I always was a fan of how B&W speakers look but after listening to this i really love the Monitor Audio sound, will have to start saving up for those M.A♥️
Thanks for your excellent comparison. Based on your video I went and listened to the MA Silver 300 7G and compared them to some other speakers. I have now bought them and they will arrive in a couple of days. Thanks again for your help.
Monitor audio definitely! I went to the hifi store and listened to them my self, and this is perfect for detailed and clear parts. The B&W just sound like they have a sub connected with the volume sett too high. no balance. And also the Monitor gets better if you crank up the volume. Now combine this with a sub with correct volume to at-chive the low ends it will be more perfect I think.
I bought the previous 6G silver 100s and c150 last November at a great end of life deal. Also prefer Monitor Audios more neutral sound over Bowers, which sounds a bit artificial to me.
I preferred the monitor audio after turning up the volume on my end. Looking at the frequency measurements for bowers you can really hear the dip in midrange / lower treble. I would have a guess the monitor audio measures way more neutral
Great comparison chum, thank you. I thought the M/A sounded far more musical than the B/W though the B/W had more bass, they sounded a little muddy to my ears. Anyway, about 1 hour ago I pulled the trigger on a pair of the M/A in walnut veneer so hopefully they'll arrive afore the weekend. BTW in the video the left hand speaker looked much wider than the right hand speaker....perhaps filmed at an angle? Thanks for the video.
Thanks for the detailed review! Awsome job! Polk R400 or Monitor audio silver c250 7g? If you havent heard MA Silver center could you please tell me Polk R00 or Monitor audio silver 500 7g?
The B&W sounder louder to me with more tonal variation and inner detail, especially on the instruments. But to be truthful it also sounded somewhat like room or placement effects. The B&W sounded like it added a bit of something to the music that was not entirely truthful, but more fun. The Monitor definitely sounded more sat upon, less lively, but overall it is difficult to say.
Remeber i have all sorts of brands and i change them as the latest comes in. So for now its the new range of Klipsch till the next new range comes in of what ever brand. But i do prefer the RP range of the MA Silver yes.
I am getting extremely good sound with a set of MA Gold 200 5G with a Yamaha A2A cinema receiver streaming Tidal from the amp. I am puzzled by the gentleman's comment that MA cannot sound good with receivers. My main system is very high end. Big monos, top dac, dead quiet pre and almost top of the range speakers from a German manufacturer. I have a pretty good idea about sound quality. I am hearing a very enjoyable sound with the MA Gold 200 G5 and A2A receiver. Plenty of bass and extremely good clarity. It compares very favourably with a system in which the Dac alone is near 20k GBP. I think the manufacturer has raised the price now. The MAs are an outgoing model so I got them discounted for use in my study. The A2A is not expensive at all. A customer return for only 600 GBP. I was building a cheap system for my study. I was expecting a mediocre slighty muddy sound but it's very good and good enough for most people. How much more does my 20k DAC really achieve through 30k speakers? It's got me thinking. Yes the sound is better. Wider, deeper, taller, very 3 D. The cheaper system does all that too, but to a lesser degree at a huge price difference. Maybe high end is overpriced? I like to be honest and save people money. And please dont fall for expensive mains cables.....they do zero. I have messed around with hifi for decades and that has to be the biggest lie in the hifi industry. I have personally done my own blind test with the help of a friend to establish if i could pick out a 3k mains cable stacked against a cable that is supplied in budget and high end equipment. It was impossible to select the cable. They just sounded no different. Even manufacturers have failed to select their own cables and subsequent lame excuses given for that. Check out youtube for that. Its there.
@@user-tk7kz1fl2r yes its not always about price but what sounds good to you. Going up does sound better but not always to the amount that you put into it. I do agree on the cables, just get a good OFC cable and no need to go all out on those.
Wenn it comes to finish the german factory Nubert is comparable to Monitor Audio. Also the swedish factory XTZ has exzellent finish quality but both Nubert and XTZ are extremely neutral with many people dont like. I like neutral spekers which have no sounding.
While the differences in SQ between the MA and B&W are easy enough to hear, the reviewer fails to account for the differences in room placement and sensitivity. The B&Ws are clearly closer to the room sidewall, and so will have more LF loading. They are also farther apart than the MAs. which will impact soundstage and imaging. The reviewer should have swapped positions on one side so that the room impacts , the acoustical loadings were equivalent. The rated sensitivities are close, but ideally the A/B switch should allow line-level trimming so output levels were matched. Back in the day HiFi stores sound room speaker switchers had that ability, and while it was often abused, when accurately calibrated (we used FM Interstation noise, rolled off the bass and treble controls, then used a Radio Shack sound level meter to measure) it was very revealing.

Also the B&W have no real deep bass.

The bowers are obviously more efficient. In fairness they should be level matched otherwise the B&W will subjectively win.
Yes this was a problem but on some song the Monitor was a clear winner. But these songs i could not put on youtube.

Actually the BW are more neutral the monitors are very lively up top.

@@jayroland9481 thank you. This was so long ago i cant even remember but they would have been lined up center, must be the video angle.

Did replay on the other post but Polk all day long!
@@homecinemaking397 thanks 😊
They changed something in sound, betwin generations?

We sat for a hour today going back and forth and we cant decide. Both bring something different to the table.
I notice you have Klipsch now do you prefer them over MA?

Nice comparison! Monitor Audi night and day!
How would these run/play on a Denon AVR-X4500H Av receiver (5.1.2 Atmos setup)
They will work but i would feed them more power to make them shine👌

You are a giant man.
It is okey for home Theater for only movies

This was raised and we did this with minimal effect.
Monitor puts the instruments in rhe room.
While the b&w sounds very much in a box....
Bowers are clearly behind in quality of sound here.
It is model 7G, not G7.
Monitor is more clear on the guitars and drums.
none
M.A better
