Love this guy! Nice review. Also digging his Rage Against the Machine shirt and is that a Doxa he's wearing? If so,I approve, I'm a big fan. Love these speakers and after much research I think I am going to buy. I already own the Silver 100 7G in black and they are GREAT! I use them in a separate system. .
I have had these for a year now, paired with Cambridge CXA 81 and Emotiva ERC 4 CD player. I’m in my happy “no upgrade needed for a while” place with these speakers. I tried PSB Imagine X2Ts before these and they’re great but not a keeper like the Monitor Audios. Like you I might consider an amp upgrade at some point - probably to seperate pre/power amps - but it’s absolutely not necessary to do that. These are great for all kinds of music and will keep me happy for years to come.
Ya they were a great buy. I happened to pick them up only a few months old at almost half off. It was a no brainer. I’ve since upgraded to the Rotel RA-1572Mkii. More bloom, slightly better base. But the high end…wow!! More detail and clarity. Went from 65W per to 120. But as u said they do well with almost anything.
Appreciate the detailed "listening man's " review. Just purchased a pair of Silver 500 7G's along with the Silver C350 Gen 6 Center Channel. Have a new Anthem MCA 325 Gen 2 power amp that I will connect to a Marantz SR7015 AV and can't wait to hear how these puppies sound!
Any update on your 500 7G impressions? I’m also looking at Marantz and Arendal 1723 towers but like the looks of these better. Unfortunately I can’t audition either in my area. I was almost buying a Sonus Faber Amati set until I realized just couldn’t justify the price. Although, the Amatis driven by even more expensive gear were the best to my ear that I’ve ever heard and the most beautiful speakers I’ve seen. Anyway, back to reality, just would like your long term impressions and how they paired with the Marantz or if you amped them separately.
i agree...just got these a few hours ago and once I had these in place I fired them up and immediately was like "oh yeah these sound good" I also had the energy's RC series and that was definitely a warm speaker but a good one...
Nice no nonsense review. If I am correct from your comments, it would be good to use a subwoofer if you want some real bass to compliment these speakers? They definitely have a very nice modern look to them.
I’d say only if you’re a bass head would you need a sub. They are balanced very well. It depends on the source, music, movie. I thought they were a tad bass shy until I heard music recorded with prominent bass. Then I was like wow, no sub needed. They just accurately portray however the music is recorded.
Did you feel like the Vocals on these came much more forward compared to the 6G ? Because that was my impression, just solely on (good quality) recordings on RUclips.
Don't these need an amp with 250W per channel ? I'm not an Audiophile but I'm trying to learn and understand. I'm looking at going for the 300 7G. I heard Audiolabs 6000 Play and Cambridge Audio and Yamaha go very well with Monitor Audio.
250? No way. Anything 100 W or over is ideal but my 65W run them well. I’d like to upgrade to higher output but all in good time. These are easy to run.
@@radical111the specs of the speaker state that the recommendation from Monitor audio is 80-250W (!!!) What amp and how much power (W) did you (or anyone) use for best results?
@@MasterofpuppetsBS I went from 60W to 120W. Bass was slightly more extended but the highs were noticeably more detailed. I feel 100W and up would be ideal.
@@ethann9999 no I got them privately. He was selling them after only a few months. He wanted a quick sale so they went almost half off! I wanted the light ash colour but at that $$ I’m not complaining!
Great review but you need to stop saying "ahm" all the time ;-) I'm seriously considering these but worry they might be a bit of overkill in my measly 12 X 12 foot room.

...and love the Keith Jarrett Koln Concert feature LP. I still have my original issue from 1975,...plus other, CD and such. Still a masterpiece!

I like Monitor Audio 100 Silver 7g stand mount speakers.
Monitor Audio sounds great paired with Arcam Stereo Amps
Thanks for the reviews. Will be getting the silver 300 soon. I have a middle size room so I suspect the 500 maybe too much for my room. Cheers.
How is the 300 going in your average room? Is there a lack or excess of bass?

bet they sound unbelievable now that they're broke in eh
Nise, i have the same only the 6g. You really naild it with your review. They are really super.

Ya I did. It wasn’t night n day but the smaller mids help. Certainly an improvement.

sat, what turntable is that?
Rega. New P3 in red. 🤘🏻🤘🏻
May I know what speakers cable do you use?
It’s called Legend Audio off EBay. Custom made. Has worked great for me. Mine are bi wired
How suitable with Denon avr x3800h?
Not sure to be honest. They are very easy to drive so most units 60W and above should be sufficient.
What is the difference between 6G & 7G? thanks
Bass response is the most prominent difference. If your room set up is on the smaller side the 6 would be fine I think.
