I can see this song being performed in the final. String arrangement, gospel choir. Its very powerful.
I don't care about you winning the show because this song is more important than any contest!! I want to share this song with everyone I can....thank you for sharing this gift with us!!!
This is such an emotional and heartfelt original , I have never heard anything like this before
this was so raw and emotional. everything he sang about is completely valid. i hope things can change soon, we need to change because this isn't ok.
I watched this with my wife. Couldn't help but to tear up in front of her. Powerful...an immediate fan of his.
My husband did too and out of the 9 1/2 years being together, I never seen him cry
I'm a 43 year old white male, living in the deep south. I'll be honest, I've lived most of my life completely oblivious to what was going on around me. I'll never know what it's like to be black in a America and I won't pretend too. But I'll spend the rest of my days making sure everyone around me knows that we must do better if we desire to live in unity and in peace. We need more.... ✌️

Can someone please talk about the amount of courage he took to take this original song to American idol? And what would’ve happened if this is the song (or these kind of songs) played in mainstream radio? This is Grammy level award level.
In a day and age where there could still be a possibility these stories can get gas lit by a segment of the population… yet he took the courage to take his most personal work to show the world in the hopes of changing hearts and minds so we can see, feel in someone else’s shoe.
I haven’t been a cryer normally but I was wiping my tears with this song.
I don’t want him to just win American idol… I want the mainstream industry and Hollywood give him a prime spotlight for him to create his own work.
Well said. Same here on the tears. Very deep emotional song.
Agreed 💯. True and very 😭
He repeated the narrative to the brainwashed choir. He's not getting very far on talent.
Looks like H.E.R. has had more success with original songs than divisive propaganda.
Imagine if Taylor had actually done something original.
@@OptimisticCynic715 Ok Karen.
@@OptimisticCynic715 I’m not sure how someone expressing the pain they went through in their entire life as a black person… the struggle black family went through is divisive. If anything, a song like this is where we connect and understand one another better. And he had the courage to sing his heart out even when people like you would then call his song as divisive propaganda.
And please note that I’m not even a black person. It’s just that could really empathize and relate … and ask myself how I can do better so black boys and girls don’t die or at least feel safe in the country we live in.
Or… are you saying their experience made you feel uncomfortable and therefore it’s easier to label it as divisive propaganda so you get a get out of jail free card from needing to examine what we can do better for ALL people in this country?
That discomfort is real for a segment of this country and I acknowledge that. But I’d rather get real uncomfortable to try understand what black communities have gone through so they don’t have to go through hell anymore. Nobody deserves that if we all are truly created as equal human beings
WOW!!! His voice is great but his strength to write and perform this touching song to the word was NEEDED! I’m speechless 🙏

This is way more moving than a city burning down. You have some talent man. Good job!
Whether he makes it to the finals or not this aound will reach millions and that is what is important . Taylor you are truly blessed with an incredible gift of being a story teller and musical talent that our world needs more than ever.
Thank you for writing this powerful song❤You are destined to do amazing things😉
Real tears of sadness and joy because he feels like me. Just crushed, but trying to find a way to give us comfort and a voice. He is the Bestest of the Best! Incredible King! Thank you so much.
We needs more of these artists 🎨 🙌 of all nationalities putting their talents out there into the world 🌎 yesssss I heard it and I felt it.... music 🎶 is the universal language xxxx
stunned & speechless. so powerful. re-listened to this many times with just a critical ear towards the songwriting and performance and it's just a work of genius art on top of it. if this song doesn't become something memoralized for all time it's a crime. this man reminds me of the genius of tyler perry but 10x's more talented. i want to see him go far - not particularly in this competition but in life and that his message in all forms of his art are widely public. he has things to say we all need to hear and as katie put it so well - the best activism has always come from art.
What a powerful song from an incredible artist. Thank you, Taylor.
a puddle of tears. This spoke to my soul..
I will never understand how people can hate someone cause of the colour of their skin.
I don't think its really to do with the way they are brought up either. My family are pretty "old school" with some of my family members being homophobic and racist and yet I still don't dislike anyone for anything other than the choices they make and the way they treat others.
Me either arctic
Sadly you are an exception. I grew up in a very racist area and I could see very strongly how it followed within families on down the line. Generations of hatred. Needless to say I don't live there anymore.
As for an explanation, I feel it's another way for someone who inwardly feels deeply inferior in some way to put down someone else so they can feel superior. To me it's delusion and illness... A distortion of "tribal" or group identity and defense mechanism against someone who appears to be different or "other." Emphasis on appears to be...
I'm a black man and white people have been told through centuries they are the superior race. Some white people try to be racist to fit in with the people they are around with. Most white Americans are not racist!
@@calm1047 It's a sad and terrible thing to say, but having lived all over the country here in The States, I've gotten to see quite a bit... Especially as being white I get to hear a lot of the racism that most wouldn't dare speak or share in front of a black person. And I've spoken up and stood up to try to shut it up and stop it for most of my life. But I remember for a period in childhood I had absorbed the racism that was all around me. Until it dawned on me how ridiculous and insane it all was. My area was so monochromatic I had never even met a black person. And now I live in the Southern United States where unfortunately there's been a serious resurgence once again of deep hatred and prejudice. Sometimes I wonder if we've made any progress at all. But we definitely have. The fight continues to "Not judge a man by the color of the skin but the content of his character" if I have that MLK quote correct.
@@THaughton Yes. Impressive that you were able to reject those early lessons and speak up ever since. We need to remember all of MLK's speech, and his other speeches, in addition to that one line, which makes those of us who are white so comfortable. Every year on his birthday, I re-read the entirety of that speech, and sometimes his others. to remind me of his lessons.
That was deep man and well needed and like the judge said it’s sad we still need these songs in 2022 and it’s still just as relevant. God bless you and thank you for sharing that beautiful song with us 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
You basically got me in tears because I lived it and I’m always praying my children don’t have to deal with the same things I dealt with growing up!
Love the song and I’m hoping you go all the way brother!

