So true, I already thought this about my mother in 2016, but even more now. My mother was born 1923 in Germany and was involved in the resistance in Munich. She had a lifelong hate for fascism and was horrified by the possibility of its resurgence. She died in 2008.
So sorry to hear that my mom was born in 1928 Germany 🇩🇪 shot 3 times in her leg . Met my dad while he was stationed in Germany he and my 2 uncles were in the segregated military of America. They fell in love and got married then my brother and I were born. I miss my parents, but I've been happy so many times that they never knew that the country elected Trump. They cared so much about their country and civil and equal rights, etc. It was important to them to leave life feeling like the world was getting better. it would have been so tragically depressing for them to see that at the end of their life.

My grandfather fought in WW2 and came home to face segregation but he said when he saw the atrocities committed against the Jewish people he knew it was road we couldn't have in this country. He passed in 2014.

Trump held a rally 10 minutes from the capital, two months after the election, claimed the election was stolen despite no evidence, then acted like it wasn't his supporters who stormed the capital.
He did this despite credible intelligence that suggested his rally might spark violence.
Sadly, this wasn't even all he did. He tried to slate a fake board of electors and coerce government officials into subverting the election in other ways, as well.
After all this, he and his loyal worshippers act like they are surprised that he's being indicted. "How could they indict God's President?"
Many see Trump as some God figure, maybe his second begotten son.
As MAGA, you have to believe everything Trump says. If there is evidence to the contrary, then you can't believe it. It's not possible that God's President could lie.

My grandpa's birth certificate, was burned in a fire at his doctor's office. So at 15, he dropped out of school and joined the Army-Air Force, to fight in WWII.
My grandma, went to Cadet nursing school part of the day, and welded Victory Ships the other part, to do what she could for the war effort.
They both did their part, to fight the very thing, some of our fellow Americans are now happily walking towards.

My mom passed away in October of 2016. I have always felt the same way.... she would have been so upset and disappointed to have seen our downward spiral and the loss of women's autonomy. Sometimes, I feel like I must be in a nightmare - this can't be our reality. But for the first time in history, each of us has the opportunity to peacefully stop it.

Whoopi, I feel the same way, and I’m Canadian. We were a family of Nine, so Vacations were everyone piling into a station wagon and driving somewhere. Part of my parent’s “Story” was driving to NYC on their honeymoon in October of 1952 - they were big fans of Musical theatre. They stopped in Lake Placid, en route, and loved it, so we would often all go to Lake Placid for Canadian Thanksgiving. While proudly Canadian, my parents enjoyed a fair bit of travelling in the U.S., enjoying the natural beauty and some of its major cities. I thought, in 2016, and still to this day, how glad I am that they did not live long enough to see the Trump Presidency or how the USA has devolved with the fascist MAGA cult. My parents would have been heartbroken.
