Wife and I digging into the two dis tracks that surrounded that summer of 2018. Good times. Enjoy! Видеоклипы
My wife and I watched the Mallory Brothers reaction to both of these tracks tonight (after seeing the comments), and you all are right! We missed soooooooo many references! Holy shit 🙄
Thanks for putting up with our ignorance on this lol
😂😂 do kendrick the heart part 4 for another great diss track
Yeah the Heart Part IV is Kendrick coming at mainly Big Sean and Drake
Need to do the LIL B diss track against Joe Budden, LIL B put the track out in 10 minutes after Joe Budden dissed him on twitter. Fastest diss track release ever
Bob u probably won’t see this but u have to see Kanye’s diss track in this beef, called lift yourself, the beat me made for drake and took back from him to be petty please for the love of God react to this on the channel
@@tylerward3446 shit he should hear the original version of that song wit andre
as soon as she said “ i don’t trust the annotations” i was like damn i see why they’re together she’s just like him
I think you guys should’ve used the annotations a lot more throughout the video, the OVO bar was one of the biggest disses of Pusha’s track and it completely flew over your heads
💯
well tbf they really are not that deep into the producing side of rap
OVO 40 hunched over like he 80

Yeah sometimes the annotations are super helpful lol
@@jakaribullock257 who really gives af bro it was just some lyric related to being a gangster
Bob, u gotta let ur wife click the annotations 😭😭. So much went over ya'll heads that would have made both tracks hit much harder
18:24 💀💀💀💀😂😂😂😂😂
I don't understand why you dont like reading the annotations lol. Especially on disa tracks because you will need to understand references. You cant really judge them if you miss the disses
yeah it makes sense to disregard a lot of the dumb annotations, but if you have 0 clue what the line means, what the hell lol
Yeah, that's totally my fault. I'm so used to doing videos with lyrics where I try to figure it out on my own, but that obviously doesn't work with a dis track like this
@@bobthepoppop you're good man. Music isn't hieroglyphics. We all like your reactions here.
The disses at the start of story of addidon about drake’s dad leaving him and his mom being alone weren’t just thrown in there. Pusha wanted to show how Drake did the same thing that his dad did.
Calling the disstrack brutal is an understatement.
The beat itself is a bar. If you look at the artwork for this song, it's Drake, a Black man, in Blackface. Drake did it for a photoshoot for a clothing line. The beat for this song is Jay-Z's "The Story of OJ" (another play on the title of this song "The Story of Adidon, which is a spin on Adonis, the name of Drake's son and the alleged way he was gonna unvail said child to the world with a collaboration with Adidas, hence Adi-don'is). Jay-Z references OJ saying that he himself wasn't a Black man but only identified as OJ like his skin didn't matter. Push tied that into the song with lines like ".. not Black enough,...fro wouldn't nap enough" etc.
Everything about the song was perfectly calculated
Flew over heads 😂

Oh my god this video is gonna be crazy, The Story Of Adidon is one of the best disses of all time. Duppy Freestyle was good too but it was massively overshadowed by the onslaught that commenced afterwards.
duppy had better flow, adidon was the better diss
literally. i say this everytime. Both diss tracks are AMAZING. Pusha obviously got the win, but I would’ve loved to see this go on for at least 1 more track for each
I love both too. Duppy Freestyle reworking the Infrared title, snatching a flow/pocket from Infrared before the Quentin Miller name drop, etc.
A lot of the nuance in both of these tracks went over your head (as is to be expected going in blind as y'all did tbh) beef tracks typically are laden with a lot of 'insider' information you would only know if you follow the artist histories alongside their music, I'm sure there are videos breaking down each track thoough that you can find on youtube. do a do over on these tracks with more information and reading the annotations! then do nas vs jay-z and 2pac vs biggie, i think that would be dope.
P.S this video from Dead End Hip-Hop might be worth a watch ruclips.net/video/-RvxOz3cExI/видео.html

