This Update Was What Habitats NEEDED! | Stellaris FULL Campaign | Void Dweller Playthrough

- I've always loved habitat runs in Stellaris but I've loved them more in theory and theme of the empire type more than the actual gameplay, but now in 3.9 they have been MASSIVELY overhauled and have finally got to the point where I can truly say I enjoy the gameplay of habitat spam in every system!
This run was recorded whilst I was still suffering from the super fun flu-like illness after my short vacation to Germany and after an extended break from Stellaris so I'm sure I can do FAR better with this run in the future!
Let me know your opinions on the new patch and other things I should cover from It now It Is fully released! So happy to be back into Stellaris once more!

I've had a few people tell me the video is not available to them in the full 1080p yet, I have no indication of this on my end but It seems like RUclips's processing Is taking longer than expected for some device types and ISN'T telling me.. Great. Come back later If this is an issue for you and I'm sure It will be fixed as this has happened before! Sorry about this for anyone effected. :(
It seems to be fine now.
for mobile it wont load for me. pc is fine
1080p on mobile now no worries😊😊
Yeah I'm getting proper 1080p60 on PC, and others are saying they're getting it on mobile too so I'll just take them at their word!
1080p and 720p available on tablet, works splendidly!
Stellaris is a series I wish to see continued in the future.
yes yes yes yes yes yes yes
+
Then check out his other series
Who doesn't
They are pretty great.
Since Hiveminds can now take Void Dwellers you can do a Terravore Habitat build where you eat literally every single planet in the galaxy
that's a very interesting thing to try for sure, thanks for the idea!
@TheRewasder97 I heard someone tried a terravore necrophage build if you wanted to consume everything and everyONE
Habitats used to be more powerful than planets in the older version of the game, they've desperately needed a buff to make tall builds viable for quite a while now
I feel starved when you dont upload for awhile. I search RUclips probably once every other day for anyone who produces Stellaris content has high-quality, personal, and in depth as your videos. Thank you so much for this content, even though the algorithm hates it.
He doesn't play Stellaris, but if you want ultra-quality content I highly recommend Kruggsmash and his Dwarf Fortress videos.
I pretty much am stuck with montu, lathland, and i use tachyonlances videos for fleet builds etc. strat has some good stuff around. But over all i dont know anyone else
honestly lathrix is so great for being such a nerdy channel with so much charm. I've been introduced to a lot of games through his videos and i love it.
Aspec is great!
I really like how habitats work now, it is a bit of a shame that their base habitability is so low though, so unless your void dwellers they aren't too viable until you have some solid habitability bonuses going on.
Another reason to go Cyborg
Isn't that kind of the point? To discourage habitat spam from rock-hugger empires?
@@synthetic240 The hugging rock empires seem to handle it well with their +50% habitability.
You've hit the nail on the head, habitats *do* just feel a lot like regular planets now. Very expensive planets.
I just wish I could choose the type of orbitals I want to build instead of being confined to system resources, it'd bring some artificiality to habitats again.
This is really true. When it comes to "artificial" habitable things in Stellaris they've always had the characteristic of having unlocked/custom districts. Be it Habitats, Machine worlds, Hive worlds, ringworlds, etc. I LOVE the concept of new habitats, but not sure I like being confined to randomized districts based on deposits just like planets are with planetary features.
Habitats have problem with consumer and food energy and minerals are fine and the alloy output are bigger then the planet outputs
Stellaris is indeed a series what we wish to continue!
Awesome, I've had mixed feelings about the habitat changes. It's nice to see a good demonstration of them in use.
I hope you know lath that you sticking to what you enjoy and not shilling to whatever RUclips gaming trend is most popular is the reason that as I have stopped watching other channels I still catch every upload of yours😊 keep it up Man. Much love from Australia!
I don't care what the lizardman and robot say, this is top tier content, right here.
I just wanna say that these videos always inspire me in how I make and play my own empires
Stellaris is a series I wish to see in the future
I guess I interact with the Video, right?
I haven’t played too much of 3.9, but there were some really good changes made. Like leader upkeep and exp reduction for going over the cap being exponential, as in it can never reach -100% exp gain anymore.
