Me as a European trying to figure out how tf this sport works so i can watch the super bowl tonight
Loll 😂😂 samee
4 goes to move the ball forward 10 yards. If you don't, the other side get the ball. Late but that's the essence :)
HAHHAHAHA im from asia
PLSSS
How’s england 😂😂😂😂
What I learned from this video:
1. 100yard
2. 11players
3. Points
Two goals, one for each team with optional lower tier goals that can only be done with kicks. Each team has a general who has guards and he gets information to his people via a thrown flying object or gives the info to his running assistant who then gets ownership of the Guards for about 4 seconds on average. There is a checkpoint you must reach in 4 tries or you go on the defensive end and fend off the other horde. The opponent can steal your information from your hands and even intercept it in mid air. You get to the end zone and you acquire 6 points then you can get 1 or 2 more if you choose.
@@karnliberated8891 this is too much to understand in 1 take.
I find AFL (Aussie football) more simple because all it took was 1 intro video to get me into the game.

Paul Richards true

Yup, thats why I am here, it did the job for me lol.
Paul Richards I feel bad for you
Video: American football consists of two teams of 11 players
Me: sounds simple enough
Video: In the NFL, each team has 53 players divided into three different teams who take it in turns to be on the field
Me: w h a t
I had the same reaction 💀
Think about it more like subbing in soccer. They just get subbed on and off more frequently
@@_________. So in each half or something, there's a defense vs an offense, but then special vs special? and what is special
@@front5838 “special teams “ refers to the groups on the field for these various situations:
-punting (offense punts the ball away)
-kickoffs (each half starts with a kickoff and a kickoff follows every score)
-field goals (kick attempt through uprights for 3)
- extra point (basically a short field goal only for 1 point that comes after every touchdown)
- and every thing that counters the above scenarios as well. Such as kickoff coverage/return, punt coverage/return, etc.
So, in short, special teams is everyone on the field when the “offense” and “defense” aren’t playing. They sort of “specialize” in their own things that don’t pertain to regular offense and defense.
@@rickrandomites technically the team can put any players on the field anytime of the game as long as it’s 11. To answer your last question yes they can do that.
It’s actually pretty common for a team to put there runningback or a fast recievers to catch the kicks

There's a bit of a learning curve with this sport but once you get it it's really interesting! Its like very violent chess!
That is the best way to describe it. Too add, It’s a game of chess with human pieces that try to annihilate one another while advancing into the opponent’s territory. It’s almost like a war game.

Basten охотник cool but please dont be the ones that always critize our sport. At leset respect it if you do not like it
The main objective is for one team to get the ball as far into enemy territory is possible, while preventing the other team from pushing into your territory, which would allow them to reverse the tides. Your team has to stop their runners from taking the ball into your territory to score a touchdown, and vice versa.
The goals are usually only used in kickoffs, and don’t come into play very much. It’s all about getting the ball as far behind enemy lines as possible.
The uprights are not used for kickoffs

seems interesting. but why is it called football?
Eddie Wu you use your foot to kick only. apart from that there's no footwork. only running
oh. weird.
Because it comes from association football and rugby. Not the footlong bs.
I think id rather go with the 'footlong' thing, makes more sense
The one we know as football is officially known as "Association
football". There are many variations of football. Some of them are
Association football, Rugby union, Australian rules, Gaelic football,
Gridiron football etc. All these comes under "Football" tree.
Besides football (soccer) which is just part of the culture here in the UK I have never been interested in sports but due to most of today's TV being too political and there not being much else at night worth watching I have been watching live NFL games but have no idea what is happening. I am now trying to understand all the rules and exactly how the game is played. It seems to be a lot more complex than football but videos like this help a lot. 👍
Basically, whichever team is in control of the ball, they have their offensive team on the field, and are trying to get the ball into the opposing teams end zone, where they score a touchdown for 6 point. Then they bring their special teams (kickers, etc) to try and kick the ball thru the goal posts for an extra poimt (to make a total of 7 points).
Trying to stop them on the opposing team is their defensive team. Typically big guys who try to barrel thru and take out the quarterback whos going to be throwing the ball to someone to try to make that touchdown.
There are 4 downs, (plays) & You have to move the ball at least 10 yards. If you move the ball 10 yards within those 4 down, your downs reset to 1st down. If u fail to move the ball 10 yards in 4 downs, the ball gets turned over the opponent.
But each team has different players. There is the offensive team with the quarterback who basically leads the team.
Then there are different players for defense. Usually large guys on thr line, and a few faster runners to keep up with the other teams fast runners. And try to intercept the ball. If the defense catches the ball, then it changes, and the opponents gain control of the ball......and the players switch (offensive & defensive)
And special teams are basically the kickers & such who kick the field goals.
I can’t lie. I’ve played, coached, and watched football for years and didn’t think it could be summarized in under 2 minutes 😂.
The musical sound is destructing the clarity of the speakers voice

