The major problem is that "casual" means something different in modern game parlance vs what casual means in TF2 and older online shooters. Where just playing casually meant you joined a server if a spot was open, no fuss about ranks, points, leaving mid-match, meta, etc... now Casual is used for naming the Weenie Hut Jr companion to the "Pro" ranked modes, more of a training ground where it's not as serious, but is still designed to have a ladder and progression to get players invested and give them a taste of Competitive. Personally I prefer games where playing the objective is the focus, but I preferred the more natural method Valve initially started with by designing each class to be more rewarding to play if you fulfilled their roles in competing for the objective. It meant that even in the most disorganized teams, unless the player was just throwing and going friendly, if they were trying to play their class well then they likely would be contributing to the match and by proxy their team. The more "structured" way of doing it with ranking systems is rather inorganic in comparison and is more of a "meta" way to incentivize player performance with external rewards rather than through enjoyment of the system itself pushing the player forward.

yeah, also may i just say, you can't play seriously because 5/10 times you'll get stomped, and you can't play friendly because you get people who take things way too seriously, try to kick friendlies on their team, focus friendlies on the enemy team, and just don't respect other human opinions. The whole “FREE ITEMS FOR PLAYING” thing is what prevented me from playing. I don’t trust that at all. I remember being told multiple times, “If you aren’t paying for the product, you are the product”.
Its a lie, you will NEVER get a hat from faceit because it takes an inhuman amount of grinding, you get 500 points for healing 800 THOUSAND health, the cheapest hat on faceit store? 11k points. Oh and you have to pay for premium to do a contract that gives you an actual good amount of faceit points, but at that point you couldve just bought the hat.
Thats exactly what I thought when I saw that for myself. I wanted someone to explain to me how they got the money for all of those items. Well, now I know.
i asked everyone what the catch was. items like that always have a catch. people never told me what it was. if i don't know the contract, i am not going to sign