What do you mean, new Lathrix video just dropped? Well, I'm going to watch it very intently now because Stellaris is a series I wish to see continued in the future.
Funny hat man
I love the update for habitats i always hated it when the AI spammed habitats in every system and turning what would be a quick war into an annoying slog with 6-8 habitats everywhere
Yeah but now we can’t do it …I liked being able to make up for low amount of systems
Stellaris is a Series I wish to see continued in the future :D
Agreed!
I have deja vu.
I’d like to see this series continue on the channel :)
Agreed
10/10 best interactions.
Always thankfull to see more content! Thanks lath!
Love your videos man! So happy you're back in Stellaris, the long form vids are great.
Another stellaris full playthrough, love it, hope you feel better soon lathryx
Always a fan of your stellaris content, it's super relaxing and really helps me decompress at the end of the day! Keep up the great work 😊
Been waiting for more Stellaris! Love the long 1-3hr videos to fall asleep to.
Love watching the playthroughs! Very informative for those of us who are still learning many aspects of game play. Keep them coming, please!
Good to see you back enjoying Stellaris!
I'm so happy to have these back love these man keep up the great work YOU THE MAN!!!!!!
Love the long form content man! Keep up the amazing work!
Great to see another fantastic Stellaris video! I've also been super happy with the new habitat changes, as a person who likes to play tall it's nice to see them be viable again.
Took a break from Stellaris for awhile after 3.8, it's great to see all these changes, and even better to catch some playthroughs after so long! Thanks for keeping these going, Lathrix! :)
Its fantastic to see more stellaris from you Lathrix, i would be very interested in seeing more of the ideas you mentioned on how to break the game with habitats. look forward to seeing your all 3 crisises playthrough as well.
Yay!!! More stellaris!!! Love you and the videos lathrix!

Love to see more Stellaris from you! Can't wait for the triple bossfight playthrough later...
I'm glad to see you back, I've really missed your videos.
Love for the long! Keep up the good work, and dont let youtube put you down!
I’ve been waiting so long for a stellaris vid!
Great video. I wasn't sold on the new habitat mechanisms but I'm willing to give it a try after watching this.
I’m so happy to see Stellaris content again. I’ve been using the 5 hr unedited cut for sleep lately. Cheers man. Hope you are well.
Keep up the good work Lathland!
sick video, i've missed you on stellaris for a while
ooga booga me increase engagement
on a more serious note, ive watched your content ever since your first ftd series, and ive been loving watching you and your channel grow. I really hope youtube does more to support long form creators like you.
Lathrix, I love these videos. Always a pleasure when they come out. Watching now with a bit of whiskey XD.
I had a delightful terravore run, mostly because I might as well try becoming the crises once. Using worlds as breeding rocks was a huge boon for the run, and being able to focus solely on mineral and alloy income was an insane economy (starbases produce energy.) Another thing I learned was I do actually want hydroponic bays, since the food generator building actually converts them into energy at a net positive rate (better than market).
Then you sorta just expand. Traditions dont really matter beyond going for the starbase traditions early because the bonuses from terravore are nuts and even on grand admiral you sort of just... roll everyone over. It's actually an inverse difficulty in that the fewer other empires in the game the harder it is. Advanced starts don't matter either, you can run 80 corvettes in 20 years without impacting habitat production, which is limited by influence not alloys.
See another Stellaris Video from the rambling genius. Just starting it and begin the prep for dinner. What a nice way out of the week.
I don't have much time to play the game myself, so these runs are really awesome content ! Of course I'd like them to continue
Love your playthroughs! Lets make the algorithm happy
The change was great, and the video fantastic
Keep it up I love this style of videos
Glad to see more Stellaris from you!
Ty for your continued content bro
Having 10 habitats in every system used to be so tedious, much needed update. Great job on the rp elements in the video. I did a similar early rush with clone army origin... So strong early.
happy to see you back in Stellaris! playing the Good Guys (TM)
First time watching the channel, but definitely will continue to do so! Sweet build (also comment for the comments god)
Funny thing is, never played this game but watched almost all the Stellaris videos you have. Stil no idea what you do exactly, but it's just chill and cool to watch and see you destroy the whole universe. Thanks for the videos
Been waiting for my Stellaris content
Oh my, I've completely missed this! I've heard of other yt users not getting notifications for certain channels, but it never happened to me. Man I've missed loads of your content!