I, an American my whole life, from a city with a renowned football team (Green Bay) who doesn't know the first thing about football, appreciate this.
As an English nerd not at all familiar with any sport I can indeed say this was much needed information
American football isn’t popular across the globe except the US for following reasons:
* It is too complicated to understand
* There is literally barely any gameplay seen. Most of a match is bombed with tv ads. And when there is action it lasts only secs and therefore can go on for hours making the game boring.
* Some players barely get involved particularly the special teams as they just come on to score a free kick
* The uniform is over the top and can be uncomfortable in hot weather
* The game is more like chess as it requires strategy and tactics
* American football is more like a fighting game than a ball game as all the players except quarterback and receivers literally wrestle each other
I can break down football. There's also a video that can help

i think thats just the beauty of american football...alot of other sports are much simpler with the rules and how the game is played...i mean if u take basketball its simple...put the ball in the hoop...dont foul the other player...easy...soccer....kick the ball in the net...dont foul the other player...easy...also other sports are alot more fast paced compared to football...and even as a football fan of all my life...i still dont understand every rule in the game...its definitely complex but its hard hitting and full of intense moments...what every person loves

This was pretty good but I feel like the rules should have been explained for those who don't know them. off-sides, false start, horse collar, fumble, pass interference, delay of game and more can make the game confusing.
Watching this for my online PE class. This is why I stick to Basketball. Even the basics are complicated smh
4 downs, on fourth down you can punt, kick a field goal or go for it, if you miss the field goal or don't get the first down, the other team gets the ball at that spot, if you have a player with possession of the ball in the endzone you score 6 and need a "field goal" for one point it another td for 2 points starting at either the three or 15

when an explanation video starts with lively music i already know it’s a write-off… imagine your first day of learning trigonometry and the teacher puts on this music before they start teaching.. 😂😂
This helped me so much since I’m trying to get into watching football to become a team manager for my school football team but I still have a few questions...
why do they have time outs?
What’s a pass interference?
What did the 1/7 points thru the u shaped thing mean?
How do you know what player is what (like quarterback, and stuff like that)
I'll do my best to answer:
1/ Each team gets 3 time outs per half, giving them opportunities to stop the clock when they wish. This is most commonly used towards the end of halves, where a team is trying to squeeze in another score before time expires, and the timeouts allow them to stop the clock from rolling.
2/ Pass interference is a foul that is given when a player interferes with a receiver's attempt to catch a forward pass (i.e. by grabbing their arms, pushing/tackling them before the ball arrives etc). The ball is then placed at the spot in which the receiver would've caught the ball had they not been interfered with, and an automatic first down is awarded. Note: this is usually called on defensive players, but can also be an offensive foul if a defender is prevented from making an interception or a wide receiver pushes the defender away to make space to catch the ball themselves.
3/ This is an "extra point" conversion, which takes place after a touchdown (worth 6 points). This is a kick from 33 yards, and if it goes through the goal posts, the extra point is awarded.
4/ This is tough to explain, as there are a lot of positions. Following this link explains it pretty well: protips.dickssportinggoods.com/sports-and-activities/football/football-101-football-positions-and-their-roles
Hope I was able to help
