Sometimes you don't realize you were doing something dangerous until you watch your footage back during editing. Then you realize you're lucky you still have all your digits.
I’m always surprised at the lens by which miniaturists view the world. Who would have thought an earring back would look like faucet hardware? That grommet is a perfect drain.
When my daughter was young she and I got into dollhouse miniatures in a big way. We traveled to regional shows and took classes so trust me when I tell you that this woman is a master of her craft.
I love how you gave options for the faucets - mass produced, beads, or making them from absolute scratch - so absolutely anyone can do this. Wonderful tutorial once again ❤❤
First of all, BRAVO for not using a 3D printer to make this. I absolutely appreciate that the sink was totally hand made. It turned out perfect - looking at it, I would have thought it was purchased. Second, you CRACK ME UP. I love your dry wit - "to be safe, have someone else hold it" - yup, love it!!! ;)
How it went from rough looking clay to smooth white porcelain is amazing!! This is inspiring and thats what I'll tell RUclips if they ask why i liked the video
WOW ! Absolutely brilliant. I'm always impressed when someone creates things using 'everyday' materials. You excel at that. (I laughed out loud at "if you want to be safe, let someone else hold it") 🤣
i am so in love with this porcelain look! miniature "toilet aisle at lowes" project here i come!!! In my real 1870 house, we have a lot of iron pipes used for little handrails on all of the outdoor stairs. These q-tip pipes are going to make an appearance as railings for sure! good stuff!
@@queencityminis it'd be super easy. I'll just get a victorian dollhouse and an ebay lot of barbie clothes. Cover every surface with laundry .. piles and piles of tiny laundry. Voila! Seriously though, I'm currently sketching out a little courtyard area of our yard that I want to put inside a fancy victorian greenhouse that I'm making as a stained glass project. Also my 7 y.o. daughter and I are planning a dollhouse rehab youtube channel as a summer project, for better or worse. I don't know how you content creators manage ideas and projects so well!
That sink came out phenomenally well! At the beginning I thought there was no way what you started with would end up looking so smooth and polished, but seriously I should know better than that with your skills and talent. Bloody fantastic!
@queencityminis Having now seen the finished product, I'm in AWE of your creativity. A stunning collection of unique creations, painstakingly invented as you go along, leading to an amazing display full of genius details and with so much deep backstory. In AWE! 💕
OMG I love how this basin turned out! It goes to show you really do need to trust the process as when you pressed the clay over the mould, I wasn't sure how you were going to bring it all together, but you did and it looks phenomenal! Can't wait to see what project it turned up in 🤩
Thank you! I didn't realize how truly ugly the beginning stages were until I read the comments. I knew it turned out great, so I was unconcerned. It really did look like a mess in the beginning 😆 I like creating shapes likes this by baking a simple shape first and using liquid clay and clay to add basic shapes around it. It's so much easier than trying to sculpt all of it at once. This was easy; baked basin from a sheet of clay, then three sheets for the top, front, and back.
That is so cool, I have never used polymer clay before but I bought a starter pack with a heap of colours after seeing Little Gretchen make food for her dollhouse/roominghouse and thought it was about time I gave it a try.
I struggle with making polymer clay food. I love Little Gretchen's simple techniques. It looks great without being too advanced like Sugar Charm Shop's work. Gorgeous, but out of my skillset.
Wow, this was so inspirational. Who knew I didn’t need to buy thousands of dollars of supplies, but could make my own. I've been working on my doll condo for a couple of weeks. So glad I found your channel. I'm sure I can find some other inspiration beforebI finish it. Thank you.
Hi, watch your videos from distant Germany. I love the way you guid us through all the little details you`re creating to make those mini artworks perfect. Thank you and Greetings!
I really enjoy your videos. Especially because you give techniques that we can achieve with what we have on hand! no need for expensive fancy tools! The result is always great! 😍😍 thank you so much for sharing with us! 💕💕💕💕
Great idea to glaze it with wood glue. I would've wasted a ton of time using glazing paste instead, which would've cost more and needed several longer passes.
To make it easier to sculpt, I baked the bowl part separately to hold the shape. I didn't want to have to keep fixing it as I added the flat sink part and formed the back. It's easier to make a couple different geometric shapes and combine them than it is to sculpt everything at once. I only baked this one as I was making it, but a more complicated shape would be baked multiple times.
“To be safe you should have someone else hold it.” I literally lol’d. 😂 Your work is brilliant btw.
Me too!!! Bawhaha. Love, k
So did I!!! Hahaha
Thank you! 😁
Pure genius! ❤