There’s so many little details that even the biggest hip hop fans miss in Story of Addidon. Like using the Story of OJ beat after the “tap dance for crackers and sing mammy” in Infrared. And the fact that Pusha is not just insulting Drakes parents but the fact that he’s saying Drake is basically the same way his dad was and is treating his baby mama the way Drakes dad treated his mom.
Also the Story of Adidon cover and the Story of OJ sample saying "my skin is black" while Pusha psycho-analyzing Drake's lack of mention about racial issues in his music.
Nah it's not so much about being a big hip hop fan as it is being a fan of specific people. Because if you didn't listen to 4:44 then that's going to fly over your head. If you weren't rocking with good music and The saga between ye and Drake (40) and push and Wayne you're gonna be lost but I get what you mean.
@@traplover6357 Infrared is one of the most overlooked disses ever, the way Pusha "exposed" drake as being a popstar disguised as a rapper just for the masses to eat up, and saying I'ma just let the puppet show go on cuz I know what people ACTUALLY wanna see, so good

This was wildly frustrating, but entertaining nonetheless😂 keep ‘em coming, Bob!

@@bobthepoppop In pop music that has always been the culture' even with other genres for the most part like R&B, there are entire artist development teams so a lot of the times the artist are just singers but rap the culture has always been that a rapper writes his own raps or your a fraud' except woman have gotten a pass because they are newer to the music and its OK they get a helping hand' That is the issue with Drake saying he is one of the greatest when you don't even write your own raps' that was the issue' then Drake thought because he killed another rapper in beef and people said don't go after Drake because he will eat you alive' Drake though that he could easily dismantle this other rapper Pusha T and boy was he wrong' It almost ended Drakes career and has taken a little power off of his legacy'
i love bob but man .. 4 minutes in and i already wished he would use the annotations 😂 really helps you understand the whole thing in its entirety
Yeah, wrong move on my part for sure
If you’ve got time for it, I think it would be really dope to do a conversation with the community on this beef. There’s a ton of little nuances that would be cool to go over from someone that knows all the ins and outs
I agree!!
Agreed
^^^ thumbs up
This modern beef has lots of background and other diss lines before these songs
Yes this is one he needs to do
Good idea
Drake did a disstrack, Pusha did a whole goddamn dissection
It’s about to be a surgical summer
@@Twofacex2 ☀️
One thing I love about The Story Of Adidon is that Pusha T's voice almost sounds demonic (especially his laughs.) He delivers his lines like he's a force of nature.
That’s something I think applies for all his music, and that’s y I like it
The Story of Adidon is legendary because it's a laser focused attack at Drake from so many angles at once, kinda like a death from a thousand cuts situation, only that any one of these laser attacks is lethal on its own.
You can tell even years after that Drake is still salty over this.
One of the things I appreciate most about it is that almost every aspect of the song serves to disrespect Drake and everything connects thematically in a brilliant manner, the cover art, Drake in blackface (which is 100% real) which is basically a visual parallel to how he's viewed in the rap game, someone who isn't respected and tried to be like someone he's not and the instrumental that strengthens that same idea etc
hilariously misinformed, fun to watch lol
also that ovo 40 line in the pusha verse was actually mad disrespectful lmao. he sad " ovo 40 hunched over like he 80. tick tick tick hom much time he gott" ovo 40 is a producer for drake and has an incurable condition ( multiple sclerosis ) that can kill him lmaoo

