What's with all the Marty Music hate!?! Both of these guys have done way more for the music/guitarist community than they needed to. We should all be very appreciative for them to take the time to share their talents in order to spread knowledge to those willing to try. They both have the view that songs can be played multiple ways and play the way you feel most comfortable. Thank you both for doing what you do best. Collab soon?
I don’t hate on Marty. But I certainly like learning from this channel more. Marty is a little lazy when it comes to teaching the best/hardest parts of the song.
Lol people will argue about anything. Carl and Marty are both great, approachable teachers. Why can't that be the case? Jesus, y'all. Not everything has to be some pointless, infantile competition. Just be thankful that we live in the golden age of affordable guitars and easily accessible (must importantly, FREE) guitar lessons. Be happy! You could be stuck with 1980s affordable "guitars" and being forced to pay for these kinds of lessons. It's a great time to be a guitar player! EDIT: I'd also like to thank Carl for doing this. He doesn't need to give these lessons for free, but he takes the time to do it anyways. Thank you, Carl!
There's a few ways to play this song during the verses...great lesson btw...and for those below..calling Marty nothin more than a guitar teacher for beginners...that is very laughable to say the least. Marty, is a blues beast and one of the best teachers I've run across. Love the lessons Carl, you are top notch ! I like to slide into the E and the A....this song is about attitude...so vibrato and a few slides..up or down..make a huge difference.
@@carlbullaro7616 they are different guitarist. I've learned a ton from both. Marty is the 1st teacher I learned from. He is by nature a blues guitarist. He breaks down lessons and finger positioning in great detail. I love them both.
Thank you so much. I know this video is like a year and a half old but I've been dying to play this song. Thanks to people like you and MartyMusic, I've been able to learn guitar without needing a private teacher, and can now play one of my favorite songs. Once again, thank you.
You play as clear as you explain. Helps a lot the fact that I have to watch every step at least 3 times to fully get it! Thank you a lot. I'll be watching more tutorials.
All of these gentlemen have mountains to share and along with this LW cover Marty’s sit down with Eddie King really opened up my ear world and at the age of 69 I make no comparison I appreciate…..the guitar forever gives and with that I wish you all a good day….ms~~~
you explain things like a very intelligent and educated individual. You speak to beginner and savant alike with clear and easily understood explanations. I do not see how anyone could do this any better. I can only thank you. so... rock on with your bad self and as soon as I can I'll buy a t-shirt to send you some support. oh rah
this was one of the first songs I learned all the way through years ago. great song to learn if your a beginner because its relatively easy with some practice but feels really good to play. Although nailing the little nuances in the bends and vibratos is what will really make it sound perfect.
Just wanted to say thanks, for posting all the great lessons, Carl. Yours are top shelf, really the best and clearest. I’ve learned a lot from you. Thank you, sir.
nice video carl! I wanted to make a request. ive havent had any luck finding anything on the ghost song by the doors. if you could make a tutorial on that song that would be great! thanks in advance! cheers
You’ve taught me so much, thank you. My favorite thing you’ve taught me is the Them Bones solo. I do have a question, in this lesson I’m confused by your use of the phrase 1 chord to the 4 chord to the 1 chord to the 5 chord. What do these numbers correspond to. I feel like it must be a simple answer, I just can’t figure it out. Thanks in advance!!
Grate lesson Carl. Can I recommend 'here with out you' by three doors down, if you can that will be really appreciated, If not then anything by three doors down, thanks.
Here is a link from the man himself Lelie West not long before he passed telling the story of Mississippi Queen and showing you how he played it, well at least one of the variations. RIP to a legend ruclips.net/video/oFccZfkMixE/видео.html&ab_channel=FRET12
Never In My Life rocks! Hendrix walked in when they were recording that at Electric Ladyland and was like "who the fuck is that?" Paraphrasing of course.
it would be wayWAYYYY BETTERR IF U HAD THE TABS BELOW U TO SHOW THE NOTES AND THE ACUTALLY what your playing then trying to look at what your playing so i can also listen to u , see the tabs and also see how your playing it if i have finger placement wrong or whatever im doing wrong... WOULD HELP ALOT!! just putting that out there
At 6:10 are you sure that's right? My ears hear instead open E, 7th on the A, 7th on the E, 5th on the A, 7th on the A. Same pattern around 7:11 and 8:25. 8:25 looks/sounds right.
Marty and Carl have single handedly taught an entire generation of guitarists!
So true
That's scary.
They a share a hand?
Actually you need both hands to play the guitar...

