UPDATE: hearing lots of reports that Kia/Hyundai Supercharger access is no longer working. I am heading back out today to try it again. I will keep you posted with a new video!
Thanks for posting the video. Great to see you were able to get a charge. Like you mentioned, the charging rate wasn’t the best, but hey, in a pinch, it’s better than zero!
Your charge rates were great. I charged my 2020 3LR from 31 to 65% yesterday at a v3 and charge rates ran between 32 and 55 kW. Holding 97 as long as it did is nothing to feel bad about. I'm sure you're used to mind-blowing numbers at native CCS stations, but you have to factor in reliability and availability. I would take a guaranteed 97 all day.
I’m gonna test that out again this weekend… Completely forgot the car was sent to 80% and didn’t bump it up a little. I’ll let you know Jeff! By the way… We have some people commenting It’s not working for their Hyundai… Any suggestions?
I charged this morning and there was no need for an Ionic "fib". My car is clearly identified in the Tesla app as an EV6 and worked flawlessly at a level 4 putting out 96Kw. This beat my only other options of level 2 or DCFC at only 26
What model year did you specify for the Ioniq 5 in the Tesla app? 2025? 2024? Etc... i have a 2023 Ioniq 5 which did not work with the Lectron Vortex adapter.
@yepitsmememe Didn’t work for us with actual 2022 and 2024 Ioniq 5 EV’s today. Using the updated Tesla app & the Vortex adapter. Making me think these paid promo folks are fake news. Great way to sell the device, get views, yet not actually work. Only until Tesla gives official network access to Kia and Hyundai, this ain’t working at all.
Not all Tesla superchargers are open to Non-Tesla EVs. You can only use what is available in the Tesla app when you tell it you have a Hyundai EV. As seen in the video, we successfully charged our EV6 at the Conway, AR Tesla Supercharger, which is a regular V3 Supercharger. I don’t know what more proof we can provide…the video shows us charging, shows the receipt, etc.
Great insight. Do you know of any way to trick the Supercharger to charge my BMW iX? It will charge at a station with a MagicDock, what’s preventing my car to charge with an adapter? (The MagicDock is just a Tesla adapter, right?)
Nope not yet. Most likely just a software compatibility issue with Tesla charters right now. BMW will be getting access this year… Probably just wait for Tesla to flip the switch :-)
Because Kia hasn’t been “officially” released yet. There’s a workaround if you watch my video. I’m sure when it’s officially released for Kia, the adapters will work. The one I tested in the video worked fine. And it’s the exact same Lectron adapter in the link.
I actually did precondition by tricking it and putting in an nearby EA station. From what I’m seeing is, the charge rate is the same. It seems to peak right around 50 to 55% SOC.
Awesome. However, this did not work. I have the LECTRON adapter, I added the Ioniq 5, 2023, to my tesla app. I am positive I was at a V3 Supercharger. Should I tell it it's a 2022? My app is up to date. Anyone have any suggestions?
Yes!!!! 🙌 success at the Estero, Florida superchargers. Nice speed as well. The only difference I did was to changed my year to a 2022 ionic5 inside my Tesla app. I will try the other supercharger later this week to see if that makes a difference there as well. ⚡️⚓️
Well… looks like Tesla caught on and disabled the ability of using a "fake" ID. The good news is that Kia adapters are now being sent to dealers so the ability to Supercharge will likely be authorized soon.
34.4kWhs / 24.33 minutes = 1.41kWhs/minute....could you do a 10 - 80% fully preconditioned...I've been using this metric to gauge charging speed...Last Summer at an EA station I got 2.7kWhs per minute. 19 minutes of charging time, with no preconditioning done, or needed I believe.

@@greencargeek yes it it
I got a “Your vehicle is not able to charge at Superchargers at this time message” on my 22 EV6 today.
Did you change the vehicle to a Hyundai in the Tesla app??

Yeah, you're right - reliability is key!
Exciting! I wish you had gone a little above 80% to see if yours stopped charging at 82% or so like mine did.

@@theevgeekpodcast Yeah let me know. And I'm not sure. Some are commenting on mine it's not working for their Ioniq 5s too which is odd.
Nice informative video brother

2022. Same year as my EV6

The link to the charger part from Vortex is saying it is not compatible with the Kia..
Confused.. can you advise

So does this power go up because the battery wasn't pre-conditioned?

@ great news’s
Weird. I tried to charge my 23 Ioniq 5 at a Supercharger in Destin FL and I got Charging Canceled. It is a V3 station and I used an A2Z adapter.
Yeah, for some reason, we’re hearing a lot of reports that Hyundai’s are the ones having the issues

Yeah, we’re hoping they turn back on access once they get these adapter sent out.
Teslas are 400 volt architecture and not 800 volt.
Only the cyber truck is 800 volt

@@lakefiftyseven sure thing! My plan is to go out this Sunday to do a 10 to 80% fully preconditioned
@@theevgeekpodcast Thanks, looking forward to it.
you know they can read the VIN and identify the vehicle, Tesla could easily ban you for life from using their network for circumventing restrictions
SMH - they are whitelisting the KIA manufacturing ID, so all VINs with matching first three characters whitelisted can charge.
Thank you for this clarification
I’m sure I’m the farthest thing from Tesla’s mind… Considering I just paid them $15 to charge that Kia :)
I reported this. Because Hyundai and Kia are not open on Tesla yet. This is false information.
So are you saying I made up the video?