Glad u finally got around to this but i think u missed a couple major moments on both tracks 😭. Like all of the Kanye disses on Duppy and the references to drakes producer 40 having a terminal illness on pushas track
So much behind this beef, it's one of them ones that you gotta dedicate some time to fully understand.
Beyond the lyrics, Pusha's delivery was savage.
2018 was a great time to be a rap fan
drake actually started taking care of his child because of the story of addidon
Nah he told Kanye abt his son and Kanye told pusha so your wrong
That’s just wrong cause he already was
@@Daniel-hm4iustop the cap. 40 was pillow talking and told a female who told pusha
@Daniel-hm4iu Drake dissed Kanye on Duppy before SoA came out... why are you acting like Kanye betrayed Drake when Drake went at Kanye first, before Push said anything about his kid.
Pusha bodied Drake so hard he literally ruined an entire merchandise deal Drake had lined for the reveal of his son.
What a legend.
21:44 😭😭😭😭😂😂😂😂😂 Bob had me 💀💀💀💀
These videos are always really interesting because it just shows how even if you have the ability to read the lyrics, there are so many cultural nuances and history that have to be understood in order to really get the full effect.
DONT FORGET: Push linked Drake's dad walking out on him to him walking out of his child. A full cycle. Absolutely brutal
"I bring calicoes to the alamo."
A calicoe is also an old british weapon that holds 50 or 100 rounds.
Like the model 950 made by calico.
Apparently a close cousin is the 950A which would be a submachine gun version.
As much as you don’t trust annotations, you’re literally not understanding even half of the songs Bob
Pusha dissed drake into making him a better father. That’s the coldest thing that’s ever happened in rap.
Pusha's track hit so hard it made Drake be a father to his child.
Quick correction; Duppy released the same day as Daytona. While not my favorite rapper by any means, I gotta give props to Drake for immediately hopping in the stu and putting out a response
His writers do a great job
The ovo sweatshop was working overtime
believe me it shows that it was too rushed lmao

Even when he does he disagrees with the annotation 90% of the time smh
He never really liked the genius annotations
It's like watching a nice suburban family watching a trainwreck drama show how wholesome
Y’all should of read the annotations both drake and pusha had some bars. Especially drakes “father had to stretch his hands and get it from me” 👀
Love this! I can tell Bob is embraced in the genre now because he understands this, and he laughs at stuff that people into this would. He called something "the weakest shit" lol now that tells me you're all in now. Really like when you bring your wife in because she's being introduced to something new, but you can tell she's not listening to this music as much as you because she is lost sometimes, but it makes sense!
Entertaining watching you react lol Makes me realize I really want you to listen to 4:44. Look forward to it whenever it happens. Definitely recommend the annotations for this lol I was like click it! 🤣
I loved this lol. You could make a series of these diss tracks. Diss track monday. There's quite a few good ones. But this one was epic because you knew alot of the lore and why it's beef to begin with
Thanks for doing this reaction :) It was great to relive this time
I love your guys reaction to all the music, been following for a while, im never disappointed. So happy yall got to react to story of Adidon
y'all missed almost all the best parts of both disses these songs need damn case studies

