What a magnificent castle! Glamis Castle is absolutely stunning, and the history is fascinating. Thanks for sharing this glimpse into such a beautiful place!
Hey am the stockman at glamis castle. Am gutted you didn’t get any of my lovey cattle in your video. Great video tho. I’ve shared it in the estate WhatsApp 👍
Wow! We filmed this the day they opened for the season. We didn’t see any cattle, but my daughter loves animals and would loved to have seen them. Any Highland Cattle? She bought one of the stuffed ones in the gift shop and sleeps with it every night! Thanks for sharing with the estate, I hope we did it justice.
Thank you for this wonderful glimpse into our family’s history. My husband’s grandmother was a Lyon; too her father and so on. We have a detailed book created by a family member, and in my research, our branch of the tree was a Jacobite that arrived in the US in the late 1700s Scotland is on our bucket list, definitely going to visit during a late summer
Thank you Sue for writing this comment...I too am a Lyon. My father grew up in Forfar and immigrated to Canada when he was 16 years old (1922). I grew up with stories of our family connection to Glamis. I would love to connect with you to share family history. Debra (Lyon) Fremmerlid I will try to connect with you on Facebook.
More! More! This is one of my favorite video tours of castles and palaces. It tells the story of a class, times, and a family. And tells it well. Thank you.
I did an ancestry DNA, and Patrick Lyon of Glamis Castle is my great grandmothers ancestors. I find this interesting as one of his relatives was an exiled Jacobite sent to a plantation in Virgina. Where my grandmother was born.
Wow! I love Glamis castle, it’s history and the people of Scotland. Just a side note~When I was there back in the late 90, we weren’t allowed to take any pictures or video. I’m glad that they are allowing it now!
Glamis Castle is our family seat. Our grandfather (Oupa), Jan Lyon, descends from a Lyon who went to Africa and started another branch of the Lyon family there.
Definitely. It is still privately owned, but like many of these old castles, I would imagine that they need to find revenue sources to upkeep the castle.
I think you only told and showed us all the lovely things about Glamis Castle as people do. There was a mention of the dark side. The story is about the Ogilvy's and the Lindsay's who apparently were always fighting with each other. Then one night the Ogilvy's were being hunted by the Lindsay's and they ran for cover in Glamis Castle .They knocked the door to be greeted by Lord Glamis who welcomed them in.He showed them to a room locked the door and left them to die.Skeletons were found.
Macbeth is my ancestor. He was ran to ground, alone,st Lumphanan where he was defeated and killed in 1057. The grass grows yellow where his blood was spilt. If you go there,it's on the left, down in the valley from the highway.
What's the tune on the pipes at rhe start ? So stirring ... Is it true Glamis had its own private hangman for my years ? Has the hidden chamber been located ?
Best tour of a Scottish castle I have ever watched. So informative ❤️👍🇮🇱
Wow, such a great compliment!! Thanks so much!

Us to! Hopefully my video can fill in for what you were unable to do.
We visited Glamis yesterday. We were told no photography!
Thank you!

Thank you.😊
You're welcome 😊
Rest in Peace Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother. ❤️❤️❤️
Esp Love the medieval section but yes, can imagine not wanting to get out of bed on cold, windy days. Let's hear it for central heating!
Here here on the heat!
It's crazy to think this is the same place where the Queen Mother grew up and now it has a gift Shoppe and Cafe.
Definitely. It is still privately owned, but like many of these old castles, I would imagine that they need to find revenue sources to upkeep the castle.
Yes it was the Queen mother's early home
@@PhotasmaI heard it’s owned by really really creepy globoHomos
Да, прелесть средневековых замков в том, что летом в них прохладно, а зимой холодно.
I’m a very very very distant relative of Sir John Lyon it’s so cool!
No way!

I just KNOW there has got to be secret passages!
For sure!
❤
Too think Elizabeth 1st, Queen of Scots, grew up here until 10yrs old. Along with her Mother, who also grew up in Scotland.
Interesting!
The dogs names! lol

Has the hidden chamber been located ?
I will check into the pipe song. I can’t remember. Not sure about the other questions.
Sure there is nothing left of it, not at cobweb. When did the castle dematerialize? 👿 👿 👿 👿👿 👿
Beautiful grounds!
I was there in 2008: very impressive place, indeed. But, I don't remember much, so it is great to re-visit with this wonderfully made video.
How were you able to take pictures/video inside the castle? Usually this is forbidden? (apologies if you already answered this)
They didn’t seem to have a problem with it.
Is it related to the novel Macbeth?
Yes!
Is Craig still tour guide at Glamis?
I would have no idea. May be worth contacting them to find out.
The BBC filmed, The little minister and As you like it there in the late 1970s.
Hey did you make it to the top floor with your Probate Files?
Do you need to pay to walk about the grounds, or can you just drive in and have a walk? thanks.
You don’t have to pay to walk the grounds, just visit the castle from what I recall.
Would be nice if U Tube didn't cut the video off short !😢
Strange, not sure why it would do that.
Castle's a wee bit haunted though.
I wish I would have seen a ghost!
Очень бедно, но чистенько. Бесчисленные рога животных не компенсируют отсутствие дорогих отделочных материалов.
Is this where the lady Somerset Belennoff lives ? Head of World Governing Council?
No idea who or what that is. It wasn’t something I saw on the tour.
No. There is no such person. Fiction or conspiracy theory.
See President Obama
Im sorrt but end the monarchy end the unequal British union .
Glamis castle is dirty disgusting covering. You can cover for today but we all know what this castle was used for.
