In order to get a Model 19 without the stupid lock I found myself a Model 19-3. I love that revolver. It was made in 1973 and still looks and functions like a new revolver.

I can wait for these to prove themselves in usage rather than knee-jerk to prove the marketing. I'm pretty set on already proven and reliable S&W revolvers and have more than I can shoot with two hands and a New York reload. Until the real critical end users prove otherwise, this is a marketing gimmick. Just like Springfield's SA-35's. Which were unfinished garbage.
I have an original in 38-200 (38SW) surplus from WW2 not issued looks old but still like new. Perfect barrel and lockup classic SW Quality. It was cheap.
They should've put the regular checkered service grips on the model 10. Hopefully, they'll fix that. It's amazing and appalling to see how little gun manufacturers listen to their customers. They need to start accepting suggestions from customers while guns are in the planning stages. Instead, most manufacturers are obsessed with being secretive. Then suddenly, SURPRISE, here's a new gun with a couple of things you won't like! SHM!

I own quite a few late model Smiths, have never (and will never) used the lock, not even sure where the keys are. I don't HATE the lock, I just would prefer not to have it. A 29 with no lock and counterbored chambers could be an insta-buy for me.
My keys are in the boxes the guns came in... still in their plastic wrappers... and that's where they'll be when I trade them in for some new models without the locks!
S&W, model 19, snub nose, 2/12 magnum, using +P+ ammo was my duty gun while employed with the U.S. Secret Service, assigned to President Ronald Reagan's family protective division, in the 1980's. What a gun!

Ruger should take notes down too but instead Ruger is cranking out Glock Gen 3 clones. Look I'm a Glock guy myself but even I'm tired of seeing GLOCK clones in the market. It's either some sort of Glock 19 Gen 3 clone, M92FS clone, another 1911 clone or a Walther PPQ clone and most of them are Turkish.
@@SCH292 I would love a Ruger mini that's able to use standardized ar-15 mags, and a new ruger 96 which is a lever action gun that uses all 1022 magazines. Lever action guns are cool but tube magazines aren't fun for a serious amount of shooting. A take down mini ruger would be cool though.

Better late than never! I can't wait to finally buy a new S&W revolver again. I'm in for that no-lock Model 10 and Model 19 as soon as I can find them in stock! Love the classic touches done to the Model 10 and 36 too - half moon front sight, large ejector rod end, etc. Thanks for finally listening to over twenty years of demands, S&W. Now delete the lock from the rest of the revolver line! Hopefully S&W reverts the frame shapes back to the nicer curves of the pre-lock guns and changes the barrel font back to the older style sometime in the future.

I still run my Grandpas model 10. He carried one in WW2. He's got the pictures to prove it. He purchased several S&Ws revolvers when he came home. He became a Deputy Sheriff and was issued a 1911 in 1947 Strange but true. Off duty he still carried his revolvers until he died. Some people just prefer revolvers.

I never really minded it. The lock was only ever intended for storage, anyway.

It’s in my toolbox somewhere. I put it there when I got it home and haven’t looked at it since.

I actually removed the locks and installed plugs. The lock can never engage if there isn’t one. 😅

Although the padtridge style target sights are my favorite to shoot, the fixed/half moon set up is definitely the peak aesthetic 👍

I prefer the classic revolvers. My dad has a Model 28 Highway Patrolman, and I own a Model 1917. I might have to consider getting one of the .38's.
N-Frames, especially the ones before S&W adopted the model number nomenclature, are just art. 👌
