If you're reading this, you have a damn good taste in music.
No u!
you know that.i concur
Renaissance Queen she is!!!! My favorite jam by Dr. Patrice!!
Patrice, the voice of angel. Listening to this, l time travel to an era of Happy Music raining all around me, from Patrice, Nile Rodgers, KC, Maurice White, Ashford & Simpson. Music with emotion and sincerity, something humanity needs right now in a bad way.
Thank you.
ONE OF THE MOST SAMPLED FEMALE ARTISTS. SHE PRODUCED EVERY SONG IN HER ALBUMS.
Kirk Franklin Looking for U from Morbid credits. How U Doin?
Bonafide genius.
Wow! Thanks for sharing the info! She’s very talented 🙏💯
I really hope she owns all of them
She was great what she did and original 🤩
Patrice Rushen does not get the recognition she deserves. The woman is quite frankly superb!!
No she doesn't.
They just did Last weekend BLACK music honor 💦💯🎊🔥🎶👑👑♥️♥️♥️🔥🔥♥️🔥🔥🎶🎶👑♥️🔥♥️♥️🔥🎶🎶
I TOTALLY AGREE 👍🏽💯

She is a phenomenal musician and didn’t want to be part of Prince’s trophy case. I totally respect her.
Met her in 77 she was fine and tiny...
@@curtisholt7291 she is beautiful
Im a 77 kid old school all the way im 44 now pushing 45 nothing like old school
I love Prince but she made the best decision....
Good for her. She's run her ship her way. She's a hero for musical creativity.
Patrice was one of the few women at the time that did it all. A master jazz musician. She fused jazz, r&b and funk into a signature sound.
Jazz fans hated when it seemed as though Patrice Rushen had abandoned the genre a few years prior.
Nn
@@AEMoreira81 I have no time for jazz snobs. I love jazz, and I also love it when someone crosses over across genres to connect jazz to rock and r and b and hip hop and metal. I've always had a heavy jazz influence and I've played metal, rock, prog, etc. Music is music. If it's good I dig it.
Patrice is a genius for sure. Another brilliant female artist around the time this came out was Lesette Wilson, also a jazz pianist and still producing music today.
Don't forget about Sade
Who thumbed this down, this woman could write, play instruments and sing, crazy
This lady needs pure respect what she has brought to music.....LEGEND
ABSOLUTELY ❤❤❤❤❤❤
I can barely listen to this because of the wonderful, emotional memories it evokes. The years have flown by and life is moving way too fast. Damn I miss my youth. :(
You are not alone Sue!😊😔
Your not by yourself
I hear ya!
.
Believe 🎤🎼❤️
2020 who still listening? At work reminiscing of the old days @ the house with Mom and Dad dancing all the cares away. One Love.
EVEN 2079 AND 2179.
This gem just got a reboot by a chap named Alan Fitzpatrick, UK techno producer, but he just gave it a bit of 2020's uptempo beat and kept most of the original. Great rework, and does wonders on the dancefloor!
Listening now 2020!
Bet You Didn't Know This Came Out In 1980 And Was Featured In "Cheaper To Keep Her" Starring Mac Davis Which Also Came Out That Year, 1980.
im 27. MAGIC SONG
At least i know where kirk Franklin got his inspiration
I l knew this song first then years later I heard Kirk Franklins version. I was confused 🤔 and thought some else sung looking for you. Then 15 years later I heard this on the radio and was jamming and put this song with Kirk Franklin's song! 🤗😁
I wonder why they never played this one as much as her other songs on the radio; back in the day?
I was today years old when I found out Looking For You sampled this 😂
@@justanotheryoutuber1997 same here
I hate that song...certain shit needs to be left alone
This intro’s composition is so solid that you could build a house on it
Indeed
My dad used to play the hell out of Patrice Rushen. Some songs just stick with you all your life. I'm so glad I was born in the era of good music.
Work Out
Great club dance song that Patrice is great
She's a great singer and pianist
Me too, great music, great memories
Me too
65 and this song brings me back to being 25
You can always tell a Patrice rushen song when you hear it because of the Rhodes piano....her signature instrument on a lot of her earlier hits.
Marquis Williams ,she BAAADDD✌️🤜🤛

@@lenardshaw6037 love it when she use to come to the bay area and perform at our jazz festivals. Great talent.
Music of today in no way compares to music of yesterday.
Yeah, you're just wrong.
@@CompletelyBlankPage I totally agree with Kwuan. Today's music can't even come close to the artistry and quality of the past. The musicians and singers of the 50s through the 80s were truly multi-talented. It didn't matter whether they were black, white latino, whatever. The talent was revealed in the quality of their output. You didn't have to look hard at all to find good music in the past, because it was all over place.
@@georgethomas8594 I’d extend that to the early 00s at least for music such as r&b and hip hop.
The original is just so crisp and tight.💥💯

I still see why Prince was smitten. Pretty and talented throwing down on keyboards and piano.
I wanna be your lover was made about her
Believe for the truth
He was not mature neither
Was responsible

Sure is !!
The strings (violins, cello's) in the intro are just gorgeous! Sadly by 1981 or so, stringed instruments fell by the wayside in most pop music.
Yes, that intro with the string arrangements just blows my mind. Man this is from the era of real music when it took talent to play, compose, arrange, produce and sing.
Loved that about Motown Era and the disco/pop style strings. Strings are so emotional and powerful, why stop using them? :/
Feel the same way about woodwinds in modern orchestral work, they seems to be neglected or an afterthought
Yes, so sad it went out of style...I Loved all those soaring strings of the 70s...especially in Disco
They sure did😢
This song will never go out of style. Good times.

Great classic song by Patrice! By the way, at least 114 people "haven't heard" because no one is looking for them!
Are you mean 114 tasteless deaf people?
@@rubengomez133 Sí. Me refiero a la gente que no tiene buen gusto para la música. ¡Ellos no lo saben! ¡Los sordos!

Yes ma'am sister
Haven't you heard
How can you not feel happy when you hear this song??
Exactly what I was thinking and this was my favorite song as a kid lol
One of the most underrated songs ever omg it's so good
the original rare 12 inch version that you will rarely hear on commercial radio today.
I've bought and sold a lot of records over the years, the 12" with this as the B side of Forget Me Nots is in the "stone cold classic, never sell" pile forever.
Man Patrice was my girl.. HAVENT YOU HEARD
The opening to die for
Yup, with those beautiful string arrangement.

"Haven't You Heard" brings beautiful memories flooding back into my body and soul. All I have to do is listen to it.
Patrice Rushen truly one of the greatest artists ever-scary versatile and this cut stays going hard. Respect
She sings like an angel ! This song 🎵 has a bouncy beat as well as energetic. It's fun to dance along.
She also plays those keys like a boss.
Master piece.
Wow haven’t heard this in years
The further you go back for the originals, the better they get. Too much sauce right here!
Sitting reminiscing about my uncles and aunties, extended family, the record player, laughter and fun times. This was the late 70s, everything and everyone was cohesive and full of love. Some of those loved ones are gone, or advanced in age now. The memories and the soundtracks are still here. If you weren't a kid in the 1970s you wouldn't understand. #LoveMyGeneration
American History will show that the 70s and 80s was the least amount of people hassling each other. It was live and let live. I was 18 when this song hit. Wouldn't trade that time for anything. Peace.
Haven't you heard I looking for you!
Thank you to the show LetterKenny to introducing me to this groovy tune!
My heart is reaching out to someone that that's sensitive and real
