Before doing all this, check to see if the water in the line is frozen. This what happen to me. To check, look for the water line connector at bottom of the freezer door where the dispenser is. You may have to remove the bottom plastic grill panel. Disconnect the water line and close the door. Put a towel at the disconnect water line. Press the water dispenser to see if water spray out at bottom. If water spray out, you have a frozen water line at the dispenser, therefore the procedure for this video will not work. To fix this frozen water line, reconnect the water line and use a hair dryer to heat up general area of the water dispenser (including the door side). It may take a while for the area to be warm enough to melt the ice enough to let water sip though as you keep pressing the water dispenser. Mine took 15 minutes.
On another note: If the frozen water line keep reoccurring shortly after unblocking it, it mean water somehow got into inside the door along the water line. This water outside the line in the door help conduct the freezing temperature and thus freeze the water line. To permanently fix this, you will need to remove to water through evaporation by removing door and letting it dry out (in the sun).
Good info. Thank you😊
This is what's a matter with mine
You rule
It worked!
How do I dissconnnect the water line at the bottom of the door.
Thank you for the great presentation and instructions.
Thanks so much Sammy😊😊😊
but these GE POS there's a warmer in there that keeps that area warm so it doesn't freeze but it goes bad and they want $800 for a new door you can't take the box out because it's put in from the back before they put the foam on... so I cut a small door dug out all the foam drilled holes through the outside tiny about 30 little holes up against that where the line runs for the water.. I put a piece of duct tape against it then sprayed expando foam and put the plastic back the part that I cut out for the door
works fine it'll last a long time
Wow,
That’s a great fix😊😊😊
Good video! How can we find out what's the right part number to order off Amazon?
Best to check the inside of your refrigerator for the model number.
I get no water or ice. I replaced filter but when I charge the filter head no water comes out. Could the water be frozen or is it the fill valve that is not pushing water?
Just question
I just changed the water filter and the water is flowing but I can hear the ice maker asking for water but no water is going to it.
Could it be that I didn’t put the water filter as instructed?
Or something else
Thank you for any feed back
I can’t see well what is the part number you should put it in the description
Yes plz! Need part number
Part number might be WR57X10051

I changed this out. But still does not work. Water on door works. Ice maker making noice like it is working. What else. Can I do.
Can you send that same question to my email: scottthefixitguy@yahoo.com
My icemaker works fine, and it dispenses ice, it's just the water that doesn't dispense. Is there a way to check the solenoid ?
Can you send that same question to my email: scottthefixitguy@yahoo.com
We have a side-by-side refrigerator with a freezer bottom drawer...do you have any videos to fix our water dispenser...ice working...checked back...replaced filter...etc etc etc...still keeps freezing up!! Help

We’ll get it Fixed👍
It seemed like you went straight to the solenoid valve before testing anything else. Is that the case or did I miss something? What made you start with the valve replacement? How did you determine that' what you needed to replace it make it work?
Thanks Alan,
It’s the most common reason👍
Real trap I seen another guy just use a blow dryer
I agree, no troubleshooting in the video, straight to replacing that valve thingy .. 🤷🏽♂️
But it's OK. Is what you need if you try everything else. There is only one thing I would prefer he was more on it with the camera. I don't know you'll, but I need to see the details. It makes me feel more confident trying things.
My ice maker is making ice but I’m not getting water or dispensing ice
Do you hear anything when you call for water or ice.
Mine is the same. I hear click from back of refrigerator on that side
@@QuickAndEasy5MinuteAppliance I have the same issue! I am getting ice but no water. I just got water to this frig after having the frig for several years now. Everything worked great when we connected the water. We went to bed and the next day could not get any water out of the frig. Ice still works. When I press the button It sounds like it's calling for water but nothing is coming out. I used a plastic line to see if it was frozen and nothing!
Yes our GE fridge water is not coming & I changed the filter still not water is coming!! Just watched this video & will try tomorrow & let you all know soon.
Did that work?
For rookies like me TURN OFF MAIN WATER VALVE FIRST
Thank you👍
Mine water or ice is not being dispensed but the ice maker is making ice and the ice crusher is not working. Inlet value is the issue there too?

What’s name of part that I can order from amazon?
A you send me the fridge model number?
How do I know if it's the fill solenoid? I tried the hair dryer trick and it didn't work. When I disconnect the water line from the front of the fridge under the door, no water comes out when I push the button. But yet I am still getting ice. I'm seriously stumped. Any advice please???

FOR MY GE BOTTOM REFRIGERATOR, I CHANGED THE WATER INLET VALVE. STILL ICE MAKER DOES NOT GET WATER
Might have a frozen water line👍
Water line is clear. Any other remedy.
I have a three year old GE refrigerator and I replaced the filter in the filter mechanism up in the upper right corner of the refrigerator and now it makes a chattering sound at the filter mechanism. I’ve changed the filter six times in three years never a problem today I installed the filter and it just chattered in the mechanism and now I have no water at the dispenser. Could that possibly be a bad filter mechanism because when I call for water at the dispenser I can hear the valve humming in the back and when I release the lever for water it stops. That tells me that the valve is energized calling for water but I’m getting nothing and everything stopped when I changed the filter the same filters I’ve been using.
Thanks Jeremiah,
Can you reinstall it again and make sure there’s no seal on the end of the filter.
Great video but is this similar to my problem? I just moved in and its my first time having a fridge with a dispenser so i don't know anything. Just this afternoon i tried getting some water but none cane out and since ive never had one of these fridges i thought maybe u needed to fill it like a filter but with all these videos ive seen that's not the solition. The ice is fine but the water is just messed up
Can you get behind the refrigerator and look for the water line comes out of the wall and see if there is a valve hook to the waterline and make sure that valve is in the on position.
Many times the landlord turns off the water between tenants.
@@QuickAndEasy5MinuteAppliance He said the ice is fine which means the water valve is on.
Was there no water at all coming out? Mine comes out but very slowly. I suspect it is not the solenoid on mine, if it was I would have no water correct?
Could be that inlet valve being worn out and not opening enough.
@@QuickAndEasy5MinuteAppliance is that inside the filter head?
What if the tubes are not going in and staying and water keeps spraying everywhere?
I wonder if your new tubes are too thick to fit in?
Hey My GE refrigerator wont run unless I have water going to it , If the water supply should stop the refrigerator turns off .. any way to fix this. ??
What's the part #?
Mine is slow to shut off could it be this part?
It could be that water inlet valve.
Helped me fix my GE side by side thanks! 👍
Thanks Joseph😊
How did you know the fill solenoid was the problem?
We’ll never know
Thats the money shot. Diagnosis is the real thing. Replacing part not so much
Too bad we can't see what you're doing.
I know, horrible lighting and video work. He wants to help but needs help with the actual filming because it's terrible!
Don't be so scared to get back there and do it.
Thank you for the video. Bunch of NPCs install and take down how you found it
Very informative video. I'm wondering if this could be related to one of my issue. Just today, no water comes out and the ice dispenser doesn't turn. The front panel LEDs are light. When push back on the dispenser arm, there's a sound like something is trying to work for second then stops and the lights on the panel dimmed. Almost like a power-drain during the attempt. Any ideas for what to look for?
Sounds like the fill valve in the back needs to be replaced
@@QuickAndEasy5MinuteAppliance This morning, a clicking noise started happening and the water light dimmed ( it was selected at the time) and there were lights on the temp control panel. I tried quick pressing the fridge door switch with the door open a few times and something reset. The panel came back on but showed -48 and -38. From what I reading online this might be the main board?
