Finally! I’ve always wondered how good a scan tool is that you can buy on Amazon or anywhere else compares with a scan tool at a dealership. I’ve never thought that a tool that you can get on a company like Amazon would be as good. And I’m not picking on the product sold by Amazon. They just don’t have access to the same information that’s provided at the dealership level. The one exception is possibly Snap On. And those devices cost about five times more than what you can find on Amazon.
take a look also at the Launch products that have been reviewed... xtool is good in some areas, but launch is better at a more consistent software experience.
i was looking to get D9S but it have 6500mAh battery with bigger screen & that mean the battery will not last long without charging! while the D8W 10000mAh with small screen & i was disappointed! thats was really weird for me! but still D8 is a beast. Xtool nailed it with their tools awesome features & subscription & prices! i bought D8W & it's in the way. 1742
Which would you chose for immo/key fob reprogram and reading pin codes. Plus being able to change mileage like the IP819 "which isnt a good thing". Also beng able to reset tpms and have a good live running screen and being able to check smog/deq for passing state inspection air quality control which we have to every two years. And of course with the newest android version.
based on the list of requirements below, I would say try the D8s from amazon or ebay and if you don't like it, you return it ASAP. I don't think that , none of them is able to do all the requirements. The mileage correction is the same. Key programming in a basic form in the D7S, more advanced in the D8, but to be a pro at it you need to add the programming accessories. D8s has the bigger screen. And if you want wireless they have now the D8W ... no more cables, but you need to charge the unit. The way they market the products ... you might also look at the D9.(if you want to do it all). Personally I use the D7 and many times , i Iike the comfort of the A30M. Let me know what you get
Greetings. I just got the D8 and it assuming it can do DOIP, I don't think the upgrade to the S would have been worth it. On a totally different note, does Xtool offer a tablet for industrial and commercial equipment like JLG forklifts and boom lifts, or to read CAT equipment. I see that Autel has a platform that may work..
don't think Xtool do industrial/commercial. Launch has some coverage for those. Make sure to test your d8 on the vehicles you want to use it on before the return period expires.
XTOOL has no support for OBD1 or commercial. I also found it's not particularly capable with older stuff either, even common GM trucks from the late 90s or early 00s. It seems the niche of Xtool is 2007 to 2020 vehicles. I totally see the utility of the tool and what it offers, but I had to go over to a Launch X431 PRO3S+. More expensive, but gives me a lot more options and I can buy the HD adapter to get into 24v machinery.

Then it’s gone with your friend/client’s car and good buy $500-ish because you need it tomorrow early in the morning… amazon prime than only an option left. Was there…

the D8, D9 versions are harder to find. Xtool is moving to the S versions. at this price range they are very similar in functionality ... only bigger screen bigger battery ... personally I like more the clasic versions ... they seem to work faster ... but I might be biased because I first started with a D7, that I still use and like.

This is an interesting topic. I have the topology view in BMW ISTA and on my day to day D7 it is not there. I can't say that the topology does a difference as long as the tool delivers communication for each ECU. I see it more as a marketing feature to sell the more expensive tools. What are your thoughts on it?

D8S. You might need KC100 or KC501. D7S does not support KC100 or KC501

For CAT equipment buy an oem cat software they are affordable, even the clones work well for cat. Software is free if you know where to look

I bought this stupid XTool D8 and it doesn't recognize my Mazda CX-30. It says that all software is up to date. Very disappointed.
try to go to diag - select mazda and select from there , either find the car or autodetect.

They definitely have topology on d8 and above
D8 has topology now.. It didn't used to when I bought it in 2022.. but they upgraded it and just included it in the updates.