While I have not tried the new system, I liked the old habitats. If you'd gotten yourself pinned in somewhere you could still get heaps of (small) planet/habitats. And you could use those station automatic pop redistribution add on to great effect. And shuffling pops is the thing that I hate. By end game there's just too much fiddly work to do.
Great video as always.
I have a suggestion for a future run, based on the Chaos Dwarfs from the game "Total War Warhammer 3". The game has received some backlash after its recent DLC, but I still think the run would be fun.
In the game, the Chaos Dwarfs rely on labourers to produce the basic resource of their economy, "raw materials". However their labourer population slowly dies off, so they have to capture new ones in battle.
In Stellaris this could be represented, by restricting your main species to ruler and specialist jobs and use the forced labor purge type against other species.
I think the civic Relentless Industrialist would be fitting, since the Chaos Dwarfs are very industrialised and corrupt their territory.
There are supposed to be very few Chaos Dwarfs, so going for slow breeders or even clone soldier ascendend would be appropriate.
For asension either cybernetic or psionic would be most fitting, though cybernetic won't be very useful if you play clone soldiers.
Edit: You also shouldn't rely on vassals for basic resources, since that kind of defeats the purpose of the challenge.
Hey Lath, I've been a viewer since early middle-school. I graduate this year. And I want to say thank you for making these videos. I really enjoy your game play and humor. And I like watching you play games that I just don't have the time to play myself. I hope you stay in good health, and stellaris is a series I wish to see continued in the future. ❤🤘✌
“Fellow sane people-“
Lathrix I’m gonna cut you off right there, this is stellaris! None of us are sane!
another full playthrough im so seated
Love your videos. Hope you get better soon.=)
I'm really excited for this, one of my fave empires is a void born criminal empire
yes please let this stellaris series be continued in the future !
Sorry didn't see you posted a new video till today here's my comment hopefully it helps. O and man because of you in the last two weeks I've gotten all the dlc except 2 plus the explorer edition lol I just need Paragon and first contact I'll get them this week just felt like I should enjoy some of the dlc I've gotten before throwing more into the mix. So thank you for showing me how fun Stellaris can be worth every penny
I always love your vids!
Love you Lath!
Ah, it's always a good day when Lathrix uploads a Stellaris video!
Letts go another full playthrough 🎉🎉🎉
I love your stellaris content!
48:30 lathrix: finally our energy reserves in the plus! *immediately cuts to negative 300 energy*
Super happy to see Lathrix return to Stellaris. This is a series I wish to see continued in the future!
Appreciate the videos!
41:20 These battles look straight out of Legend of the Galactic Heroes - half-encirclements for days. Also fitting in that you started out with ambition to conquer the galaxy, and wound up doing so but creating a relatively peaceful and united empire in the process.
Yay! More Stellaris! My current life doesn't allow me to play this game so this can ease my itch. :D
glad to have you back
Love the videos mate
I have missed full campaign stellaris. glad to have this one
I attribute my love of Stellaris to you lathrix, anyway I wish to see this continue in the future
As soon as I saw you uploaded a stellaris video I had to watch it.
the way the new habitats work reminds me of a thing from my own setting - one of the various species capable of faster-than-light travel has a destroyed homeworld, and rather than living in relatively static orbital stations, they live in truly massive city-starships that roam across different systems, accompanied by fleets of both defensive combat vessels and various civilian ships.
They go around mining asteroids for resources mainly, and as one of their big 'starhomes' gets to be around its maximum size and population, a new one is built basically attached to it before being released out with its own little support fleet that it will build out
also, because i like having fantasy stuff in my sci-fi setting, they're the equivalent of dwarves. nomadic dwarven starhomes devouring asteroids to expand
I do enjoy talking to plants, this intro was very validating thank you
keep these up lath
Love your Videos so much! The thing with the crisis fleets being stuck is when they are in a system with a planet and a neighbouring system which also has a world in it. The starbase is getting rebuild and the fleet destroys the one in the other system, the starbase gets rebuild and the fleet just gets in limbo between the two systems. Fleet AI is stupid