Leslie is playing with the best of them tonight. RIP 💐❤️🎸❤️💐

Steel Forged dude same
Same here

Leandro Ignacio same
Very few instructors take the trouble to provide tablature but if they did, you wouldn't need to watch it three times.
Rest In Peace to the big man himself Leslie West. Pioneer of heavy metal, his music will live on forever.🤘🏻🙏🏻❤️
Carl gets a spot on my top 10 greatest guitar players of all time just for his teachings
All of these gentlemen have mountains to share and along with this LW cover Marty’s sit down with Eddie King really opened up my ear world and at the age of 69 I make no comparison I appreciate…..the guitar forever gives and with that I wish you all a good day….ms~~~
Eh. Carl just has begginers luck Luck luck luck luck....
Came here for the regular show references
@Steve Mason mald.
The song itself is simple as far as guitar playing goes but gosh damn what a cool/tuff sounding song!!
I agree I was having that same conversation talking about how much distortion for this song being at Woodstock it is heavy and I love it
Carl is a awesome player and teacher. Don't forget about guitar pilgrim. Another awesome player.

My favorite song to play, Carl does it right
this song is a lot of fun to play!
Fairly amazing to learn that some of the heaviest riffs recorded up to that time were recorded tuned slightly .... sharp!?!?
This kicks!!! Thanks for posting this Lesson/Great and Essential song, Carl!! Your playing and tone is awesome!! Going to learn this next.

thank you much
Great lesson - thanks! But just a little bit sharp? The original recording is a tad sharper than halfway between E and F.
Mississippi queen
I like this channel, I do wish he would mention the names of scales as he plays them, if we know our scales a lil bit, it helps.
E Minor pentatonic with some blue notes, mostly.
Thanks for this awesome tip to my favorite R&B/Rock whatever
I started learning with Carl and only carl
Maybe sometime you could elaborate on the effects used...thxxxx
Grate lesson Carl. Can I recommend 'here with out you' by three doors down, if you can that will be really appreciated, If not then anything by three doors down, thanks.

Axe FX
That is called beginner's luck-luck-luck-luck
Great lesson, what effects are you using to get the tone you do?
RIP

Will you be doing the second part to this tutorial still?
Thanks! How'd you get the sound?
GUITAR HERO 3😍
Carl would you consider this song basic blues?
Well done, thanks. I teach privately here in NYC. How did you do the 3 camera angle thing? It looks great.
Martin John Butler it depends on what editing program you use, if you want everything as clear as he has it then you'll need 3 cameras
3 camaras is the answer
you should really do "beside the sea"
Awesome!!! But can you play Wonderwall
I wish carl would do Maggot Brain
Can you do a lesson on his best song. NEVER IN MY LIFE Please!!!!!
Never In My Life rocks! Hendrix walked in when they were recording that at Electric Ladyland and was like "who the fuck is that?" Paraphrasing of course.
And the last guitar solo? :)
You should do another eagles song
it would be wayWAYYYY BETTERR IF U HAD THE TABS BELOW U TO SHOW THE NOTES AND THE ACUTALLY what your playing then trying to look at what your playing so i can also listen to u , see the tabs and also see how your playing it if i have finger placement wrong or whatever im doing wrong... TABS are not legal to use in YT videos
standard tuning does not work playing along the yt song, any sugestions?

No one man should have all that power
Hey carl you should have have a brown sugar tutorail
what is your acord (hain-bass-treble-middle)
Dime one knows what tempo is it?
thx. i wish you would show the strumming pattern for the power chord shift....i am having a hard time doing it fast...i think its D shift then UDDD??
Click on the gear icon in RUclips. You can then slow it to 1/2 speed if you want to. It helps decipher licks.
Never realised you could do this!,, the guy sounds a little drunk when he talks at half speed though!
Thanks TK I didn't know that either, its a big help.
its all downstrokes
4:43
2:28
What pedals are you using?
What drive are you using?
What key is it in
5:39
Standard tuning?
Remember this song from regular show lmfao

What key is this song in ? Sorry but I'm still a begginer. Just want to make sure if I'm right. Is it in E ?
Yes it is in E. Lol. You're not a beginner anymore
No entiendo que dise pero le sigo los pasos
I’m here because of Regular Show 🥹
At 6:10 are you sure that's right? My ears hear instead open E, 7th on the A, 7th on the E, 5th on the A, 7th on the A. Same pattern around 7:11 and 8:25. 8:25 looks/sounds right.
What guitar do you use?
Fender Strat
+Joseph Freeman this guitar is a fender stratocaster
Fckin god
Ill say it. Marty is afraid of getting canceled and he sold out... Carl didn't.
That Fender fuckin' rips.
Be nice if you said what key the leads in right off the bat, just saying.
