Mama set her hair in pin curls every other night for decades. ❤ She also used Dippitty-Doo setting gel. Don't know what the difference is, but that stuff was completely different than today's hair gels/super glue! Great, easy way to add variety to shorter cuts! 👍
I used to pin curl my hair a lot when it was long, but I recently had it cut to be about chin length, and I can’t wait to try pin curling again! Great tutorial :)
The music! The little noises! The curling faces!! I don’t know how you do any of this. I can’t even FIND the back of my head. Fabulous result. I, frankly, didn’t once see “poodle hair”.
You look gorgeous! Thank you for sharing this. I'll definitely try it although it would definitely be a little more complicated since I have very thick and unruly hair, lol. Hope you'll release more vintage styling tips. Thanks and stay safe. Much love from the PH. x
thank you for this! styling my hair seems so daunting since I've had a shaved head for four years, and I love the vintage styles, but you explained this so well and made it seem so achievable! can't wait to try it out!!
Thank you so much for the tutorial!! It was super helpful to see the technique and result on similar length and texture hair to mine :D I cant wait to try it!
Poodle hair looked great ❤ but I think anything would look great with a face like yours xx thanks for the demo ill give it a go.... need to buy pins 🤣 tonnes of time in lockdown 3...
hello, thank you for this video! i have some questions: 1. is it important to use a hairbrush? the only one i have is a comb :c 2. are there any alternatives for the setting spray that you used before starting? preferrably maybe one that i can do at home with simple ingredients or something 3. what's the minimum amount of time (in hrs) i need to be able to get good curls? thank you again for this video, it's really helpful and i think you looked cute! :D
Hi! Answering your questions 1 - yes, a hairbrush will be soft on your hair while allowing to shape it, a comb wouldn’t work. 2 - you can use just water but depending on your hair it might not hold as long. You can also use hairspray after You’re done curling 3 - it needs to dry out completely so that will depend on how fast your hair dries. Someone with thicker/more hair would need more time.you can use a diffuser or a hair dryer to minimize the wait (with your haired covered with a scarf) Hope it helps!
@@theknityorker thank you very much for answering! :D i tried this once before but i think i didn't wait long enough because when i took it out the curls didn't form :( i will definitely try it again though! and i bought a hair brush so i hope it works this time~
You can make a flax seed gel by boiling flax seeds for a few minutes the straining. This is what ladies did in the 1920s. The flax gel will kep o aout 2 weeks.
i just tried it and it took me 42 minutes, pray for my hair tomorrow morning 😭🙏 so the results... idk if im just completely unused to seeing myself like this, but it feels weird? definitely not perfect, but i think i kinda got it, i just dont feel like thats my vibe and im sad 💔
I was so happy to find this video! We have the exact hairtype and cut and your tutorial is for the style I want. The result is gorgeous, I want to try this. Does your hair keep curls easily or does it go back straight quickly, My hair doesn't keep curls for very long but I have never tried a setting lotion, did it make a noticeable difference for you?
My hair doesn’t keep curls very well ha! The only way I’ve managed to keep them is with pin curls. Just using water works, but the setting lotion definitely extends the curl’s life. Hope it helps!
After 4 hours of curling? That’s probably too little time, you might have to leave it overnight. Also the product you use matters, if I don’t use any mine goes flat too.
I am happy to find a video with someone with my exact hair from cut to density and texture. ❤️ To my fellow fine queens
Thank you! I felt the same way, great to hear it’s helping others 🙂
Bravo! Now do my hair.

Beautiful and classic
You look absolutely beautiful! I love that your haircut is so versatile! Cute bob and vavavoom retro hair ♡

Max you’re my best viewer 😂
I am so glad I found this. I love vintage style and I also cut my own hair 🤗

Hope it works out! I also had really short hair that grew out awkwardly and styling it like this helped. Best of luck!
@@theknityorker it worked so well! followed what you did to the best of my abilities and it looked great! thank you again
This looks so pretty on you!! Excited to try it out
Omg that looks easy!! I thought it would be more difficult, now I wanna try it

Beautiful results This was very useful Thank you.
I love this so much! I think I'll be cutting my hair like this soon! Thank you dear!

I don’t think I can do this but I’ll try. I miss my long hair but short is better when it’s 90 degrees outside lol
So pretty!
Loveeee this thanks for the easy to follow tutorial ❤
red lipstick looks awesome with that hairstyle! also, 8:06 that's how i wake up. never thought of doing anything about it tho 🤭.
Thank you! Lol honestly how I wake up the next day
@@theknityorker haha its a pain. when i wake up like that, i usually just change my hair part to the other side and tada, new look
idk if this is weird to say but i am so jealous of your hair 😍
You look like a movie star!!
So cute!!!
Looks so beautiful! Thx

So cute! Thank you for posting, you just convinced me to cut my hair and get to pin curling
Looks great
Beautiful.

My mother set her hair in pin curls all her life.
My hair is a similar length. Every time I try this, I can’t get all my curls uniform like yours were in the end. 😅
Keep brushing! It takes a while
Perfect, thank you
Great! Thank you
Can I use bobby pins instead of the clips shown in the video?
Yes! I used them too. But sometimes Bobby clips leave a crease so just be aware
@@theknityorker okay, thank you very much ❤️

My hair is naturally curly, do you think this will work?
Same, mine is naturally curly/wavy and I recently cut it it short, I wonder if it will work for me too.
I’m sorry, I wouldn’t know.
I brushed my hair after 4 hours and my hair went straight again.
After 4 hours of curling? That’s probably too little time, you might have to leave it overnight. Also the product you use matters, if I don’t use any mine goes flat too.
@@theknityorker okay. Does type of brush matter too?
I try using a soft brush, but what matters the most is that your hair is 100% dry when you start brushing!
@@theknityorker okay thank you I'll give this another shot
Very lovely ❤️
Aaand brushing is bout when my hair goes flat again 😰
That means the curls weren’t left love enough or didn’t have enough product.
@@theknityorker I’ll try the product you suggested. The stuff I have isn’t working for me, unfortunately 😅
God I look like kitty Forman.🙄Brushing only seems to make it more poofy lol. I had fun playing with it at least.
Pin curls are wound all the way around the finger and then shimmied down off the finger to the scalp.
Sad. I have extremely thick hair
Mine is also Very thick and I tried it- gave good lift on top but too curly for my shorter hair on the ends. So I'm trying out tonight just on top.
