  • Here's what I did for 48 hours solo in San Francisco. Having never spent more than a layover in San Fran, I was excited to tick off all of the classic things in this iconic city. I took a (noisy) stroll across the picturesque Golden Gate Bridge, eat one of San Frans most famous dishes, visited The Painted Ladies, and bump into some very unexpected sea life.... Join me as I spend two days exploring this amazing city all by myself!

Here’s some history that you may not know about the seals. Their was not any seals at pier 39 until we had our big earthquake in 1989. They use to be at what was called our Cliff House area out at our ocean beach. The marine biologist don’t have any explanation is to why they left & came to pier 39.

The best way to catch the cable car is to walk up to one of the streets that it passes and hop on there. Also, rent a bike(near Pier 39) and ride the waterfront and cross the Golden Gate Bridge and glide down the hill into Sausalito for lunch and browse the shops (Listen to Otis Redding's Sittin' on the Dock of Bay, he wrote it here on a houseboat). Then catch a ferry boat back to SF fisherman's wharf waterfront. Lovely day in the city by the bay.

Thanks for sharing your amazing experience of your tour of San Francisco with us. I love your video and your presentation. By the way, did you see the Ghirardelli square with all the stores and shopping Malls? Its not far from Pear 39.😊 I have a plan to visit San Francisco again before the end of this year. ❤

    I’m here for Chloe.
Sausaltio is down the hill from the lookout on the Marin side of the bridge, would have taken you another 20-30min to make it to downtown depending on how fast you’re walking. Tourists normally take the ferry back to SF from downtown Sausalito, very nice 25min ferry ride drops you at the ferry building. I live in old town Sausalito and can confirm it’s beautiful.

Nice video! You covered quite a bit in two days.
Some things to see on your next trip: Chinatown, the Mission District, Alcatraz, Golden Gate Park, North Beach (the Italian district), Muir Woods, The Palace of Fine Arts, Musée Mécanique (a museum full of antique arcade games), Coit Tower, The Castro District, The Filbert Steps, Coit Tower, City Lights Bookstore, museums (the De Young, the Palace of the Legion of Honor, the Asian Art Museum, the Museum of Modern Art, The Exploratorium, the Walt Disney Family Museum, and many more). If you have time, you can take a side-trip or two to wine country, not too far north of San Francisco. And, of course, Sausalito.
BTW, the best Chinese restaurants in San Francisco aren't in Chinatown. They're in the Richmond District, on the north side of the city.

To get to Sausalito would be to take the ferry over. I do every time I am in "The City". We call it that here in Sacramento, CA just 90 miles away. Always a nice day away. Love Pier 39 and the seals. FYI - there used to be actual sail boats moored on that pier but one summer the seals took it over landing by landing and now they have it year 'round. They come and go as they please. Another FYI - that fort that the Golden Gate straddles is from the Civil War era and was used to protect the city for many years. It's worth a couple of hours to walk around. Ghiradelli Square is within walking distance from Pier 39 and full of shops as well. The America's Cup sailing race has been held in SF a few times so the waterfront in general is all built up from hosting that race. I used to live just north of SF in San Rafael and loved it. Also another item for that bucket list is to got to the Golden Gate Park. Lots to see there as well. An Arboretum, Gardens, Zoo, etc. So glad you liked it there.

Tourist is SF: “I want to walk across the Golden Gate Bride:
Local in SF: “I hate walking across the bridge, you’ll never get me up there”
    😂
Oh and also, technically Lombard is not even the crookedest street in San Francisco, that would be Vermont Street, it gets no tourist though.

      San Francisco's Crime Rate
First of all, how dangerous in San Francisco? Looking at crime rates can help answer that.
      Important aspects of SF crime:
Violent crimes are concentrated in limited areas, mostly not near the tourist areas.
Crimes most likely to affect tourists are the car break-ins (somewhat preventable).
San Francisco is not particularly dangerous when compared with other cities, especially U.S ones.
Of course, being a city, San Francisco's crime rate is going to be worse than what you'll find in suburban or rural areas, but it's sort of low to intermediate when compared with other U.S. cities.
And the crime rate in San Francisco varies tremendously by neighborhood, as you would also expect.
