made this list while i was bored the other day. remember, this is just my opinion and just because i don't like your favorite map it doesn't mean we got beef lil bro. what map would you have liked to see on this list?
off topic question, you said you technically started playing in 2019, i also did but im comparably trash, EU level 8... i guess my point is, what is the difference between us? i will say i defo wasnt consistent, big breaks now and then.. but is that seriously it?
@@ayyy2603 yeah i prac'd aswell, doesnt matter how much you prac if you aren't consistent, think of the gym. also i havent really played since csgo so idk how a csgo lvl 8 compares to a lvl 8 in cs2
@@Enriko291I think it's incredibly sad that the term "main" exists in CS. Half if the charm of the game is the variety of maps. People who only ever play 1 map need to let go of their fear.
I don't get the Office hate tbh, yes it is extremely t sided but it is fun to play. Anyways you switch sides after the first half 🤷♂️ Maybe they should add shields for ct's to the map 😂
Interesting to hear your thoughts after seeing some of your WICKED vods. Some reactions: - Love the Anubis and Nuke praise. Great layouts that reward both tactical and technical play in unique ways to what else we have in the map pool. My current favorites to both play and watch - The fact that Ancient and Mirage stand together in A-tier is even further indicative of their similar structure lol. I agree that Ancient is slightly more fun to play/watch as its less "solved" than Mirage, and the dichotomy between Donut/Snake on Ancient leads to more varied interactions than Catwalk/TopMid of Mirage - I can't stand playing Vertigo myself but I do enjoy watching professional play on it. I think Nuke's take on "stacked" sites is more interesting than the entire map being two floors as it has a greater impact on post-plant strategy. That being said, A-Ramp might be one of the most beautifully constructed spots in the map pool right now. - I'm excited to see Cache re-added if only for the rumored changes FMPONE has been experimenting with. Some of the map's flaws seem to have been acknowledged, and while some aspects (like rotate timings) may be harder to address I think new additions will make it interesting. It was always a better take on a DustII-esque map imo anyway. Having both in the map pool will be extremely unexciting and I hope Dust II's current inclusion is merely to act as a temporary placeholder under Cache is completed (coping) - Would love to see Train reintroduced only if there were changes to address utility similar to how you mentioned. Both bombsites were probably some of my favorites across all the maps, but I could easily see new smokes/mollys becoming way too overpowered with such condensed corners (see current Inferno Banana). That being said halls/alley were always pretty boring and could use a rework as well. I suspect they've been unable to find ways to work around these problems and that's why its taken so long to be added back in. It was always my favorite map to watch competitively because of the fascinating executes but I'm willing to wait if it makes the map more balanced (further coping) - Was shocked to see Overpass removed but I could only assume it came from similar worries regarding balancing. Never loved calling on this map so I'm not too sad to see it go, but it was another fun one to occasionally watch. - Inferno's faults are easy to critique on paper but in play it somehow remains incredibly balanced. Banana's foundations as such a well designed encounter keep it interesting even with the "claustrophobic" changes in the rework (after the first ~15 seconds of utility spam). The site entrances have remained strikingly parallel with each iteration of the map, which I feel gives the map its charm. The bombsites themselves do feel like a bit of downgrade from CSGO - I liked Cobbe's unique quality of being a rather _huge_ map in context to the others around the time, and I still think that it can be salvaged if it committed to some rather large changes. Maybe shifting CT spawn more towards B-site to encourage taking map control towards halls and maybe strike encounters towards the otherwise useless Garden/Picnic section? Shift T-spawn towards Mid and make A-site a rush-focussed uphill battle? I think there's some potential for another T-sided map in the pool similar to Anubis and Cobble could potentially fit it in some alternate timeline, but at this point I'm convinced Valve is done with it and I doubt we'll ever see it in the map pool again
I wouldn't hate to see a reimagined version of cobblestone reintroduced into the game, but cobble as it stood in CSGO just has no place in the game currently in my opinion. Liked your other thoughts as well, appreciate the feedback :)
This is the best tierlist video I've ever seen, been playing since 2014 myself and I completely agree on your points pertaining to cobble and train and Dust II.
I'm currently on a mission to play 100 games on each map. Currently, game 27 into Vertigo which was my most hated map. Now I think it's balanced and a good map.
