I like how when Ingress was made, nobody was hyping over it and nobody's going outside and playing it but when they slap the original 151 Pokemon on it, all of the sudden everyone's going outside and capturing points and finding Pokemon.
I know.i honestly wish I knew about Ingress before Pokemon Go.

No fighting?? My colleague, a girl, was chased and attacked by a inadequate player from the opposite team while trying to “hack the portal” and was injured, a criminal case was initiated. Warn your friends to be careful, because there are more and more inadequate people.
@@eugenijusp Unfortunately, there were a share of toxic and unhinged players. I play ENL and wished I could say it was all RES, but I knew several players on ENL that I had to break contact with too.
On the plus side, I met a lot more cool people on both factions than idiots.

Only just got into Ingress a few weeks ago, but only recently even understood how to play it because there are barely any portals in my area and they are all so FAR. But it's warmer so I can actually walk to the few that are there! I can see why my entire family loves this, even if I was bullied into joining the Enlightenment team. XD Thank you guys so much.

They made a PoGo demo for hololens recently and Niantic also had a partnership with Microsoft now.

Yes it’s super draining like You could only use it for a short amount of time before depleting your battery completely but still; shouldn’t it be able to be processed at least on our modern devices?

Khanin the Uhnahkian The weather has it's pros and cons :D Yes, it's pretty damn hot everywhere right now, but phone batteries tend to work better in hot weathers, so the GPS won't kill of your phone battery so soon.
Plus, you can take a trip with the bike and do the things, but the game won't count your walked kilometers in the stats. It can detect if you go faster than the walking speed. (And why would you cycle with 5 km/h?)

Khanin the Uhnahkian No, it just simply won't count the distance you cover, because calculated from the GPS, you were using some kind of transport. And that's not walking :D

+facelockmo These sort of players give the rest of us legit players a really bad name. I've made it a point to be friendly with the enemy Enlightened in my area, even if they piss me off. Its meant to be a social game. They cover the city, I congratulate them in spite of myself, since I live in a city of a million people and that shit is impressive regardless of what side you're on. There are bad apples, and some people need to remember that it is just a game after all. How does the world owe them something they likely didn't know existed three weeks ago?

After 3 years of playing I still adore this video!
Before I started playing, a walk outside was just a walk. Now, everywhere i go, i cant just look at others around me as just everyday people. I ask myself, are they resistance or enlightened? Are they on thier way to a portal? This game will totally change your mindset and way of thinking about life. It draws you in and captivates you.
...Word of advise, be sure that your GPS setting is on High Accuracy, otherwise you will be walking in circles trying to figure out where a single portal is.

Haven't played in a long time--this game lead to me go on a lot of adventures and work with a lot of new people. It was great a while ago. This video is making me want to get back into it. Ha--I even read a short novella written around the game.

This game is good for people whom live in a hot environment. Where i live at its freezing cold so will have to wait til summer in june to play it cause im not running outside freezing trying to find stuff and then having my battery dying. Also will have to be putting gas in my car everyday. Ill stay home warm playing games online.

Ingress is an awesome game! It's great exercise program at that. I find that to be the greatest benefit. Playing is also fun. What's even better is when two or more people group up to make strategic plays.

yes anywhere, your smartphone should have GPS included, just give it a try, and yes, there are some places, where Portals are rare, but you won't find any city without at least a bunch of portals ;) also watch you faction-comm to communicate with others and ask for google-hangouts communities, hope this helped ^^

I've watched three different videos on how to start with Ingress but not one has told me how to do so. It must require require some sort of hardware or software, but not one website or video tells you what you actually need. I have a Garmin GPS unit. Is that what I need? In fact, I have three, not counting the one in my car. But there is no Ingress button on any of them. Talk about lame design.

It's for phones...when they say "GPS" they mean the GPS on a smart phone
its a great game it has some issues but it really pushes you to get out into the world and see things you may never have before!