You both are really cool people! Have watched the channel for so long and it's always a great time! Keep it up yall!
Congrats on 70K man!
Thanks for doing this you and your wife were very enjoyable reviewing this.
this was an awesome video y’all keep it up
Contrary to what you said, your wife is a welcome addition to track reactions! That collective "Ooooh" is what makes the reaction to a great diss.
This video brings a smile to my face
Y’all gotta revisit these with the annotations. Drakes freestyle was actually very good. Y’all just missed a lot of the bars, which is to be expected since there’s so much nuance involved here. The whole beginning he’s talking about writing for kanye, who is pushas producer. So he’s saying how can you be mad at me when you work with kanye and he does the same thing. Also you missed some of the most savage parts of pushas diss. “Ovo 40, hunched over like he’s 80…..how much time her got…..that man is sick sick sick” ovo 40 is drakes producer and he has MS.
This was fun! You guys have to do another one! 😅
This was so damn entertaining! Love it
ah this was one of those times to use annotations bob! lol your wife is awesome thanks for the vids
Monday being wife content is the best choice ever
I like your wife being there. My only suggestion would be that you control the Scrolling and clicking next time lol
The let it ring line going over your head even after reading the annotation killed me. But I love this reaction regardless haha.
He literally took one line out of Duppy and disliked the entire song based on one line he didn't like. Lol 😂 some ppl just dislike Drake man. They don't even give the guy a chance
And the thing is that line has a deeper meaning too, its not just “abcs”. He woulda known if he clicked the annotation 😂
you should do another deep dive on these as you missed a lot. Story of Addidon in particular can literally just be read line to line with references and allusions in every one. This was honestly such a moment in hip hop and it really solidified my fandom of the genre.
Was not expecting this one at all, completely forgot about these tracks
In the future you’re going to want to use annotations more. You missed a lot of meaning behind both tracks due to not knowing information and history between both artists
duppy was decent but adidon was a VIOLATION
still hope this wont affect you reacting to NWTS/ IYRTITL though haha
Fr bro drake gotta get some damn respect on this channel we cant be starting off with career lowlights 😂😂
@@dies3156 well tbh it seems like Bob doesn’t like him at all cause he wasn’t feeling take care which is my personal fav by him
Honestly i can’t blame him cause from the point of a mature adult wtf are “toxic” lyrics about heartbreaks LOL but with younger people like me it resonates better and the replay ability comes from the soundscape in general
@@align8325 take care is still fire tbh. I definitely do fault him for being mad about toxic lyrics whilst at the same time saying he enjoys near every song. Definitely think he had overblown the whole its bad cause its toxic thing just cause it was drake whilst fully appreciating HoB recently for example and yeah thats more nuanced for sure but still known for starting that kind of openly toxic wave of music
@@dies3156 yea it’s kinda weird especially considering that weekend has such a huge influence on take care and literally worked on it on par with drake himself, but then again we can’t expect non to like EVERYTHING and at the end of the day to each their own and there ARE reasons not to like tc even tho i love it
Idk man. It’s one thing if he wasn’t feeling Take Care, but Bob doesn’t seem to like or respect Drake at all.
Him reacting to NWTS or IYRTITL is slim to none lmao
the story of adidon has to be top 3 best disstracks oat. also do lift yourself by kanye (classic) adds context to "what would meek do" on daytona
Lift yourself Not a classic nigga
It's really not. Duppy is a much better disstrack, he hit Pusha where it hurts (age, him lying about being a drug kingpin, his brother being better, his lack of success), and the only thing Pusha said was - you have a deadbeat dad and you have a son no one knows about. It is not a diss, but in the current world of social media and spectacle it draws attention. Plus he used Jay-Z's beat so you can't even look at it as a "real" song.

Bob do some research on the story of adidon because every line is intentional, what makes the song even better is at the end of the song he says “we are gonna just peel it back layer and layer” meaning that this song was just sort of a warm up to some more brutal stuff down the road but drake was too scared to reply.Funny reaction video!
How did y’all miss the OVO 40 line, use the annotations Bob that’s what they’re there for lol smfh now we won’t get that reaction on video. That’s all I was waiting for lmao
Because they don't know who 40 is nor do they really care. They just want the subscribers to tune in the comment section and break it down to them. More comments help with the algorithm.
Virginia Williams is pusha T’s wife. She put a ring on pusha’s finger.
Ooooof i think you shoulda clicked the annotations a tad more on these two tracks bob 😂 I think you missed a couple key bars. Genius will typically be right about the meaning of most of the lyrics in a song, of course there are anomalies sometimes however.
I loved this 😂
The bars in Duppy Freestyle talking about Push’s producers were referring to Kanye. Drake was saying that Kanye doesn’t make his beats himself and works with several other engineers and artists while putting his name on it. You’ve seen how many producers get credits on Kanye’s albums but the only person who gets acclaim is him. I think it’s valid to bring up that Drake wasn’t crediting Quentin for his writing credits though. Drake goes on to say that he’s done things for him that he never thought he’d have to do-including writing the hook for Yikes on the album ye. Drake said in an interview that he came to Wyoming to work with Kanye and wrote that hook. Then Kanye gave him a beat. Before ye came out, Kanye released a song called “Lift Yourself” with the beat that he gave Drake. He made it a meme. The verse was just “poopty scoop” and variations of that. That’s why Kanye’s verse started like that on What Would Meek Do? on DAYTONA. Just giving you some more backstory so you can see an even bigger picture. You also missed some lines about OVO 40 at the end of Story of Adidon. I think you should look into them. Anyway, great video!
Bob-- you have to do Control by Big Sean and Kendrick Lamar. Kendrick has one of the most influential verses of the past decade on that track.
