This might as well be magic. You've got me trying NMM myself for the first time after getting new paint for Christmas! Thanks for the inspiration and keep up the great content 👍👍
Thanks to the excellent quality of the video you can zoom directly into RUclips and appreciate the excellent work you do. Thank you very much for the effort.
I literally just handed in a commission for this guy yesterday morning. This would have been super helpful like 2 days ago haha! Very useful information! Will definitely use going forward
It has been a couple of days since you were painting mixing metallic and non metallic paints until nowadays, where you paint a full fledged NMM with Kirill's special sauce(environmental reflections), kudos for your fantastic evolution and very formative and entertaining videos. I want to wish you a happy and full of success new year
This is such amazing artistry. The first stages are so hard for the novice to visualize, but - before your very eyes - it goes from sort of a dull mess to a "mirror" finish. Adding that blue glaze is when it really started to pop. So cool.
This is so incredible, thank you for these tutorials I have increased in my painting ability by watching you. Any chance you could do death troopers and Krennic? I always struggle with black armor and starting to work more with OSL.
This is unbelievably good, except that it's Sorastro, so I believe it. You've done so much for this hobby, and for me individually as a painter. I hope you enjoy making these as much as I do watching them!
That's very kind - thank you! I began making videos out of the love and passion that I have for the hobby, and the Star Wars universe, and that's just as true today as it was when I started (almost 10 years ago!) 😁
I started my painting journey a couple years ago with you painting tutorial for zombicide. I painted a fair bit now and checked TONS of other content creators on the subject, trying more advanced techniques or some speed painting ones like the recent Slapchop. But now i come back here to realize that your videos are still the best, speed\efficiency i ever saw. Mixing all your colors along the way instead of creating the need to buy tons of paints. Keep it up, you are inspiring and a insanely good painter.
Man, I used your tutorials to paint all of my Imperial assault minis, and now I'm back to follow you along for my Legion ones. I remember someone saying you are the Bob Ross of miniature painting and I completely agree! You're seriously good at this and your videos are super peaceful to watch haha I always recommend you to my friends getting into minis and we all love you!
I have been painting for a long time but have been on hiatus for quite some time. I started watching your videos just a few days ago and I have learned more from them than any other videos I've watched on RUclips. They way you paint really jives with the way I paint. Thank for the awesomeness and inspiring me to start painting again!
This is amazing. Just picked up this model today, and am really considering doing NMM, just because your guides are so clear and easy to follow. Like a lot of people, Mando and Grogu are two of my favorite new characters in the universe--I don't want to mess them up! Thank you for your SW Legion series! You really got me mixing more of my own colors, and I've learned more from you than any other mini painter on RUclips. Also, thanks for getting me into Rosemary and Co brushes. I prefer them to W&N, and I get two for the price of one 🤘
Hiya Sorastro! Have you considered maybe making a small tutorial for painting the legion barriacdes? seems like a good way to show of different paint schemes and techniques!
You are in my top 5 of all time figure painters... I've been doing miniatures and models since 1982 when I was 11. Any chance you can do a video of how you got started and maybe a little about your journey to getting to this level? Thanks in advance. Keep em coming
Thanks for the video, I have been saving my Djin in anticipation for your guide:) I have never tried nmm before but this seems like a good time to try.
Really nicely done, you make it look so easy. I would have painted the armor a light metallic blue drybrushed with Honed Steel mixed with a bit of silver and called it good.
Amazing work!! NMM has been a mystery to me for ages. It’s something that can be looked at, but not seen; and definitely not done in paint. But [don’t say it … don’t say it] this is The Way. 🤦♂️
Any chance we will see any Aeon Trespass: Odyssey videos? Some pretty wild miniatures in there and it would be great to see you do the Cycle 1 core stuff like the KD:M series.
The old Sky Earth NMM. Tricky bugger that one. Gotta get it nice and smooth but also high contrast. Very easy to end up going pastel. We used to call it Ice Cream NMM when we got it wrong... Needless to say you went and smashed it again Mark. His right shoulder pad and front right part of the helmet especially. p.s. I like the new twist on the intro music!
Good tutorial!! I'm going to have to watch it a few more times... although it seems simple, you have to admit that you have a lot of talent for painting and it sure isn't that easy 😅 hahaha thanks for sharing your videos 👏👏👏👏👏😍❤️❤️
I was wondering if you could paint the star wars legion luke skywalker from return of the jedi? I'm new to painting and saw your other luke and it was really good and I wanted some help.
Hi Maximus! Sure - I actually produced a PDF guide for Jedi Luke some time back: sorastro.com/2020/12/24/luke-skywalker-operative-pdf-painting-guide/ I hope it helps! 😀
The leg piece that you painted in the red-brown tones was later replaced by another piece that has more of a military dark green olive tone. The red piece is definitely more striking and the better aesthetic choice, but the sculpt is definitely based on Djarin's appearance at the end of season 2, so the green one would be for accuracy.
Hi again, how do you blend midtones, shadows and highlights in the Armor ? And, it would work if my base is clearer than yours? Because in this case i would be using less dark shadows :(
Amazing work like always! Do you think a thin layer transparent silver glossed over the top would ruin or give it more of a shine still seeing the reflections underneath?
Thanks buddy! Hmm, I'm not sure how well would work tbh, but it might be worth testing out on a spare mini or something.. alternatively you could just incorporate some metallics into the paints used for the main base/highlights etc 🙂
I don't want to complain, but so much star wars figures and so few kingdom death monster figures. It's time for a KDM expansion or at least tell us what the next episode is for a figure. 😅 By the way, great work as always at master level
Hi Ro! I'm afraid mixing colours is the only way to achieve a subtle range of tones, and it's a pretty fundamental part of painting tbh, so might be worth giving a go! 😀
@@Sorastro I agree, but it's just hard to gauge the actual colour when viewed on a monitor. With the pre-mixed colours that "the gaming" companies sell it makes it somewhat easier. Thanks for the reply.
This might as well be magic. You've got me trying NMM myself for the first time after getting new paint for Christmas! Thanks for the inspiration and keep up the great content 👍👍
Thanks Dylan! It's not too hard once you break things down.. 😀
Yeah it's a fun learning curve and it's been very fun so far!
Thanks to the excellent quality of the video you can zoom directly into RUclips and appreciate the excellent work you do.
Thank you very much for the effort.
Thank you Jorge! I really appreciate that 😀
As amazing as your painting is, your photography/cinematography is equally as impressive.
Thank you my friend! 🤗

