An honorable mention would be the AMC Javelin Pierre Cardin edition. It's one of the first cars to tie in designer clothing in an attempt to generate sales. The wild plum, orange, ivory, and black color scheme combined with the fender flares of the second-generation Javelin make it a truly sensational package.
The Mark Donahue Javelin could have made this list as well as well as all other AMC muscle such as the AMX and SC Scrambler.

My God, it seems that all these cars are all topping over that 7.0 liter . Now those are Strong Muscle Cars.
Now you are talking my language with the musclee car, this is what I truly like, again a good video along with the old classic cars.
Robert Payne + Thank you ! :)
Really KOOL Cars!
First of all a 1970 LS6, Chevelle is not rated at 456 HP, it is rated at 450 HP. Another thing when referring to engine sizes of this era it is cubic inches. A liter is someone who is out front in the race.
Also, this particular Chevelle SS was not rare or a special edition. That LS6 454 was a production engine but available only in the Chevelle SS. Chevy deemed it too bad ass for the Nova and Camaro. I believe the 454 for the Corvette that year was an LS5.
@myron162 The 1970 LS6 was rare enough they only produced about 4500 of them including coupes, convertibles And El Caminos. I got mine in 1974 after the oil embargo caused gas prices to go crazy. You couldn't give a muscle car away back then but I figured it was just what a 20 year old growing boy needed. Mine had along with the LS6 a 4SP and 4.10 gears. I put on a set of Headers by Ed with a free flowing exhaust and replace the Goodyear poly-glass tires with BF Goodrich TA radials and took it out Hemi hunting.
@@anthonynelson9136 I agree 4500 could be rare. Not so much a special edition. The car I own had just over a 3000 production run for that particular year and it's hardly a special edition. Other years were lower, some with just a few hundred.
And these engines also produced more power and had higher top end speeds then what is mentioned here
A lot of the posted horsepower numbers don't make sense.
That was amazing
Fantastic 👏🏻
Thank you :)
Where would a guy even find one of these classic muscle cars if he had the money to buy one ? Would it be like finding a needle in a haystack? Great video! Thanks, John
john g + Thank you john !
I noticed that the Torino Talladega footage is from Gateway Motors, which is in Plymouth, MI. They have a lot of incredible muscle cars for sale.
That last one with the Chrysler 300 with you he Hurst now that is for the 40 Year old manwhores car. Right up there with the '70 mercury marauder X100.
Fast bois
Another Great Video. Bravo. You took me back in time my friend. As a Ford and Pontiac nut in architecture school in 1980's Houston I had a 1970 Mercury Cougar 351C and a Pontiac Can Am. The house sold next door to a Ford nut. The first car that he pulled up in was a 1973 Cougar with 351C CJ convertible and when he settled in the driveway was adorned with two (2) 1969 Ford Talladega's!! One had the original 428 Cobra Jet and the other had a 427 side oiler. We got along great. I had a friend that had a Rallye 350 it was fun to see people rubber neck it. The 1970 Chevelle SS 454 was no bullshit. What country was the COPO 427 Camaro in?
Patrick Farmer wow , Thank you sir :)
i owned a 1967 mercury comet capri with the 427-425 hp engine.
i sold it to purchase a 1969 hurst amx.52 were built and two were shipped to canadian dealers.that was the fastest car i ever drove and it should be in this article.
hell yeah thats the best amx ever made
The Ford Boss 429 produced A LOT more power than what was advertised, it's believed to have a horsepower rating of at least 500hp....
Maybe, but never proven. Ford tried to copy the Hemi here but never had the reliability OR horsepower of the elephant motor they so desperately tried to copy!
Overall, it was an unproven failure!
The intakes on the BOSS 429 were way too big for a street car (even in the non-racing version). While they made decent HP higher in the rev-range, the low end performance wasn't very good. Also, NASCAR started phasing out big blocks right when they introduced it so Ford dropped development on the engine.
A good video with a lot of rare cars but there was some wrong information on it. The Oldsmobile rally 350 was only made in 70 not 69. The LS six motor made 450 hp not 456. Ford never made of 425 in.³ engine.
1969 Camaro - COPO 9560 and COPO 9561 are rare. The ZL1- only 69 were ever built.
Cool
1968 XR7-G Dan Gurney Special
390 sunroof swivel drivers seatw/tilt away steering wheel
Wow! If you think that a Ford Thunderbolt would only do 124 mph, you have another thing coming. I had a Rambler that would do that, and if you were to make a Thunderbolt compete evenly with my old Rambler, you'd hafta pull off at least 2 spark plug wires.
The Fairlane Thunderbolt had a really "Deep Gear", that gave it Rapid Acceleration. But, hindered its Top Speed.
I kinda feel like holdin the brake to spin the tires isnt considered a real burnout, if a car can white smoke the tires by just punching it then its damn badass and most these cars can do that, but the drivers just think they have to hold the brake.....
how do you get that deep heavy rich engine noise for your car
Buy a 7 liter V8
@@robertpfuhl2679 small block would work too
We still have our 1969 Buick stage 1 in Alberta Canada my son bought it in1973 he kept coming home from school with money I ask him wher are you getting this money? He said those fire birds and corvettes want to drag It was the third fastest made behind the Shelby Cobra and the 427 Corvette They only made 800 US an Canada This is the onlyone in Canada
171 mph in a Ford Torino? Even if it could do it, what's to keep the tires from flying off?
Our Buick stage 1 made my son alot of money when he was in hi school this is Factory original car of a list of the fastest cars it placed third behind the Shelby Cobra and the 427 Corvtte The manual says only use racing tires it will shred ordinary tires There was only 800 made by Buick
The Oldsmobile wasn't 1969
1970 had one once.
Dude,I Think your Stats are Way off...
I do not care what any one says, I know their are faster 4 and 6 cyl cars, quicker than V8's, but NOTHING sounds as good as a lumpy V8 on full noise.
Its a 427 not 425
There ae some realy nice cas here. I'm a mopar man but the 300H was a total embarrassment!
Maybe so but its a luxury muscle car and not everyone understands that
Did the Chrysler Hurst 300 have the same engine as the Dodge Challenger/Charger.?
I believe it was a standard 4 barrel
i think so because chargers and challengers also came with a optional 440
where are the 440-6 n the hemi cuda's? get your act together n whats with all the highly modified drag cars? thats not factory by a long shot
Your clearly not looking at the proper specs the thunder bolt is a 427 not a 425 that's a Cadillac big block the 7.0L for ford is the 427
7 liter hemi dart? Well ok
I was expecting higher horsepower from having such big engine capacity. A straight six BMW m30 with minimal mods has around 330 -350 horsepower
spud mckenzie not nearly as much torque than any v8 though.
You included minimal mods, these are straight stock engines
@@TheSleepyMechanic0524 Yeah good for ploughing a field
Almost all V8s were under rated to comply with insurance standards of the times, I knew a family of mopar maniacs that had a 440 six pack dynoed and it from the factory was over 600 bhp
saying you video features Rare Editions Of Muscle Cars implies you are showing rare edition of factory built cars of which only 3 cars in your video qualify as, the 69 olds rally, 69 copo camaro and the 70 hurst 300, all the rest of the cars in your video have been so heavily modified that they no longer represent anything close to rare factory built cars.......
You people got hp ratings wrong plus cu dispacement wrong.
All of these cars has a worse air drag coefficient.
You forgot the 73 through 76 Chevelle Laguna.
Major failure to not include the AMC Javelin Mark Donahue addition.. go do your home work!