+KaYSTYLEB3ATS it depends on your level. there are restrictions depending on how high you level is, the higher your level the longer you can make links
The distance you can link a portal depends on portal lvl. The higher the portal lvl the longer you can link. Also you can use link amps and Softbank ultralinks to extend the range. Keep in mind though, you need keys, the keys are consumed when you link, and you can't cross links. So for big fields you may need to organize with others to clear a path for the link.
Love how it brought me to so many places I haven't visit before, from board game stores to parks, other than the laggy global chat, love it.

I just started the game (enlightened) and it seems very kool. I had no idea people would be so serious about the game. I hear of people climbing mountains and using planes to get portals. Just amazing.
And the local faction members are very supportive. Seems like an awesome community. Cant wait to level up!

Morgrom A "serious gamer" would play this like any other game. You guard "portals" and "attack portals" by seeing when an opponent is fiddling with their phone for too long there. Then you "gank" him by beating him up with your friends and smash his phone so he has a respawn timer (hospital) and has to go find a new weapon (phone). XD
I played this game for a couple weeks back in 2014 and loved it but due to having terrible tech it was impossible and i only remebered about it today im so ready to get back into it
I'm gonna bring my gang into this and camp portals. Our guns will make sure the enemy faction doesn't cap the ones we're camping.

try cycling and trying to hack...almost went into a pond. The portal was an info plaque at the edge.
the less im staring at my screen the less fun im having tho. i like the danger of walking into traffic because theres a portal in middle of this 5 way intersection

RedMiner well yes it is gyms are portals and to weaken a gym you use Pokemon to lower movation bar to 0 movation bar in ingress is the energy bar for resnators to refill them you use XM = berries in Pokemon Pokemon are the xm Buster's and resesnators in Pokemon go there for they are quite the same expect the linking part.

i was on a field trip to atlanta georgia and there was sooooooo many enlightenment portals and fields, my finger fell off from all the hacking
Unlike the friendly urban rivalry depicted, in our area, agents climb mountains to claim “King of the Hill”.
We field over huge swaths of territory making playing underneath impossible. Players climb peaks at night in snowstorms.
Damn...while i farm and link while sitting back at trains back and fort across cities years ago.

Pokemon Go is made by Niantic, the people who produced Ingress in 2011, so at the time that Ingress was made, there was nothing like it. That being said, in PoGo, there's no benefit to actually owning a Gym, but in Ingress, it's vital to create control fields strategically so you don't waste your keys, and try to dominate a zone, then a city.
I play both games, but I find that PoGo is fun when I'm just chillin around, but Ingress is waaay more fun when I'm trying to achieve something.
Ingress goes through "seasons" basically timed periods of competition in which your team tries to score as many points as possible. These turn into events all over the globe. For example, look up ingress November lima and you can check out the current event

I'd play this game if pretty much every aspect of this game including the video wasn't so cringeworthy. "Hacking" portals, resonators, xmp(?) bursters... I'm happy for anyone that can enjoy this but definitely not my cup of tea. At least Pokemon GO has the nostalgia effect. This is just.. weird with even weirder videos.

Ehh... I get that I'm supposed to run around the place and score points or whatever for a chosen team, but what difference does it make? What do the points or territories do? What's the point of the entire game? Does either side eventually win or does it just keep going? If one wins does the game reset?

So, what happens once a faction gains control of the portal? Sure connecting the portals controls the land, but what happens within that land? Do you laydown roots? Build communities? If another faction takes over, do those communities get taken over? What happens after you capture the flag?
1. Control lands can give you a badge (after certain amount)
2. Connecting portal can use for our own sake or Block other faction to create one (because link can't through or cross each other)
3. We all can gather for farming, because we need at least 8 people to create lvl 8 portal (highest level, without "Jarvis / Ada" method
4. We can destroy other faction farming portal so they have to gather again to build one
5. I found this more than game, because the community, we can't play alone, we need them let say we need other people in other portal to create link (can cross country or island) so we can make community and gather. To give some portal key from each country or places.
5. But I have to admit, because only two faction, the competition sometimes go to far to our real life problems with other agents
But just enjoy it, find a friends from your faction they will help you out :)

Wait, so what happens if there's another dude next to the portal you found, and he's from the other guys. Do you two fight it out? is there any way to permanently win the portal? You two just keep changing it back and forth? What if there's 3, 4, 5, 6 other dudes at the portal?
