Puerto Rico during the years 1990-2009, paid more in taxes than 6 Official States. Residents of the territory paid $73.7 billion to the Federal government in taxes.

'Silencers' or sound suppressors are legal in many countries. Especially ones which want to preserve their wild game and wildlife in the Forrest during hunting season. The shots can be very stressful for wildlife. This technology can be used for certain types of firearms where the application is more for saftey than concealment. And also they don't silence anything most suppressors deaden the sound to more safe levels...the shots are still very loud and can be heard next door

laying on the ground is the best way avoiding get shot, my sister-in-law got shot and killed by stray bullet from running to safety. So in PR we are use to getting down on the floor when we hear gun shot 😒

There have been 12000 deaths so far in 2017, 25000 injuries. 2500 of those were Teens, and 564 of them were children. If you don't think this is a problem, you aren't paying attention.
Australia's gun violence has remained at relatively the same levels after the gun ban over 20 years ago. Mass shootings are rarer there because that country's entire population is the size of New York

It's not about having firearms or not, it's about the weapons and a lot of people in the USA seem to need their military and automatic weapons with whom you can just ''spray'' into crowds of people and kill 50-100 people within a minute and don't even need to aim really.
Here in Germany guns are allowed, but only smaller weapons and hunting rifles (no automatic) i think it's the same in the UK or atleast England and Canada.

How a feeling can be more important than peace and stability? Many countries had serious economical problems, unity and collaboration is the best alternative to overcome them. The issue is not past governments, racial confrontation or migration, the problem is not in the past, the problem is in the present and it has an economical nature. The hole world is suffering the consequences of the last word economical crisis. Division and conflict are seen everywhere, fragmentation will only make life harder for everyone. The destruction of the system will not guarantee better conditions. It's better to think of ways to transform and improve rather than break and rebuild. It is hard to imagine California exiting USA, they could have many good reasons to do so, but the sense of unity makes America strong and all Americans know this. There is now difference in this sense with Spain or European Union. Even many people in London, Scotland and Northern Ireland can understand that strength resides in numbers and that's why they don't want to leave the EU. As a note I must say that all Spanish people suffered Franco's regime and the consequences of the civil war, not only the Catalans.

Actually most catalonians don't want independence. Last sunday millions of people went out of the streets of Barcelona claiming for not independence.
And by the way, yesterday puigdemont declared he is not finally declaring catalonian republic, he stept back, so I guess it is all said. Maybe a bit late cause more than 20 big companies left catalonia in the last week.
I do agree though the politicians in Spain are mostly corrupt and incompetent but you people also have to know that a catalonian politician, Pujol, is at this time one of the most corrupts and one of the politicians that have stolen the most. This Pujol was the "predecesor" of puigdemont, and one of the liders of the separatist movement in the last months before puigdemont took power...
Oh, I also have to say I don't like the way the police acted on that day, that day should have been avoided, but also lots of people that appeared on social media claiming the police hit them and injured them have been caught lying , with false wounds and previous wounds the claimed to have been made by the police.
Anyway, this whole thing is a mess and I am pretty sad it happened, but is more complicated than the media shows to the world

Ok Spain, you have 3 choices. Either, you let Catalonia gain independence peacefully, or you refuse, and some radical separtist movement forms and tries to gain independence throught armed struggle. Or just another civil war, which ever one you choose.

Leaving Spain will force companies to relocate out of Barcelona which in turn will be very bad for the local economy. Smaller entities are less powerful in todays markets. Same with Brexit, many companies will move from London to some European City
Here in Spain we have some bad politicians, but it is completely a democracy where people can say and do wahtever they want. A part of Catalonia population believe that independence is going to fix all of their problems, but they are being fooled. They will be out of the European Union and all of their big companies will leave Catalonia. Moreover, more than half the Catalan population want to remain being a part of Spain, but independentists call them "fascists" and "bad Catalans". There is a pretty much more complicated situation than what the video shows, since Catalonia Government is violating several laws in this process. They don't want to debate democratically but to proclaim a Catalan country without a real vote.

Komrade Matt I'm sure you feel obligated to defend Catalonia probably over some wet dream you have over Civil War era Catalonian communism, but just because the region is wealthy now, does not mean it would be as wealthy or as well-off without Spain. Without Spain it would have almost no way to get into the EU. Spain would block them, France would block them because France also has a Catalonia region and would not dare to support such secession, and most other EU member countries seem to disapprove of Catalonia's actions. On top of that, the threat of not being in the EU or as part of Spain has already sent some banks and businesses to relocate, and has prompted MANY more to make plans to move in the case of secession.
There is literally no proper argument from a break away from Spain (a country that has been joined with Catalonia for over 5 centuries) except "the police were mean :( !!"
