  • Sometimes its a blessing in disguise, when the check engine light bulb burns out and no more troublesome reminders of how old your car is....however, I do like to know what's going on and if things are good or bad, so it would be nice to see if the light is one without having to check for codes.
Its a pretty simple procedure, please enjoy. If you don't have a spare or can't get one, try using a lesser used bulb to make the fix.

I know, it kinda caught me by surprise after going on for such long time without a check engine lamp, so I had to check and there is was.

I think PC195 or maybe 73. I'd just move them around.

A surprisingly simple job, but the annoyance of all the clips in the dash means I hope I won't have to deal with this myself in any of my automotive adventures.

We can always hope for the best. I've had issues with the climate control system and ignition wiring and such that it all comes off pretty easy now...but does rattle on gravel roads.

Here in New York we leave that check engine light burnt out so that the inspector doesn't bother to scan the car's error codes. I'm sick of paying for BS repairs when we have to get our cars inspected every 12 months...

Me too, when I was in Maine it really sucked. Here they only inspect them once and if you keep your insurance, you’re good. If you buy a car and it’s over 12, you need an inspection, that’s about it.

@@Turbo231 makes sense. New York is just crooked as shit. It's like our cigarette taxes as well. When they tax you about $5 each pack or even alcohol and claim that they are the good guys to "promote good health by deterrence" but in reality it is just another way to tax someone driven by an addiction. They talk up and down about weening people off smoking by charging them an arm and a leg but if it was about health and safety they would just ban them all together like the rest of our shit.
