Just returned from a trip and one of our students was in a wheelchair. Having a pusher helped. Things will take more time and the days should be a little shorter. Bring a small repair kit for the wheelchair because the cobblestones will loosen screws. Trams went well and the metro was okay although finding the elevator was always a challenge. The metro at Vysehrad was interesting, only one side was accessible so to head toward the city center you had to travel up one stop away from the city center, then cross over and catch the metro toward the city center. Restaurants were another significant challenge. The student enjoyed himself and saw a lot but he was also very flexible and willing to let us sometimes pick the chair up and carry him short distances or over several steps. Getting a tour bus for trips outside of Prague was a challenge but on one occasion our bus was the tour bus for Tap Tap. We had lots of people waving at us and taking pictures of the bus.
Very thoughtful of you guys to do a video about accessibility, is not something that people think much about, specially in the vacations/tourist industry. Kudos!!!
wow I was surprised to see the video! Very professionally done! They allowed me to the Petrin Tower only in their manual wheelchair as the electrical one they said is too heavy for the elevator. They only allowed to the first level showed by you. I was there a couple years ago so maybe things changed from there. Yes, and somehow me and my boyfriend we got to the Jewish cemetery, the biggest part of it. I suggest to ask the man who sells tickets. By the way check for the free ticket for your assistant :) actually it has to be only if you have a Czech disability card but frequently they allow the assistant to go for free even without having it. More places to check out are very bumpy but beautiful Vysehrad and a little less bumpy but still more then enough Novy svet.
Excellent video! ❤ Congratulations for such a great initiative! 🫶🏼👌🏼 Thank you for sharing such important information. Most helpful video I’ve come across. The tourism industry forgets about how important it is to share information regarding accessibility for people with disabilities, and for elderly people (hills, walking distances, etc). Good job Valerie! You rock! 💪🏻💛
Amazing video so much good information, so thorough. Thank you for doing this, wish other travel videos would present this information. Have seen most of your videos and have greatly enjoyed , your humor, your knowledge of Prague and your presentation. Thank you so much. DianaMaria
I love how detailed you are with your analysis. Looking at how narrow aisles/streets are, comparing them to cobblestoned streets, which parts are accessible, these are all details that a lot of people who don't need accessibility don't notice. This is very thorough and I'm sure a huge help to travellers when they plan their trip!
Appreciate the effort required to produce this video. There must have been a large amount of research to compile all of the facts and associated locations. While doing so, we are able to see parts Prauge not seen in previous RPG's. More impressive, Valery manages to fit in her patent sarcasm sans insensitivities.
Thank you so much for your video! As a wheelchair user I think it’s great. I’m currently here and having a super difficult time finding wheelchair accessible restrooms, so if you do another accessibility video, tips on that would be much appreciated! Thanks for being a great ally ❤
REAL PRAGUE GUIDES ARE TOP NOTCH!!! HAVING SAID THAT, I AM SURPRISED MORE AREAS ARE NOT WHEEL CHAIR FRIENDLY. I UNDERSTAND SOME AREA'S WERE BUILT WITH OUT CHAIRS BEING CONSIDERED LIKE THE TOWER OR OLD PARTS OF THE CHURCH. THANKS VALERY FOR BRINGING THIS UP. I HOPE THAT THE PRAGUE "POWERS TO BE" HEEDS VALERY'S RECOMMENDATIONS. GREAT VIDEO!!!🌹👌🙏
Honestly think something needs to be done about wheelchair design as well - nearly all are designed with small radius tyres - designs do exist though with bigger wheels which would be much better at dealing with bumps and cobbles. Narrow is more difficult as it would affect lateral stability but perhaps they could be variable for fitting through narrow gaps that are relatively flat. Joke was funny (delivery could have been better!)
Thanks a lot dear, for this wonderful video which is going to be very useful when I bring my dear special son who is 23 year old differently abled person. We will be there as tourist while we get to accompany our dear daughter who is joining Charles 1st faculty for medicine. This video was very useful as it gives an insight for us with a wheel chair bound dear son. Appreciate your kind & useful efforts for the benefit of society.💕💞😍👍👏
Your videos are wonderful! We love Prague but accessibility is an issue. We rented a more durable scooter locally, which was very helpful. Cobble stones very challenging. We love your videos.
Just returned to the US after a two week visit to the Czech Republic. We were lucky to tour Prague Castle with Valery. (I corrected your English about 'southern' and 'mosaic.') I just realized Valery is a dead ringer for Villanelle in the TV show 'Killing Eve.' Same look, same accent! We had a great tour!
Hi. Thank you for making this video. I visited in 2012 with a friend. I have spinal problems. Each night I was in severe pain after walking round your city. I thank you for making this video. I found your city so wonderful. The sights, the food, the people, the bear. I wanted to return. I was not able to do so due to spinal problems. Your city is not disabled friendly.
I.P. Pavlova metro station seems to be accessible today (May of 2023), according to Google street view images. I'm not sure though whether you consider this to be in the "City Centre".
Hi, I love all your videos. My great great grandparents were born in Bohemia in 1836. My grandads last name was Vykysal. Thought I would throw this out there. It seems to be a very uncommon name today.
I was thrilled to see this. We have not yet felt secure enough to bring our guide dog with us on a foreign trip. So I have to act as a seeing eye husband. My wife feels tethered to me. Our fears are about acceptance, strays and what is probably best described as culture shock for the dog--different environments (like cobbles and balustrades to name a few). Any thoughts??
Sorry to say it doesn't look wheelchair friendly , also if I could point out visitors need toilets are there any ? do the restaurants and bars have them for wheelchairs ? To do a real guide you need to try it in a real wheelchair because going over those cobble stone streets is painful and wears you out . Also the climb at the end ??? try that in a wheelchair no chance . But thanks for the video it was entertaining and interesting .

