people fish right after stocking like that.
I wish it would change. Here in Va, you can follow the stocking truck and start fishing as soon as the fish hit the water. With my work schedule, that isn’t possible for me. I’ve petitioned to not let people fish the day of stocking but we shall see what becomes of that! Thanks for watching!
@@CatchingLimits I gotcha. I assumed it was different than PA regulations. In PA the fish get a month or 2 to distribute, which is good for people who like to get out and fish away from the crowds. Cheers.
@@rizzoblam I wish it was like that here. We are struggling with fish numbers. Supposedly had a large fish euthanization (40k fish) d/t whirling disease. DWR is stocking fewer fish and has been very lazy on stocking. They will be stocking 15 creeks per day for the next 3 months to meet the yearly quota. But I doubt that’ll happen. Trout fishing has become pathetic here

After 2 weeks, I imagine they were pretty hungry! But they didn’t seem too hungry for what I had. I imagine I could’ve done better if had used flies or other smaller, natural presentations

I will keep a couple now and then. But only the larger ones that I can fillet easily. The smaller ones are too much hassle and not enough meat. But for the most part, I just enjoy C&R