@@sargentbaco9182 it's not wrong to have been hyped. Im just thankful zesty spoke up because I had been too hyped to realize I was having a terrible time playing faceit.
The reason why I think FACEIT decided to make this whole thing is because of how desperate people are hoping to god that TF2 will live. I'm sure they know that this is the perfect time to get into the TF2 scene since there is little to no competition at the moment. And since TF2 is in such a terrible state, its a perfect opportunity to put in this project. Now that the whole project is here people are happy about the fact that its something that looks promising and that it'll save TF2, especially with big names like Big Joey, B4nny, Solar Light, and Uncle Dane, how could it possibly be bad? Thats the problem though. From what I've seen it seems to be extremely manipulative from what FACEIT has been doing the past week, especially with them, and the ones associated with FACEIT, changing the narrative from "this is the new casual" to "its a new experience". But hey I'm just one guy though.
just as you i am just a guy. never liked the whole comp/tryhard culture and seeing them baiting normal, casual players into it like we didn't know any better (which is pretty much their attitude towards casuals ie B4nny) only makes me hate that environment even more, they ruined Quickplay for everyone and still do not use the goddamn thing they were pushing for.
I don't think Uncle Dane was sponsored. He made no video about it, and his tweets were pretty neutral. He liked faceit, but understood that it is competitive, and not everyone will like it.
@@illseeyaonthedarksideofthemoon Because some are trustworthy. Not all of them though. Just like real people. Woah, it's almost like YTers are people too.
I actyally myself was tricked it-to thinking that his is "casual" mode Yeah, i would like it to actually be casual, but stuff they made it's not that bad. It is more similar to stuff you see on some specific community servers, where people doesn't necessary trying hard all the time and they have some kind of team coordination and maybe they care about it a bit more overall. You also still can get away with doing weird strategies, like fat souting They also stated thay want to make "quickplay" version of matchmaking, that copies "rules" from tf2's quickplay They also did send us some merch (t-shits, bags, shorts and watter bottles) and they gave us year of premium sub. But we never told we gonna get these so it's just a gratituge i guess
It can be a weird mix between casual experience (like silly strategies) in a competitive setting (except for the amount of players). They should be clear in the start wich is their main issue with the public. FaceIt and their services are just an option to play, but not the solution TF2 need.
Your harsh, rip-it-off-quick opinions are so valuable. You keep it real. I really hope you don’t let people who don’t appreciate them bully you into no longer being so critical.
yeah, there was a lot of pushback from shills before today, sensitive people who gets triggered as soon as you point out faceit casual is too competitive, mocking you telling you that "maybe you consider casual playing dumb for an hour without as much as trying to capture once"
Zesty blames competitive players for meet your match and it’s failures, which is far from correct. Not all his opinions are valuable. He’s also really peddling this shit that the anti-cheat is doing suspicious things on your computer .... and he’s trying to theorycraft that faceit is buying up influencers when all the influencers have said they are not being paid. His proof? “Faceit sent some shirts and bags to influencers” He’s ALSO projecting that faceit doesn’t care about TF2. He’s full of shit.
This aged perfectly because what you said absolutely happened. Face-It crashed and burned and no one is talking about it anymore. After a few months of you trashing Face-It, many RUclipsrs like SpikeyMikey and TooftyTV came out and said they were paid to advertise Face-It and they would get rewards for it. But their actual opinion about Face-It was much similar to your opinion. And it’s Twitter account is just an account that posts TF2 memes. So it’s basically Zealot but if it was a Twitter account. Honest to god I absolutely love your content and how you present your opinions. You are brutally honest and you have facts to back up what you say. You have to be brutally honest with something like this in order to get it fixed but Face-It only cared about making money. They picked TF2 because it’s a dying game and they know it’s community wanted something to make the game better. You saw this before many other people did
Wait, faceit anti cheat looks into your reports you've gotten on steam? You already know bots in causal are gonna spam report on every player they come across.
The big thing that turns me off from faceit is their anti cheat, though not like I'd play it. (Or can cuz my hard drives fucked hehe) I wouldn't mind an option of play that was meant to be more "serious". And I like trying my ass off in games but God Damn I don't need a system to tell me I suck and have it tacked onto a public profile whenever I decide to goof off a little bit or even decide to not play my main(s), having that type of system turns me off from a game.
@@joedoe920 If I get flagged I am forced to, or else I can't play, so id rather not waste my time on the service or support a service like that if I can help it.
Well it's kind of the point of a "tryhard" tf2 experience, getting called shit isn't a big problem, I hope they add an option to make it private doe. My only issue here personally is the anti cheat
If you want non bot, RNG, or auto balance server that doesn’t force the players to play as serious and engaged as possible but still encourages teams to do teamwork and unique fun play styles on the objective instead of screwing around pretending it’s a death match server..... then yeah it doesn’t exist BUT the closest thing I know of that I’ve been playing for basically most of time on TF2 now Is uncletopia community servers. If you don’t know what it is it’s basically face it servers minus penalties, stopwatch(kind of a mixed bag for me) or rankings making it ironically more of a casual experience than face it servers are. And unlike other vanilla servers they’re actually regularly filled so if you want a more “serious” tf2 experience I highly recommend it.
a literal anomaly, a game with no developers, a game that stands out of sheer love and desperation from it's playerbase, but a playerbase so starved of hope and hurt by the time that generates trust issues while also clinging to every bit of promise anyone makes them. it is just matter of time until this community breaks down for good and god knows what will happen then.

