I really appreciate your debunking the marketing claims of certain other media brands that they can support denitrification. Your explanation was clear and is supported by science and just plain old logic.
Can you guys make some Nano aquariums like the waterbox peninsula 25 just ones a little bit bigger than your evo 13.5 gallon. Would love a 25 gallon in the fluval range.
If one is a bit cynical, one would believe it's because Fluval gets to sell you a lot more of it that way! But I believe the official explanation is that the pores can get clogged and reduce the media's efficiency and efficacy.
Hi there! We recommend partially replacing BIO-FX every 6 months or so to help keep it operating at peak efficiency. Over time, the internal pore structure of biological filter media becomes clogged with detritus and debris, reducing the overall surface area available to nitrifying bacteria. So, we recommend replacing some of it periodically! We of course don't claim the media will stop working or anything of the sort - it's simply a recommendation to keep it as efficient as possible.
Hi there, the 2 L format of BIO-FX is available right now! You can use the Dealer Locator on our website to find authorized Fluval retailers near you. 👌
Hi there! The 2 L format of BIO-FX was just released, so it may take a few weeks to become available in your area. We recommend asking your local aquatics retailer to special order it for you as soon as they can!
Hi there! No, anaerobic conditions can't really be maintained in filter media. Slowing down the flow that much would cause damage to the pump and would be detrimental to the efficiency of the filter.
Kaveman doesn’t know much biology. He doesn’t know how to use his API nitrates test. He’s more of amateur and influencer however sponsors him same as others. Bacteria lives in a biofilm not on surface, bacteria needs food and oxygen, if you don’t use the micro fine filter pad before the microporous media, then the exterior of the matrix and biohome gets covered in biofilm and all the micro pores don’t get used and lives you with less surface area and slow water flow.
Please help - I ran my new 107 canister filter for 20 minutes but then accidentally took the inlet hose out of the water for 5 second or so. It got noisy so I tried priming it then I turned it off then opened the canister up to clean it up. Is this an issue? - I feel like it’s a little louder but I’m not sure
Yes! The 2 L media is 1.2 cm in diameter and 1.5 cm in height, and is appropriately sized for filters like the 07 Series. The 5 L media is 1.8 cm in diameter and 2 cm in height, and is better suited for larger filters like the FX6, and sumps!
I use Biohome ultimate in my 207, would like to swap to bio-fx sometime if i ever find the 2L size !! How much would i put into a 207, 1 tray or 2 trays
Hi there! It depends what other type of media you use in the filter. We generally opt for two trays of BIO-FX and then Bio-Foam+ (the black rippled foam) in the bottom. If you have chemical media in there too, one tray of BIO-FX will suffice! 👍

Thank you for the positive feedback!
I love that @Fluval continues innovative product development. If only my wallet could keep up! 😂

Thanks for the suggestion! We'll pass it along to our product development team. 👍
Nice Siena in the background although it needs some plants!
Thanks! The fish would tear apart pretty much any plants we add to the tank.
The smaller size would allow it to fit under a under gravel filter.
great! but why "..replace partially every 6 months ".I have never changed my other brands filter media, unless these are some special ones?

Bleach soak it and then rinse and soak in water. I have enough to rotate my media.
Also would like to see a flex 80ltr
When will I be able to buy Bio FX in the 2 Liter size?

@@fluval Ok thanks.
@Fluval Aquatics what's the average micron size of the pores in the media?
Hi there! We don't have that information available, as the porosity of the media naturally develops throughout the manufacturing process.
@@fluval Thanks for the reply
Love the fx media i have it in my fx6. I have a wet n dry filter im setting up can i used the fx media instead of bioballs?
Absolutely! 👍
When will the smaller size be available in the USA? I don't see it on any retailer sites.

It is possible to reduce nitrates with this material if you can slow down the water flow sufficiently and have low oxygen

If you watch kaveman aquatics he used matrix on his overstocked African chiclid tank and his nitrates where reduced after 4 months

Hi there, it shouldn't be an issue! Just make sure the filter is properly primed again before starting it up. 👍
Is the 2L media smaller in size than the 5L media?
Yes! The 2 L media is 1.2 cm in diameter and 1.5 cm in height, and is appropriately sized for filters like the 07 Series. The 5 L media is 1.8 cm in diameter and 2 cm in height, and is better suited for larger filters like the FX6, and sumps!
@@fluval I can’t find the 2L size in Amazon US store 😫

Great thanks, yes i have the black course in the bottom with a white fine one. No chemical bacteria so will just fill up the other two with bio-fx.
Which size is better suited to the 307/407 filters?
Both will work, but we personally prefer the 2 L format for 07 Series filters! 👍
想問下207可以用?