Why in 2023 Are disabled people still not given the same rights and consideration as other people? Its a shameful World we live in. You can be anything except disabled!

Thank you for the feedback. It's very helpful.
It’s just a couple more years before I’m in a wheelchair. Thanks for the tips and a great video Valerie and company. 😊👍

It is very kind of you guys to do this vlog…thank you for all you do for Prague visitors.
Thank you so much, as I am a wheelchair user arriving today to Prague.
and this video gave me a lot of information

Very good guy’s and a great video for those people less mobile all capitals and countries suffer from accessibility issues.
Informative and beautiful video I just appreciate you velery because I am about 4000 kms away from you in Pakistan much more prayers for you thanks

Very informative video 👍🏻
what I don't understand is why you wouldn't actually bring a wheelchair user with you to test out what you were saying

Thank you, sorry to hear you were not able to return… Maybe one day!
Very good job, well done ✅
Make more videos when you have time.

Somewhat off topic: Happy 665th birthday to Charles Bridge, 9 July 2022 !!! May you have 665 and more!!
tnxxx!
Valery very very useful information, I'll be in Prague next December I'm wheelchair user. Only a question. Where do you buy or pay the tram tickects?

Verry good job...
IS THE PETRIN TOWER TWINNED WITH THE BLACKPOOL TOWER ANGLIA
I wanted to see someone in a wheelchair try and use the Paternoster elevator.
Why the fuck would you want that
@@eliskaneugebauer5338 It is a bit of dark humour pointing out that the elevators are not friendly for the handicapped.

As a add on why not measure the parts, so people can know if their wheelchairs fit or not ?
RPGs clearing the path for all, including those who need help with accessibility.
But isnt wheeling uphill very very tiring? Even you were tired..
Добрый день! Вы проводите экскурсии на рус языке? Есть группа людей, хотим на интересную экскурсию по Праге !
Hi! Unfortunately we don’t provide tours in Russian. Only in English ❤️
It was definitely dad joke funny :}

Future video topic. Is Prague gay?