With the internet as it is now, anything that's hyped up will NEVER reach the peak that a majority (or at least more than half) of people thought it would. To comment on a few of your points: 1) I think Faceit were genuinely trying to make a casual alternative but just failed. This is why they are remarking the experience. They under estimated how difficult it would be to recreate that exact feel of casual TF2. 2) I can only speak for myself but as someone who received a gift from Faceit, I had no idea I was going to receive anything until after I had been involved for a long time and until after I made a video about it. (And none of the perks I received would be anywhere near enough to buy my time but again that's just speaking for me, I'm an old boomer with a job.) 3) I think the other content creators are just excited to have something new come to TF2. Being involved early certainly makes them a little biased but there is nothing sinister going on from what I can tell. It's just clever gorilla marketing to get content creators feedback early and to get them excited. Plus I think it also makes the end experience better. It may have been even less like casual without their input! :) 4) Faceit is absolutely just a business and profit is always going to be their priority but the team working on this do seem to care and want to make this work. The better the experience is for the players, the better it is for them as a business! Btw I've only played 2 matches on Faceit as I've been so busy recently so I can only speak about my experience leading up to its launch D: Anyway, take care dude! Yeah, they should add a vote to start the match and leave a bot in it's place until the player joins, that way people that just want to play won't have to re-queue and gives more time to the ones still joining.
This video aged pretty well, since faceit was just trying to make money and obtain user's data. People were absolutely hyped before it was released, but after some time, it died.
Zesty you are the voice of the common man. That's not something anyone else has. Keep doing what you're doing. Faceit isn't fun for casual players and it seems like you're the only one with the platform and the balls to speak on it.

I hope they can improve on this in the future! Great vid btw!
And the fact that the guy in the screen at the end says "he seriously considered talking to me" sounds a lot like he would have slipped something in his drink just to make Zetsy tell us the same things every one sponsoring Faceit is going for
I played on faceit for about a week. It was nice seeing less bots and cheaters, but they are still there. It definitely wasn't casual. It was... competitive lite, if you will. Every map is stopwatch mode, friendlies are mostly shunned, there's a big push to win the game and do it quickly. It's not for me, but for those that enjoy that kind of environment, go for it. Just... avoid downloading their client if you can. It gets messy trying to get rid of it once you want to.

Fuck faceit. Im never installing that crap.
Main reason i uninstalled
All in all faceit is good it's an alternative to getting a good game without random crits and cheators.

He got so much shit for it, but I’m the end, zesty was always right.
I actyally myself was tricked it-to thinking that his is "casual" mode
Yeah, i would like it to actually be casual, but stuff they made it's not that bad.
It is more similar to stuff you see on some specific community servers, where people doesn't necessary trying hard all the time and they have some kind of team coordination and maybe they care about it a bit more overall. You also still can get away with doing weird strategies, like fat souting
They also stated thay want to make "quickplay" version of matchmaking, that copies "rules" from tf2's quickplay
They also did send us some merch (t-shits, bags, shorts and watter bottles) and they gave us year of premium sub.
But we never told we gonna get these so it's just a gratituge i guess
Well, if they do introduce an actual Casual mode, I think that would be enough to consider Faceit alright. For now, meh.
It can be a weird mix between casual experience (like silly strategies) in a competitive setting (except for the amount of players).
They should be clear in the start wich is their main issue with the public.
FaceIt and their services are just an option to play, but not the solution TF2 need.

TF2 is one of those games that the community just breaks as much as they maintain it.
a literal anomaly, a game with no developers, a game that stands out of sheer love and desperation from it's playerbase, but a playerbase so starved of hope and hurt by the time that generates trust issues while also clinging to every bit of promise anyone makes them. it is just matter of time until this community breaks down for good and god knows what will happen then.

