Welcome to Tennessee! I’m an hour southeast from Nashville and am happy that y’all decided to come. You need to go down Music Row, Broadway (Tootsie’s Bar), Bluebird Cafe, The Parthenon in Cenntennial Park, Opryland Hotel, The Grand Ole Opry and the list goes on and on. I hope y’all have a wonderful time!
Welcome to Tennessee!! Come see East Tennessee, the leaves are at peak. Beautiful colors! I am near Knoxville and at the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountain National Park in a town called Maryville.
Would love to see you reaction to dining at Monell’s. They sit groups of people at a “family dining table” and you pass all of the dishes around as they bring them out. I’m always seated with interesting people from all over the world when I go there
Have fun in Nashville! You should have decent weather during your trip. It will get cold about the time you are leaving. Just be aware that our Veterans Day is Nov 11th. It is a national holiday, so some places might be closed.
Now you’re (almost) in the Deep South … Nashville not technically in Deep South, but we count them… so you will experience some proper Southern hospitality!
I'm sorry but cracker barrel is pure crap. So low quality. Joel went in Florida over two years ago and he hated it. They need to try good food not a low end chain restaurant that is all over the United States. Sorry
@@ElleS572 They do seem to eat at a lot of chain restaurants. They've been at this for a while, so they probably know what gets the most views. On the other hand, if I happened upon a video titled "We Found the Secret Best Restaurant in Nashville", I would watch it.
What an epic trip! Trying to keep up and catch up with every episode. They post while I'm at work. I don't get home until midnight so I end my day with binging J&L until 2am, lol. Just watched the First Brits in America episode and that Air B&B is gorgeous!
I'm so glad you're showing how lovely it is in Nashville, as a Brit I would not normally think of visiting as new york or california would be first choice but it really looks like a wonderful place to visit and am inspired so, thank you.
Oh it’s a ton of fun there. The musical talent is truly unrivaled and it’s everywhere. The southern food? Incredible. It’s affordable, open, and the people, due to it being Bible Belt, are absolutely delightful.
Can't wait to see what Nashville has to offer! Someone in chat mentioned that the CMA Awards might still be hiring seat fillers. Not sure if your work visa covers gigs like that, but it's worth a look.
Thank you for doing the live streams. I enjoy them and your other videos too! Keep them coming and we, The Legends will watch. Have fun in Nashville & thanks for the laughs and sharing your fun on your trip. Luv it!
Love the conversation about who owns the stars 😂. I bought my sisters stars to names when they were younger… somewhere up there is “Bekah Boo’s Cupcake Couture”.
I have followed Joel for a while, now follow you here for the trip 🥰 Sorry I can’t see you live, the time difference is bad, it’s late at night, but I have watched all your videos so fare 🤩
If you get a chance to visit the Smokey Mountains, do the Cade’s Cove tour, the scenery is sublime and you don’t even have to get out of the car. It’s like stepping back in time to a pioneer homestead, just gorgeous.
34:30 “Black Rock” - close, Joel, but I think you’re talking about Plymouth Rock, where a ship full of pilgrims called the Mayflower landed. That’s up north in Massachusetts - where you’d be if you’d actually gone to Boston.
Tennessee is such a beautiful state. Looks warmer this week too compared to last but it will get chilly later this week into the weekend! Have fun in Nashville!
Congrats on being the 1st Brits in the US.🎉. Tennessee is a beautiful state. Hubby and I drove from New Hampshire to Texas this summer (to see our son and daughter in law) and we stopped in Memphis to see Elvis’ home and on the way back from Texas we stopped at various points in the Smoky Mountains and in Pigeon Forge home of Dollywood. Next time we drive we will stop in Nashville. Have a great time and safe travels. Ps - Love the live streams. Great work you two.👍❤️
That was my husband on the plane with you. I didn't watch this till just now, but that's hilarious. The last time I watched you i knew that you would be in Toronto at the same time as my husband. He was going to be at a wedding and I thought there would be no chance he would see you at all. Also, I didn't think he knew who you were, because I watch you before I sleep on my ipad. But he did!! because sometimes I fall asleep watching and the ipad is still running and he takes it out of my hands and turns it off. HAHAHA!
