Of course if you are wealthy enough to buy these bags for fun and not worry if it gets stolen or damaged, then it's like anything else, no big deal. Actually depending on the leather most Hermès bags do slouch over time. Swift and Clemance leathers are soft and become more malleable as they age. Hermès leathers are very unique
That birkin bag is just a copycat of another bag from the past. To me that bag isn't even worth $200..all I see is sophistication and class other than that they look plain boring.

Definitely a status symbol. In other words, they want your money so you can tell others a message without saying a word. "I'm richer, better and more valuable than you as a human being. I know now you will respect me and fear me. You need to symbolically bow to me. The moment I stop having this material things I will become ordinary again" If it makes you happy...
I watched a RUclips video about this girl ruining her birken due to water/salt damage. Her investment turned into a loss. I’m not even sure if homeowners insurance will replace it
Angel Sinclair maybe you are right because there are so many rich people in the world who can afford to have the biggest collection for the example the sheikhs of the entire arabia
Paying so much money just for a handbag to me is stupidity, even if I ever have so much money I would never purchase a Hermes and rather get Chanel and LV as their bags have so much variety in terms of style and material.
They do have a point where The Birkin value has increased more than gold or the S&P 500. But the key here is if the item is in pristine condition then it would hold its value more than just buying it for everyday use. It's a big amount of money to invest up front but from the business aspect of it, I get it.
Honestly speaking after working a high and fashion industry for almost 10 years. I can tell you all, what Hermès using is pretty much a hunger strategy, which makes the customer hungry for the purse by using starvation to create this craving. Indeed it is actually a very successful marketing and business strategy instead of exclusivity and Symbol of social status. And overall this is actually extremely silly.
Ryte and Bingo after they get the purse your not going to wear it to death u can resale it thats the only value i see in it just like anything else in life you cant die with it its just a status symbol like chanel louis vuitton gucci
They are not made in France. They add the tags in France. They are made in Senegal. Ostrich leather is what they use to make the bags. A friend of mine was one of the ppl flying to Dakar to negotiate the leather. The bags are fully made there excepted the tags.
Exactly. There are plenty of companies that do nice high standard leather bags and they don't cost a fortune. The price of those bags are ridiculous- people spend those money just for name and to show off- that's it.
For people who likes to collect different things, such as cars, or toys of animations, or paintings, or wines, or other stuff. People got satisfaction to get them. I guess there are no right or wrong, cause we enjoy what we love. For some people you don’t agree to spend so much on a bag, for others maybe they don’t agree someone who spends lots money on a expensive meal or a night in a 5-star hotel, or even spend a lot money on night club for expensive drinks 🍹 🍷 . Spend hard-earned money is to make ourselves happy, this is final result
Why can't the government tax luxury items like these ? clearly the people who buy it have no Problem paying that sum of money, and are using it as an investment.
3:14 - You need a transaction history with Hermes in order to get a Birkin so her walking in is like wut. I think people who don't like bags won't get why someone would spend $10K to buy a bag. It was nice to see the lawyer explain how the Birkin became a symbol of her hard work and success.
I have a collection of Birkin dupes, including some beautiful Italian inspired bags and the cheaper Chinese made versions on Amazon and AliExpress. No fake Hermes tags on them, but they give me a real buzz when I carry them and saunter into a five star hotel, to order a coffee and use the ladies loo. Nobody actually needs to spend the price of a car on a bag.

