I found a Vespa Sprint 2T that's from 2015 and looks like new in the photos he sent me. Originally a 50 cc, it's been upgraded to a 70 cc engine. Is it worth $2400? Or should I buy a cheap bicycle or ciao Piaggio moped for now, just to get around town this Summer and save up for a motorcycle license costing $3500, then invest in a real Vespa 300 cc or motorcycle instead? I'm wondering about the value for money and if the 70 cc upgrade offers significant advantages over the 50 cc. What are your thoughts on starting out with 70 cc? I'd appreciate your advice so I don't end up regretting a second-hand Vespa purchase online. Thanks for your insights!
I do miss the two stroke days. Maybe they will find a solution to at least bring back the 2t 50cc's. Modding those old 2t vespas would make a great video. One would thought that you have that culture in the US too?
There’s definitely some niche community’s still hanging on to the classic Vespas. We still love em and stock thousands of parts for them, that’s how we started this business. Unfortunately the emissions regulations, especially here in California, will probably never allow new two stoke scooters again. For now we can keep wrenching on our basket cases and garage queens and reminisce about the old days. haha!
Thanks for the comparison.. I am fairly tall 6' 3".. and REALLY prefer a smooth comfy ride. Are the shocks and seats the same on each? I like a nice fully padded seat for extra comfort. Also, for my larger frame.. Would a Vespa work better or would a Piaggio (like a Liberty) work better? Thanks so much..
@@briand_1 I never got one.. had a hard time finding one that fit me and was comfy.. Kinda gave up.. Maybe I will get in the mood and buy another one someday... I do miss riding sometimes.. Not sure what I would get.. I wish you good luck on your search.
Hi Robot - is there a similar cdi mod available for the 150 (as per 50cc) to boost performance.? Just wondering how tuneable it is. Back in the 80s I tuned up my P150 with a Polini barrel and piston and an Amiil carb. It went like stink!!
I really wish Vespa would return to making 200cc scooters. The GTS scooters are bloated, ugly and ridiculously expensive. A 150cc is okay, but a 200 in a Sprint body which can go up to 70mph is much more usable in a wide range of situations. If you want a 50cc, buy a cheaper Taiwan scooter. Vespas are overpriced... to spend that much money on such a low powered scoot is a joke.
I have a 2020 150 Prima, is the Akrapovic a wise investment in itself? Or is there other pieces to get more performance out of my Vespa? Trying to take the prima on some backroad adventures
We’ve got a wide selection of performance parts to choose from. Ranging from simple bolt on items to more involved parts like cylinder kits etc. The Akrapovic exhaust would be a nice easy bolt on mod that’ll give you a little bit of boost. Next step would be a variator kit and upgear kit for your longer rides. www.scooterwest.com/modern-vespa/performance.html Thanks for the support!
I'd never buy anything but a 50cc scooter, laws and insurance are much more lenient with them and they get much better mpg. If I wanted to go fast I'd get a motorcycle.

Did you end up getting a scooter? If so what did you get and do you like it? I’m roughly the same build