With the internet as it is now, anything that's hyped up will NEVER reach the peak that a majority (or at least more than half) of people thought it would. Also, because we live in a shitty capitalist society where it doesn't matter how shit your product is on release (Cyberpunk being delayed for good reasons, then forced to release in a broken state) as long as you make profit. I also see Apex Legends as a reverse of this idea. No hype, no buildup. A slient release, that cranked out a kickass game.
Probably because it’s a subjective thing and a LOT of people actually like it... zesty isn’t the only person who doesn’t like it but from the talk surrounding it he is in a minority. Not that that invalidates his points but it’s entirely a subjective thing.
To comment on a few of your points:
1) I think Faceit were genuinely trying to make a casual alternative but just failed.
(And none of the perks I received would be anywhere near enough to buy my time but again that's just speaking for me, I'm an old boomer with a job.)
3) I think the other content creators are just excited to have something new come to TF2. Being involved early certainly makes them a little biased but there is nothing sinister going on from what I can tell. It's just clever gorilla marketing to get content creators feedback early and to get them excited. Plus I think it also makes the end experience better. It may have been even less like casual without their input! :)
4) Faceit is absolutely just a business and profit is always going to be their priority but the team working on this do seem to care and want to make this work. The better the experience is for the players, the better it is for them as a business!
Btw I've only played 2 matches on Faceit as I've been so busy recently so I can only speak about my experience leading up to its launch D:

@@TieflingInAJar Wow, companies that worked with Valve are very trustworthy until they aren't, you really got him there buddy. Worked out really well for everyone who happily installed the ESEA client before the bitcoin mining scandal. Bet you would've been first in line to call someone cautious about that client a stupid idiot too, eh?
After all, people are just big dum dums for being distrusting of software that collects data and monitors their system, especially when it comes with such a vague TOS.
@@TieflingInAJar at the point where even"benevolent" governments do illegal medical experiments on their citisens no company or organisation is to be trusted.
@@TieflingInAJar Chiquita, Nike and most other big companies are also trusted yet are in to much more shady human rights abuses and borderline war crimes.
faceit using scrap for their things would probably explain why scrap hasn't had many unusuals lately
one of his greatest videos of his chanel
Quite honestly seeing the positive vids about faceit, I noticed a lot of the things you brought up here and in the last video. A lot of things didn't sit right in my gut and you said them all out loud.
Faceit definitely lost me when I discovered that you where PUNISHED for leaving a match!
honestly i feel like faceits unintentionally tearing down the tf2 community with how split its making everyone
this will be the end of 2fort
oh shit, a follow-up? you spoil us
Im personally quite enjoying FaceIt! It’s nice having no bots, higher skill ceilings and people actively using voice-chat, but thats about where the positives end. I doubt that FaceIt will make many changes, so it’s basically Valve’s matchmaking all over again, where it’s in charge of the community to fix it!
When people ask what class to play, or apologize for not doing well, I always let them know that the ultimate goal is to just have fun, and play what they enjoy.
If I could get anyone else’s thoughts that’d be lovely.
The blocked message at the end is from Big Joey, King clown of the faceit circus
How do you know?

Kind of surprised it wasn't Solar he was really vocal and active in there for the short time I was in.
Just give your feedback people. They have already mentioned they might make some seperate more casual servers where you can join midmatch and leave without penalty and so on. If they make the changes people are requesting , good. If not give feedback and dont play. simple as that . I myself enjoy the current servers. But I want even super casual players to be happy.
There where some things they weren’t clear about. They said they might add some servers for “super casual players” and it sounded like their might be a way to not show your stats for some degree. Can someone elaborate?
In Tyler McV video where he supposedly talked with a Faceit person, they said the stats will stay if I'm not mistaken, and that's one of the big red flags that to me scream competitive and not casual.
What do the bloody stats matter? Jesus. You are all acting like you aren't aware thst FaceIt is a platfrom with multiple games. Yeah, it makes sense to change their software just so that a snowflakie fanbase doesn't see intimidating stats. This is bullshit. If you don't care about stats, do what is do...ingore them
@@leandrogoslean889 Why exactly? Casual already has a ranking system and no one is really bitching or tryhrding for it
@@2dollarchickenwings689 Casual has no ranking system that'a just a medal that tells you how much you play against BOTs

