This made me want to cry for the Zimbabwe of the 90s, of my beautiful amazing youth in my beautiful and amazing Zimbabwe. I miss it so dearly, I hope our little paradise can return one day- healed and full of hope!
What happened to our beautiful beloved country - when you go to cbd now the streets are lined with rubbish & vendors hustling trying to survive...this makes me so sad & I pray that we get back to where we were in the early/mid 90s...one love Zimbabwe 🇿🇼🇿🇼🇿🇼🇿🇼
Thanks so much for the two First Street photos. I saw them both as a young man. First before it became a pedestrian mall, that was before 1978 and after it became a pedestrian mall that is after December 1978 I think. I used to come for Christmas lighting ceremonies, I never missed one from 1974 when Tony Tanser was newly elected as Mayor of Salisbury, until 1989 when Simon Chikwavaire was newly elected Mayor,
I'm still drinking Mazoe Orange here in Hout Bay, Cape Town. My absolute favorite.... In 1978 I was in charge of the voting station at Henderson Research Centre, Mazoe. Talk about madala..

My country was comfortable and warm. Then the war vets happened. Mugabe gave them $50 000 each. The dollar fell because of inflation. They then took the farms by force. Companies closed, most people left, brain drain happened. Now were just left with memories.☹☹☹

I also noticed how clean it used to be. Now there is trash everywhere. It's so sad that people disrespect the country like this