If you go to East TN (about an 1 1/2- 2 hour drive) Brushy Mountain State Penitentiary is now a Moonshine Distillery! We also have Dollywood (Queen Dolly Parton's theme park), Museum of Appalachia which shows traditional Appalachian life, and tons of amazing parks for hiking in the mountains.
Welcome to Nashville! Food to try: biscuit love, the grilled cheeserie, bar taco, masala house, jeni’s splendid ice cream, five daughters bakery, pfunky griddle, and milk and honey. The Parthenon, Opry land hotel (hopefully the Christmas stuff is up), radnor lake state park has lots of different hiking trails and it’s so pretty, the Nashville flea market. I’m sure you guys will go to Broadway, but you should also check out printers alley. It has bars and clubs too, but not as hectic as Broadway. Have fun and stay safe, especially on Broadway! ❤️
You should head down to Chattanooga, much better than Nashville. ETA: It's Savannah Candy Kitchen because the original is in Savannah, GA, which is incidentally a gorgeous town.
Others can weigh in here, but in the US, I think 20% should be the standard tip for good service. To me 15% shows something was wrong, or it wasn’t a full service restaurant. State laws allow servers to be paid as low as $2.13 per hour - far below the National minimum wage of $7.25. Restaurants are allowed to pay such a low wage because it’s assumed they’ll make it up on tips.
Lia if your worried about your baggage being over....try to layer some of your clothing while on the flight....it will save you some money if your not too far over😘 welcome back to the US
You should hop across the state line to Kentucky and go see the Cumberland Falls. And the Corvette Museum. Also. Tennessee has good food and has the Country Music Museum.
You should try Cracker Barrel while you’re here. Some people love it and some don’t. Their breakfast is my favorite. Try the hash brown casserole if you go. Id love to see y’all’s reaction to the food and the decor. One whole half of the restaurant is a store.
I KNEW y'all were throwing us off by announcing the wrong airline. Lol. Joel's body language gave it away and you're much too intelligent to give the correct airline away... I was thinking Nashville could be it. Good choice!!!! TN is beautiful, especially eastern TN in the Smoky Mountains. Hope y'all get to see it. I lived near Knoxville for a bit. Taylor Swift is from Reading, Pennsylvania (pronounced Redding). An hour from where I live. She is truly a northerner. That's why when she speaks it's without much of a drawl. U only have to drive about 2 hours south though and you can hear it in the general public. However, I think she did live in Nashville after that since it's a big music town where talent goes to be seen and heard and to "arrive" lol.
Nashville was dubbed The Athens of the South because of the large number of colleges and universities, especially considering the size of the town at the time. Many of those have since consolidated so the number of institutions has dropped. The replica of the Parthenon was built during the city's centennial celebration in the late 19th century.
Check out tickets online to the Grand Ole Opry. You never know what stars will be singing on any given day. And the Blue Bird Cafe looks like a dive, but it's the best dive in the world and you never know what stars will just show up to sign there either.
If possible try to go to the University of Tennessee football game in Knoxville this weekend. They will play the number 1 rated University of Georgia in Saturday and it will be crazy. Not sure if the game itself will be any good but the environment will be lit.
I laughed when they kept going on & on re the "huge" size of the rooms in that hotel. The rooms were on the smallish size but compared to the tiny rooms in the UK, I guess they seem big. What really doubled me over with laughter was when they thought the picture of Johnny Cash over the bed in Lia's room was Elvis Presley.
You definitely have to visit the Gaylord Opryland Hotel. You need to set aside a couple of hours. We are called Tennesseans or Volunteers - Tennessee is aka the Volunteer state. Dollywood and Graceland are about 9 hours apart by car