TF2 had the entire Love & War update making it casual, funny, and hilarious, getting purposefully punished for losing the match because you wanted to have fun giving sandvich’s and dancing with a bird head isn’t
They took the Love out of the War
gotta love that message at the end
Zesty should have talked to me before making that video

I might be bias but there’s a half decent chance that’s a Tyler McVicker message

i know that message, it was from big joey.
saw it on a /vg/ thread for tf2 uncensored.
the most tyler did was ask zesty for his opinions of faceit over twitter so that he could forward it to their team.
Zesty Jesus: *talking about faceit*

My thoughts on FACEIT:
or
Just FACEIT, there's some issues with FACEIT.
I just want to play in a non competitive pub to improve. I can't improve when every other enemy player as 1000+ hours and I just want to have fun. I got duped, I just want to play casual without bots, random crits, random bullet spread. I got fucked and I want a real casual experience.
Use Uncle Dane's servers.
Wow this sounds lile me when i want to casually play an arena fps where everyone has to play competitivly
Heh
Thank you for being the realist tf2 creator. I just came from swipez video and i felt like "this feels like shilling. Something is right"
I don't think Faceit will save tf2, I don't think it will bring any new players to the game either. I don't wanna join Upward, Badwater, and Dustbowl servers to either stomp or to be stomped on. It's just ridiculous that RUclipsrs hyped this up so much just like Creators.tf. It just doesn't work.
The faceit experience:
join game on upward
on defense absolutely destroying the enemy team they don't even push the first point
switched to offence
during setup my whole team said "this isn't fun"
I left
The regular comp mode is less competitive than faceit
5:06 Not cool dude I was eating.
mmmm strong voice over big booba women speaks about bad service i enjoy i like
I hope that big joey pedals back on his opinion, i don't want his reputation to get muddy to backup face it
Seems like majority of the community is gonna be pissed
2:00 no it absolutely is malware.
These third party launchers requiring extra software always malware, key logging, or running mining ops.
Their entire server operations help justify this and why they block shit like shadowplay(nvidia can detect it and throttle it), punish leaving so badly(break the calc).
Their entire system looks like a mining op.
Can't wait the next video to start with a "Sorry for what?"
Oh boy time to wait for wamo to make 7 videos about how faceit doesnt suck and why you should watch his same fucking video 7 more times
Holy shit I just realized. I use some anime mods for my crit sounds(the starykrow ones) and that might have marked me as suspicious. HAHAHAHA it thought anime was cheats HAHAHA
"We've detected degeneracy on your account, please download our impossible to uninstall Anti-Cheat system"
Faceit is unbelievably shady. I thought I had deleted the application, but it still appeared whenever I launched tf2. I had to manually find some weird file and delete it, which took like ten minutes. Now I have to submit a ticket just to delete my account, which will take up to 48 hours. Thank god you made this video, I probably would have had this weird shit on my computer still.
now that i know someone else shares my feelings i dont have to feel bad about not liking faceit. yes i am that fragile and easily swayed
TF2 has something Overwatch and CSGO do not, and that is Absolute Freedom.
It does really suck that they hyped this up for it to be something completely different. however, I do find it to be almost on par with regular casual. I have had plenty of lobbies where my whole team just dicks around and just has goofy fun like it was a casual server with a funny timer in the top left. Lastly the rank punishment for losing isn't really a big deal, the prizes are so hilariously unachievable I have yet to come across anyone that was incentivized to win because of the prizes or rank.
The only things TF2 absolutely needed was an actually decent anti-cheat and a revampes competitive and we got this
Zesty is a tftuber who has integrity and gives us the hard truth and it’s totally fair with the points he is making.
All I can say is that I feel like I was blinded by the hype. I'm uninstalling everything that relates to FACEIT tomorrow but man... Now I get why whenever I Alt + Tab from TF2, the game freezes for like 5 seconds ever since I got the client and I have a somewhat decent PC, so no justification besides it being FACEIT