More like, "I am in debt" uniform!
@@Practice_Kindness-1st congrats on you new 150k bag
Actually depending on the leather most Hermès bags do slouch over time. Swift and Clemance leathers are soft and become more malleable as they age. Hermès leathers are very unique
Don't like them.not worth 10 grand
They look so boring
That birkin bag is just a copycat of another bag from the past. To me that bag isn't even worth $200..all I see is sophistication and class other than that they look plain boring.
Exactly! Ive seen nicer purses at the swap meet for like 20 bucks
Didn’t see that coming 2:40
“A Ferrari 812 super fast”
- shows a Ferrari 458
😂
Why would consumers buy these bags when celebrities get this trash for free to promote?
It's Mine Exactly
No celeb is getting a Birkin for free 😂😂😂😂
Hermes Bags are: overpriced, gaudy, tacky, and nothing more than a status symbol
But they have a little something for everyone 9.5/10
Girl how are they tacky when they are the epitome of craftsmanship
Man how are they the epitome of craftsmanship when they look this tacky. Riddle me that
You cannot buy a happines, but with Hermes bag you will happy
@@andreasprayogo1324 I bought a dozen happines two mothsa ago. It was one of the best decisions I've ever made, I'm a millionaire now
@@BallinCollin98 yes because you know why? It is not just about a bag,, it's about appreciate the Value.. and achievement of Humanity Civilization and culture and without value made by human, we are nothing and just like a caveman from a thousand years ago. So you have to buy a bunch of expensive, tacky crap you don’t want, cozy up to a sales associate you don’t know and may not even like, and wait a year or more before maybe being “allowed” to purchase one of these ugly, unwieldy, overpriced handbags? Where do I sign up?

Marketing 101.. create an EMOTIONAL attachment to the product.
Kiki Worlali exactly
human beings are some of the most dumbest creatures on Earth. We are at the top of the food chain and yet people are paying hundreds of thousands of dollars for a couple of yards of leather. I mean then the way they make you beg on your hands and knees not dripping from your nose for the bags. I get it it's exclusivity. You get to say that I sucked up to people who have no respect for me and they allowed me to spend my heart on money on something that they made for less of a couple hundred dollars. That's fine if your insecurities run that deep. The last. Pretend it's because he's bags are actual valuable
it's marketing my dude. Same with luxury watches especially rolex. They are symbol of sucess and becuase people always try to one up each other.
Just because you cant afford it, entitles you to call them dumb. So sorry for you...
kevinfrancais SFKK ppl put the value on stuff but who is to say what is worth what. The ppl that set those prices on those purses n watches and everything else are soulless. Overpricing everything only because they can never thinking how it can affect others banks rather keep buildings vacant rather then rent for cheap, restaurants rather throw out their leftovers instead of giving it to at least the homeless. A lot of shxt we are doing wrong out here but besides those who only talk shxt What are we going to do about the problems we dont solve but keep bringing up
At least don't be salty that they're using their own money to buy what they want. You aren't entitled to make choices for them.
We chase after dumb things. Well most of us. Think about money. Does money have any intrinsic utility value?
Definitely a status symbol. In other words, they want your money so you can tell others a message without saying a word. "I'm richer, better and more valuable than you as a human being. I know now you will respect me and fear me. You need to symbolically bow to me. The moment I stop having this material things I will become ordinary again"
If it makes you happy...
Alexis Co. true true & more true
I watched a RUclips video about this girl ruining her birken due to water/salt damage. Her investment turned into a loss. I’m not even sure if homeowners insurance will replace it
They didn’t mention jamie chua , she has the biggest hermes bag collection
Angel Sinclair maybe you are right because there are so many rich people in the world who can afford to have the biggest collection for the example the sheikhs of the entire arabia
A friend of mine has one. So I had a chance to carry this bag around for a day. It was heavy on its own. Very impractical.
Insecurity levels are off the charts
Paying so much money just for a handbag to me is stupidity, even if I ever have so much money I would never purchase a Hermes and rather get Chanel and LV as their bags have so much variety in terms of style and material.
They do have a point where The Birkin value has increased more than gold or the S&P 500. But the key here is if the item is in pristine condition then it would hold its value more than just buying it for everyday use. It's a big amount of money to invest up front but from the business aspect of it, I get it.
Crazy that a bag can be a sign of “success”
I like how they said Ferrari 812 Superfast but showed a Ferrari 458
I know that triggered me hard like know your cars ffs!!! 😡

