You could use rollers if you want to maintain the stand up position. The result would produce more waves on the back if you do more than two rows of curlers. I’ll have to test with rollers. Standing curls could work is you can set on dry in the morning but yes sleeping would crush them.

You can do it with a curling iron just set in the same fashion with clips

You can have either your just don’t want the bangs longer ( like the asymmetrical style)
Is your hair slightly wet the entire process? Did you do any drying?
It’s slightly damp when rolling and dries over night 😉

Yes I definitely recommend using sone product to hold the curls. Even a mouse