Oh enjoying Cobblestone is definitely pure copium, the map was a snoozefest on both sides It's always crazy to me just how avidly the fans of the map will defend it and then when I queue it with them, the entire game devolves into B rushes or feeling your precious few seconds on this Earth dwindle away as the Ts try to go for something else and inevitably stand around unable to do anything because they didn't go for a B rush. I'd ask "Is this fun for you?", and I'd always get a "It isn't like this most of the time!" Cobblestone players are just as nostalgia blinded about their map as Office players are about their map. Aesthetically though, Cobblestone is a cool map from a pure graphic design perspective. I liked playing DM on it a lot.
100% agree on nuke. Objectively it is a really well designed map and probly the best map for pro play/high level play but personally i am not good enough to enjoy the map to its full extent
as someone who did play cobble in comp in 2015-2016, yeah it did kinda suck lol. granted, this was at the gold nova-mg level, but the strats were always incredibly lop-sided and chunks of the map never got used (like mid, the whole open area around T spawn, etc).
Honestly, my favorite maps are Nuke and Ancient. I think the quicker rotates are why I enjoy them so much. I also quite agree with Inferno, I can't quite place why Inferno sucks to play now, but I almost never queue for it anymore because I seem to always have horrible matches. Although I can't wait for Train and the others to come back since I never played much of them in the cs:go era...
So Nuke is S tier as a competitor but Overpass is D tier? The T side on overpass was fine all you needed was about 4-5 rounds to be set for CT. Overpass was great because it required teamwork and coordination for executing sites
I mean for me: S tier: Nuke and Ancient A tier: Anubis, Overpass and Train B tier: Mirage, Vertigo, Cache. C tier: Dust 2 D tier: Inferno and Cobble. Im just really, really bored of Mirage
I still enjoy Inferno, but you're right it did hit a little harder in go :D I really don't like Ancient, it's is so generic, i'd rather have some funky stuff going on in the Layout like on Nuke, Overpass or Vertigo.
What about Tuscan? Not too familiar with the strats possible on the map or if one side is favored, but towards the tail end of CSGO I really appreciated the higher quality of the map (just like Anubis). Felt like a breath of fresh air and fingers crossed it comes out in CS2 soon
i need anyone complaining about this tier list and the cheater issue to divert just a fraction of your time to complaining about the lack of maps in cs2. cheaters won't kill this game but only being able to play the same like 5 maps absolutely will. anyway, thoughts on canals?
80% of people who wants Cobble back it's because Dragon Lore. 15% it's just nostalgic. And 5% just wants to complain about map pool and demands a random map back.
i just finished my first competitive matchup on Anubis and i think it's the second worst map in the DE_ pool right now. Only Mills (the newly added map) is worse. You say it's a good thing that it's T balanced map, but CS in it's very nature should be very slightly CT balanced. CTs are forced to split at the start, while Ts are not. That is unless CTs want to play retakes, but retakes must happen in 35s (accounting for defuse time), while Ts have 1m50s to execute their strategy. Bad man with too many angles and... not even 50/50s, more like 33/33/33s or even 25/25/25/25s angles to cover. Spoken like a noob, i know, because i am one.
I agree on vertigo, many people hate it just because others do. Its super fun map with simple utility, making aim and gamesense way more impactful. In my tier list its for sure high A tier/ low S. Cobble definetly trash tier. Couldnt agree more on inferno but D is very harsh lol, in csgo S tier, in cs2 B. And goddamn how are people actually enjoying Ancient, i really dont get it. Hate the colors, angles and whole T side. Pro matches are pretty good on it but it will never reach levels of games as Inferno, new Nuke or Mirage. Dust 2 dinosaur map, very stale, boring and honestly stupid. Cache's tactical ceiling was very low, but compared to d2 it looks 2 times better haha
vertigo to awful and i agree with everything else on your list. vertigo holding b side is impossible. and it's also so annoying as a t lurking b side when an awp with top spawn can pre aim you and you have to use much utility to get him away or a teammate to support you with util. a ramp is also a util massacre. same with inferno banana.. it's really no fun playing this map.
lmao, sticking cobble in awful tier and saying "keep it respectful" excellent timing anyway, as a boomer, let me tell you why i hate you, your opinion, etc. (you're right about train, but I love it anyway)