@@victoriakelley9177 I mean, some are nice. But if I were to buy one, I'd buy the fake $160 ones.
Ryte and Bingo after they get the purse your not going to wear it to death u can resale it thats the only value i see in it just like anything else in life you cant die with it its just a status symbol like chanel louis vuitton gucci
humanity is very strange.i cant believe people actually spend 10k on a bag that looks like a 30 dollar bag.
I love that even before you can buy the bag you have to spend over 10k on other Hermes items 😂
It's very aggresive marketing strategy.
My back pack from 2015 is now serving me for 5yrs is worth 7euros. Worth it... And salute to the successful ones who owns a Birken purse.
They are not made in France. They add the tags in France. They are made in Senegal. Ostrich leather is what they use to make the bags. A friend of mine was one of the ppl flying to Dakar to negotiate the leather. The bags are fully made there excepted the tags.
3:02 When she said she is going to the store and ask for a Birkin bag was the funniest ever...and the shock after it!
I've gotta hand it to them! Incredible Marketing!
I don't see anything in these bags that make them worth so much. It's funny.
Harsh Gautam it’s a big whole. Nothing special, just the name
Exactly. There are plenty of companies that do nice high standard leather bags and they don't cost a fortune. The price of those bags are ridiculous- people spend those money just for name and to show off- that's it.
So my thing is do they have the price of the bag, in the the bag?
For people who likes to collect different things, such as cars, or toys of animations, or paintings, or wines, or other stuff. People got satisfaction to get them. I guess there are no right or wrong, cause we enjoy what we love. For some people you don’t agree to spend so much on a bag, for others maybe they don’t agree someone who spends lots money on a expensive meal or a night in a 5-star hotel, or even spend a lot money on night club for expensive drinks 🍹 🍷 . Spend hard-earned money is to make ourselves happy, this is final result
And people are hungry n homeless shows how selfish we are
Why would you call this selfishness when it came from hard work?
Exactly!! People care about things more than they do other people. And those bags are ugly. I've seen Target bags cuter than those.
@@lchristine3722 👍👍👍
It will never be an investment because there's huge demand and with a lot of demands, it's value goes low.
Why can't the government tax luxury items like these ? clearly the people who buy it have no Problem paying that sum of money, and are using it as an investment.
Ever heard of Sales Tax?
They already have tax.
Juan Cena yes I definitely did. You ever heard of luxury tax ??
3:14 - You need a transaction history with Hermes in order to get a Birkin so her walking in is like wut. I think people who don't like bags won't get why someone would spend $10K to buy a bag. It was nice to see the lawyer explain how the Birkin became a symbol of her hard work and success.
Her diploma should have been her symbol of success, not a handbag.
@@Practice_Kindness-1st Power of marketing, making you want something you dont need to feel something you already have, success.

The world is insatiable. The greed is pathetic. It’s never goin to end but only when we hit our graves so what’s the point 🙄
Reminds me of Beanie Babies. Some people are going to be stuck with worth “less” bags at the end of the craze.
MJ Noce beanie babies had artificial rarity, Hermès has created legitimate rarity for the bag
The Birkin and Kelly have been around since the 30s(kelly) and 80s(Birkin) so no, it’s not the same thing.
Sad people looking to give their lives meaning or belonging to a social class
married to ugly men. Buy a bag so you wont end up sleeping with the gardener or that kid cleaning the pool.
I love AliExpress because of that.. for some bags.. I really like the design but I ain't spending that much money just to have it..
Singapore heiress socialite has biggest collection of Birkin .
When your dad’s friend with the owner of the 3rd largest mall, I think I can get a Birkin for my mum just by walking into the store and saying my name with identifications. 🤣

Nothing wrong with having nice things. It's the greed for the materialism that's the problem #Gluttony
I must say that those Birken bags are the Ugliest things I have ever seen . Big as a suitcase. Gaudy. Unappealing. Waste of money . Women look classy carrying a small bag .Not that ugly monstrosity. 😨

Apparently the Karen’s want it. ;-;
I remember watching Tara’s Instagram story the day she purchased her Birkin bag 😍 Absolutely beautiful!

I have a leather business , and trust me it's nothing to knock off a leather bag , if any bag is made out of leather it's no such thing as a fake , all your doing is using the same pattern , these people spend all this money on a products it took us $50 and a little labor to make , hilarious .
