Seems like this car is missing the upper weather stripping towards the windshield which is what keeps the filter dry

There is a lower bit it is missing that diverts water away from the filter.

Ha ha, you got me feeling guilty about not changing mine in the past few years. The mice should be happy, to have a new clean bed.

I’m hoping with the car out of storage they can find a happier home somewhere else.

I miss my 02 grand Prix gt 😂 I have an 02 civic right now and though it was fun to learn a new skill (standard transmission) I still miss that 3.8 bulletproof engine

Yeah, the body is starting to rot away but I faith in the drivetrain.

Thanks man. I'm gonna change mine. My car is so dusty behind the doors. Dash, I feel like the previous owner was such slob. Back carpet is stained. Just dust everywhere. I knew I could clean it but the guy seemed to have never cleaned it. I cleaned the windows and the paper towel was disgusting.

My 2000 cowling is in one piece, meaning both wipers need to come off. Guess they changed that, and that's good, because it's just extra work for nothing. Couldn't find the filter at Autozone or O.reilly auto either. Their systems said the car doesn't have one. lol

I never thought it did, it’s not documented well.

Pontiac didnt install them OEM so they aren't listed. Ask for one for a Buick Regal.

@@independentfool Good info, thanks. The car has been sold, but someone else may benefit from your knowledge.

That is certainly one way to do it!

This has added a whole new dimension of GM jack fuckery. I wish I'd never tried to open this piece, because now I'm on a goose chase for another problem.

It is not easy to access that’s for sure, and I only heard a rumour that air filters existed in these models.

@@Turbo231 like yours, the air filter was just AWOL when I looked inside. However, I found a curious hatch that hinges over the fan intake line a coal shoot. Wtf is that? A weather shield? If so, why does it move out of the way?

I don’t think these came with one from the factory

    • @Turbo231

Apparently they did, or at least one of the W-Bodies did. Digging around the internet, they are fairly common.

In my opinion I agree with you and not.Plus is u will get fresh air. Bad think u reduce air flow, second is u will be have leaks after dismount all gaskets and put them up...If u regular use the fan u will never have a dust from the fan because is 20 years project of cars that they never expect to have cabin filter...In conclusion this modification is not worth it..To many things to loose as performance and leaks than have fresh air when usually I use ac or windows open...

Cool. It’s not a modification, it’s factory. GM wanted an air filter in there, would have been handy to know it existed. I live in a super dusty area and in my pickup there are dirt prints up the windows from the vents, so having a filter is fantastic. GM cars are designed with flow through ventilation anyways, regardless of filter.

I check models from 2007 and u right it spouse to be filter there...Why 2002 and older models don't have, that is a good question...Good luck with your Pontiac...

@@adrianhenryk5965 I was told by the parts stores my 2000 didn't use one, and yet the box is there. I went online and found one.
