We had one of those events here, four or five years ago. It was fascinating to watch the stitching. Extraordinary skill. I was impressed. Thank you for the video!
A big tip that was pass down to me whenever you will bring your Lisse Croc bag/clutch/wallet is to always bring with you a loose powder. Since I have a Vert Anis Lisse Alligator Wallet and I accidentally spilled wine over it and a kind woman over the other table rushed and put loose powder over the part where I spilled the wine and thankfully it never blister or left a water mark. Translucent or loose powder works however if you can prevent this from happening, better. Water damage if you can act upon it is relatively easy to work with however it will never be the same with oils most especially in Ostrich, Lizard and once again Lisse Croc as oil can leave a permanent mark.
I can swallow the price similarity if and only if they can increase the craftsmanship or even make it handstitched. Since for me they cannot make the classic flaps fully handstitched as the quilted or the chevron pattern needs a mechanical input for the high density stich. But for the construction of the bags I think they can. It is just sad that the price is very high and if you have a chance to be offered a classic one you will really need to check for cosmetic damages from their production which is already a problem in the first place.
Thank you for sharing this information! It very interesting! It gives me more appreciation for this brand. I know these bags are expensive but I totally think they are worth it!
My understanding is they are opening a new workshop every year and the new one in Burgundy will specialize in mini Kellys. Ironic that croc 🐊 is the worst for water damage considering they live in water and cow don’t!
Hermes bags are so expensive because we pay for the brand, the marketing, the exclusivity and « priviledge » to have a bag that most can’t have. Yes there is good craftmanship, yes the material is good quality but that is not the reason why the bags cost 8k€
I’d say with the leather, hardware, and the labor/craftsmanship to produce these bags should be no more than $450. Hermes has wonderful leather. You are paying a huge premium for the name and prestige. But to each his own.
As a leather craftsman....I disagree, only slightly. My personal estimate to source the materials, create a pattern and produce that bag would be in the $1-2k range. Roughly about a 3rd of what they are charging (give or take). If someone came to me asking to make a similar bag, I'd probably refuse due to how much of a pain in the ass it would be to source every thing. They would have to offer me a significant premium to consider it. To have the massive departments that source tools and resources for the craftsman is a major benefit to working for these bigger houses vs for ourselves.
Wow, this is a wonderful episode! Loved learning so much about the Hermes crafting of these bags. Great work on this!

Such an interesting tip, I personally prefer to immediately dabb my exotic pieces dry with a soft cloth 🫶

It's being reported that Chanel classic flap is the same price as Hermès Birkin without the need for increased craftsmanship 😂
Yeah and who is buying it? No one i know and certainly not me!!! It's just crap quality... sadly

Chanel has a dedicated department for grooming service for their classic bags and it cost from £500!
The quality is one thing, but the main issue is how tacky most of their pieces have become 🫣
@@IamGPS for sure!!!
First off your outfit today is so cute! And thank you for all this information so interesting! 🙂
Aww thank you 🫶

Sheer perfection.

Haha it's interesting, isn't it? 🌧
I have a Vintage Kelly from 1979, it has a old wardrobe smell that I cannot remove. Do you have any suggestions of how I can remove it?

It’s dumb to pay that much money for a piece of crap from Hermes. Production price for a Hermès Kelly bag is about $600
It cost them $90 dollars to make the bag...