Ha, thanks buddy 😁
Absolutely beautiful work!!!

Thanks so much Mikel! I'm honoured to even be mentioned in the same breath as Kirill - the one, true Master..! 😀
Dear Sorastro, Outstanding workmanship...as usual! Thank you for the tutoria,l it was very informative and very useful. Best Wishes Johnny
Thank you good sir! I'm very glad you enjoyed the episode. 😀

I’ve been waiting and looking for this the past 3 weeks. Thank you

That’s amazing. It’s not a NMM tutorial, but explains more about “why” than most tutorials out there ._. Thank you, good sir!
Thank you very much! I'm glad you found it useful 😀

Awesome! Thanks buddy 😀
Love your Star Wars videos ❤great work

Thanks a lot Kristoffer! Go for it! 😀
Me too! Have you started yet? Just picked the model up this afternoon myself.
Do you have a guide for Cad Bane? Amazing work!
Thank you! I made a PDF guide for Car Bane ages ago; I just haven't got round to publishing it on the website yet. Leave it with me though.. 😀
@@Sorastro I have been struggling with getting a good blue tone for his skin, I eagerly await the pdf!
Great tutorial on Sky/Earth or "chrome" NMM technique! Keep up the great work Sorastro.
Thanks so much! I really appreciate that 😀
Beautiful work! Gold! I mean...Beskar!!!
Ha ha, thanks man! 😁
Gonna be applying this to the new Mando this weekend, can’t wait to get my hands on the model
Fantastic! I hope you enjoy working on the new sculpt 😀
This has got to be the most bang up nmm technique I’ve ever seen, I’ve gotta go pick up my jaw from the floor now…
That's very kind - thank you Ethan! 😊
Brilliant! Definitely going to give this a try 🙌
Awesome! 😀
They was amazing! 😍
Thanks a lot! 😀
Amazing, as always!
Thank you my dude! 🤗
Hey you’re back!! Yay!🙃👍🏽
Ha ha, yey! I've just been busy working on some stuff that a can't show yet, but I'm keeping busy! 😁
Really nicely done, you make it look so easy. I would have painted the armor a light metallic blue drybrushed with Honed Steel mixed with a bit of silver and called it good.

Would it be possible to watch you paint Scythe? I’m about to try mini painting for the first time using that board game. Love your work!

This is the (incredible) way.
Sorastro has spoken.
He ha, thank you kindly 😁
Really nice job. Have you see the late pledge of deep madness there are pretty interesting figs which you can sublimize
Thanks Julien! I confess I haven't seen that yet.. 😀
That’s incredibly impressive. I‘m probably never going to try that with my limited hobby time. Still, thank you for sharing!
Thanks Daniel! It's certainly a bit of an indulgence for sure.. 😁
I'd be curious to have a "time taken to paint" info... This has to take forever at some point.... :D Incredible, as always
Do you think a small highlight of a realy brigth silver would give the armor a more metallic effect ?
After doing the process you shown us in the video
I was wondering if you could paint the star wars legion luke skywalker from return of the jedi? I'm new to painting and saw your other luke and it was really good and I wanted some help.

do you think this way of painting shiny metal, works for larger scale models also?!
Absolutely! 😀

can you paint a triangular reflection of a Star Destroyer??? I Love the music as always

it is an odd feeling when it just clicks and starts to read as chrome. It genuinely feels like a magic trick.
Ha yeh, I know what you mean 😁

Why are you using tube paints as opposed to thinner bottle paints from most of the hobby companies

So I started this thinking that I would copy it. I ended up masking the armor and blasting it with Molotow Chrome 🤣
Ha ha, nothing wrong with that.. 😁
Wait, you have a face? Did I miss a video?
I forgot about the Hulk ep.
Ha ha, yeh - I occasionally show my face just to remind people I am human.. 😁
