Pilot light not staying lit? Could be the thermostat control. This will show you how to troubleshoot and repair. The other likely culprit is the thermocouple itself. Mine was the thermostat control so I don't address a faulty thermocouple in this video.

I had a problem with mine for 2 years. Mice had gotten in the water heater and made a nest and had blocked the air flow. I cleaned it out and it out and it works ok now.

if it happens again ask for the honeywell valve. these gray ones have been recalled for this issue. the new units now come with the honeywell ones again

How do you get the knob to turn off

My pilot wouldn't stay lit, So I removed the ECO sensor and inserted a piece of copper in the gap. Then I reinserted the coupling coil and then low and behold we have action, Pilot stays lit Burners ignited and we have hot water. It even cuts off when hot and self ignites when cold like normal. Thanks
