    Here is a simple summary, from MAD magazine, late ‘60’s:
    Hockey Rules are very simple:
    Any Player can skate past both Blue Lines
    Unless he doesn't have the Puck,
    In which case he can skate past his own Blue Line only
    And wait for the man with the Puck
    Who can skate past Blue Lines
    Unless another teammate
    Skate past the second Blue Line first,
    In which case the other teammate must go back
    Unless he gets the Puck,
    In which case the first teammate must go back.
    Isn't that simple?
    Do you know who wrote Hockey's "Blue Line" rules?
    The same man who wrote "The Dead Sea Scrolls".
    If you are very good
    Some day we will tell you about the three RED lines!

      João Silva it's always great to see new person join into the hockey community, I say if you love it, join your local roller hockey league, you may be discouraged at first, but after a while you'll have a great time. this will also help you with understanding the game in general more

    For some reason, the icing confused me, because I understood that icing is called on the defender touching the puck, after it crossed the goal line, I was like...what? why would you give the advantage to the opposing team now? ...lol... Took me a minute to realize, the advantage is in the opposing team getting called on icing, after a defender touches the puck, so that the defending team can go back to the opposing team face off dot and have a neat chance to a goal....haha. As soon as an attacker makes the effort to get to the puck after it crossed the 2 red lines, it's ok, because he still has to be there physically, which puts that team at a disadvantage...so it's all good. FINALLY I get it. This is a very important and interesting rule, which can make or break a game/goal chance.

    so the goalies take turns in the net during the game

    • @aquafires674
      @aquafires674 8 лет назад

      The goalies don't switch in the middle of the game, they only do that if one goalie is doing bad ( 4-0 5-0) they decide their goalie before the game :)

  • @jeffh9322
    @jeffh9322 6 лет назад

    Wow - you try to explain the basic rules but do not even know the positions. The guy on the left that you call the left wing is actually playing right wing due to the direction he is facing (the d-men are behind him). The guy on the right is actually playing left wing for the same reason. It probably would have made more sense (and been accurate) if you used the opposite end of the ice...