I'm so psyched about that. I just bought the earring backs very recently.

I really thought the sink was store bought before I watched the video. Beautiful job as always!
Thanks so much! 😊
Yeah, I was CONVINCED this must've been store bought!! Incredible
RUclips needs more miniaturists building from scratch to help newbies get into the craft 👏👏👏👏
I agree 👏

Excellent! Tell them
I am in awe that you made the sink. Wow! Then I'm so impressed that you made the faucets.❤
I wanted the entire thing to be made from scratch, so the metal faucets had to go.
@@queencityminis I couldn't believe that you made those too. You are Super Woman.😉
WOW ! Absolutely brilliant. I'm always impressed when someone creates things using 'everyday' materials. You excel at that.

Haha 😆 Glad you caught that
I loled at that comment as well😂

Very cool! Maybe you need to make a mini version of your antique house.

I cant wait to see what roombox materializes out of this sink!😊🫶🏾
Oooh, you have no idea. I've been working in the background on something for way too long...
Earring back?! Who would’ve thought! So creative,
Thank you!
You are so full of talent. What an awesome sink

😆 I'm awful
Wow! I can’t believe you made that with the stuff already in the house! Thank you! You are such an inspiration!
Thank you so much! It was a lot of fun
Where were you in the 60’s when I was making miniatures! …..Like Tiffany lamps out of ping pong balls! Fabulous!
That's amazing! I hope some of the minis you made are still around.
Absolutely perfect little sink! The details make it stunning. Thank you for showing us how to do custom faucets. Great video!
Glad you liked it! Now I wanna make a kitchen faucet with the other type of handle.
Very impressive. I’ll hold that sink for you!
Thank you so much 💓

I have a Chrysenbon (sp?) sink from their bathroom set I’ve had for years. But now I want to make my own sink! Pure genius!❤
I love Chrysnbon! Their pieces are perfectly to scale.

That is so freaking cute! Great instructions, you really make me think I can make one too! I probably can't but you sure make it look easy!! Thanks!!
You could probably do this! I baked it a few times, making one simple shape at a time to make it a lot easier to make.
How utterly beautiful and amazing 😍

You are pretty creative and I like that about you too. Have a great day
Thank you so much 🤗
This was brilliant. I totally love it. My sink needs a new pipe so...I always have my husband hold minis that I'm drilling 😂😍✨
Smart lady 😂
A small bench -top vise with felt or leather lining the jaws might work to hold stuff for drilling.
Omg looks better than anything you could buy . Fantastic work as always x

Great work, as always. I appreciate your attention to detail. Great tips on how to use wood glue to add some dimension.
I got that tip from Bentley House Minis way back when she did her abandoned coffee shop project. It's a great technique.
A work of Genius! 🤩

Awesome. I need a sink...so I will try this.
You should! I baked mine a couple times to lock in the shape and kept adding clay in stages to make sculpting it easier.
Great idea to glaze it with wood glue. I would've wasted a ton of time using glazing paste instead, which would've cost more and needed several longer passes.

I'm curious why you baked the bowl part separate from the top? Was it due to different thicknesses or something else?
To make it easier to sculpt, I baked the bowl part separately to hold the shape. I didn't want to have to keep fixing it as I added the flat sink part and formed the back.