*Not one single word of that song is actually TRUE !!! He merely made a song idolizing criminals, drug dealers, and drug abusers - way to go !!!*

Let it go my brother. Let this set you free. Make a positive impact in the world. You live for conflict. Aren’t you tired yet? Aren’t you tired?
TAYLOR FAGIN'S song was much needed! It was uplifting, creative, artistic, and hopefully unifying! As a black man, this hit too close to home! I teared up instantly. My own mom didn't know why I was gonna walk to the store and it was only 9:45PM at night. The store is literally a 15 minute walk there and back. And it's sad that my mom and so many black parents and children have to worry about walking outside as soon as it gets dark or even before the sunrise. HIM and NICOLINA should've gotten that PLATINUM TICKET!

@@D.Bunker The BLACK PEOPLE that was mentioned on Taylor's song were INNOCENT and GUNNED DOWN UNJUSTLY. But yet, YOU want to GLORIFY some of the WHITE PEOPLE who KILLED OTHERS in MASS SHOOTINGS! THAT'S SO BACKWARDS. It's actually sad and PATHETIC. YOUR PERSPECTIVE AND OPINION IS HATEFUL & RACIST.

The sad part is, only the voters will be able to get him off the show. No chance any of the woke folk at ABC will allow him to be removed on their own.
I wish that many who feel the pain of those who died under these circumstances could do as good a job healing themselves and their communities through their artistry. The pain we all felt as Taylor sang touched everyone. You have to change people's hearts before you can change their minds and that's what true artistry does.

Wow man this is deep.. it's crazy because alot of us have the same feelings on these matters but we don't know how to express them exactly... I think this song took the emotions and words out of all of us. We all agree and needed to hear this
Omgg... This song hit's home it brought tears to my eye's. Beautiful song please keep writing 🙏🏾🖤
I cried all the way through his song.
My gosh.
I wish there was a mega-like button...
This was so, so powerful. As a white woman, I don't experience what black people do, but each and every time I hear of atrocities done to them, to **you**, my heart hurts. You **need** more. You **deserve** more.
And it's high time we grow up and put racism down and stop this centuries-long nonsense.
Thank you... I want more from this one. NO question at all.
You can start with yourself and your family and friends, by denouncing any spoken or acts of racism and educating you and your family and friends about black history beyond the shores of America. Most people ( non blacks ) have scapegoated blacks for centuries.
If you want to understand blacks and see why most are so angry read some real history books on what the world has done to us....we are not crazy !, it's not in our imagination!. We have every right to be who we are , it's what we've been driven to. It's us against the world and that's what it feel like no matter what we do!.
I will never forget this audition Taylor Fagins you are an Artist. Thank You xoxo
The words of that song tore through my soul. It was so real and still in 2022 so needed.
