I love HP and fast cars are everything to me. But... Did the muscle car world become a tad bit jaded when the hellcat, demon, scat pack and other feces sounding trim levels became avaliable? Spirit of a muscle car is built, not bought. Still want one tho 😁
Modern muscle kicks old muscle ass. The 2nd race, the stang is a street legal car, probably stock. Yet that full blown drag car, not street legal, only won by a second. The Mustang can drive home or anywhere if he wants. Kick ass car and practical. Drag cars are worthless. 2nd race, the modern Mustang barely modded, beats the ass over the full blown drag car. Again, Modern Muscle over any old shit.
The classics are even more comfortable. Their big cushy seats, softer suspension with much more travel and much higher profile tires all results in a cloud like ride quality unmatched by todays washboard/horse buggy ride quality caused by super tight suspension, sporty less cushy seats and sporty low profile tires that don't absorb the bumps as well as larger ones. The nicest riding cars I've ever ridden in were a 66 Chrysler Newport and a 71 Cadillac Calais. They both ride like you are on a cloud. The Chrysler came from the factory with a 383 big block and I outran a guy in a modern Daytona Charger with it on the way to work one day. The Cadillac also came with a 365 HP 7.7 liter 472 cubic inch monster of a V8 with 500 foot pounds of torque and really hauls ass for such a big car. It has a 3 speed auto like most old muscle cars and will go 90 MPH in second gear in drive. Haven't seen top speed but it will pull for a long time after pinning the 120 MPH speedo.
@BLACKSTRIPE They still are wicked fast considering the modern muscle cars all need computerized superchargers to reach the same level of performance as the old carbureted V8's. I have a 68 Satellite/Roadrunner that looks just like the green one with a black hood in this video, it is the same car under the skin as a 68-70 Charger. I put together a badass 360 small block that is making about the same power as a stock 440 six pack big block. My car only weighed 3400 pounds stock and a 2021 Hemi Charger weighs 4200 pounds. That's an 800 pound difference in the old cars favor. The Hemi in the 2020 Charger R/T package was rated at 375 HP and 395 TQ stock, and the old school 440 Six Pack was rated at 390 HP and 490 TQ stock. So this means the old car not only weighs almost one thousand pounds less than its modern counterpart but it also makes almost 100 more foot pounds of torque and makes notably more horsepower. I've seen this play out in real life too when a guy in a new Hemi Charger R/T tried to outrun me three times in a row at three different stop lights and I beat him badly all three times. To help put this into perspective the 30 year world record for the highest torque rating in a production car was held by the 1970 Buick GSX at 500 foot pounds and wasn't outdone until the series 2 V10 Vipers came out 30 years later. The 440 six Pack was just a few numbers shy of that world record and came in cars like mine that weighed about the same as a 90's Supra or a Fox body Mustang. This is why it almost always takes a supercharger or some other drastic measures to get a modern muscle car to compete with an older one. The old ones just had purely insane torque and crazy weight to HP ratios.
