I remember first watching your videos so long ago when i was first learning how to do a smokey eye and to think of how far you come really just makes me so happy. Yeah nothing wrong with being at least the tiniest bit patriotic, like that here about being a descendant of a Royal Scottish Clan from 1306-1329 being born actually in England though which goes back to least the latter half of the 600s AD (there's older places around the country take Luton as a great example down in London and there's two Ripons over there as well, one least with one off their settlers ancestors coming from here.

a zillion steps but this is the best dramatic smokey eye look that I have seen EVER. there are others that use more product , or more dramatic to the extent where it looks goth, but this is the one that is dramatic but not over the top. I mean its not wear it to office makeup and I know that but it is not a dark , smokey eye originating from your ears kind of a look . you are beautiful and talented

Here's a useful tip, especially if you have ridiculously sensitive skin. Micropore tape works really well for this - less sticky, hypoallergenic and because it's paper-backed it catches all the fall out. And if you're a messy mare like me, that's a real bonus! I can't use Sellotape or Scotch tape (until red, streaming puffy eyes become trendy) but Micropore works really well. Fab tutorial, thanks.
You're welcome - glad it was helpful, hope it works for you! I've tried all the tricks for this - if I use a card it goes all wonky; if I use tape I get this super-sexy red, swollen oblong cos I'm allergic to the glue (I'm allergic to everything - my skin is the colour of dead cod. Sexeeee!) But Micropore is the bizniz, and it's not expensive. Really hope it works out well for you, and thanks for answering :-)

No joke guys, 2020, a bunch of other videos and looks and STILL I come back to this... In my opinion, BEST TUTORIAL EVER ON RUclips. I mean BEST. EVER.
Funny - I found you (Jaclyn Hill) because of your recent videos - but I looked right back to the ones in the beginning, and I have to admit I like these a little better. You're still a great makeup vlogger but in the most recent ones, you're so "high energy" and slogan filled you've almost become a parody of yourself. I get the humour and the fun of it all but it's exhausting to watch sometimes. These early ones seem a lot more like the real you - you talk to us rather than perform to us and it's a really nice energy.
I know... nit picking, but i'm a TV producer so I can't help but see it.

You can do this using much, much cheaper products. Sleek, MUA, ELF, NYX - all do similar eyeshadows and most do a palette that have all of them. As for the rest, you don't need to do all that for your skin - makeup artists show the whole shebang, but just use what you need especially if you're young. I only used powder, eyeshadows double up as blushes and contour/highlight. Check eBay - you can get MASSIVE palettes dead cheap. And brushes; ELF studio line, Morphe, Coastal Scents all do fab ones, and I use art brushes for eyeliner - £1 gets you one a lot better than the £15 MAC equivalent!

Nice job, kiddo, I want to try it and I'm happy you used more browns than charcoal and black which can be harsh, especially on us grandma's. I use mostly Sleek I-divine eyeshadow palettes and love them, they blend wonderfully, last all day and have a large selection of matt colors. So, again, very nice job, I'll be watching more of you, and don't worry about talking too much...I didn't think you did. ;-))
